Carlos Alcaraz will want to have his feet up before Spain take on France in the semi-finals of Euro 2024 and he backs up that break with a hold.

The final point is a superb rally - the longest of the match - finished by a superb volley at the net. Alacarz puts his finger behind his ear to suggest he wants to receive the acclaim of Court One.

It’s been incredible and Paolini has Emma Navarro rattled. The turnaround was how aggressive she could be in the forehand, that’s been the big weapon for her, she’s been willing to move forward a number of times but she is stealing so much time from Navarro.

She has experienced this before, she’s gotten to the major final and she’s playing like it.

Tommy Paul produces a quite sumptuous volley at the net to save a break point, but at deuce Carlos Alcaraz gives himself some breathing space in this fourth set.

    *Paolini 6-2 Navarro

Five games in a row and Jasmine Paolini takes the first set.

The diminutive Italian was broken early but reacted in the best possible way, an instant break back to knock Emma Navarro off her stride.

Navarro has just not been able to get going with Paolini mixing things up superbly.

The seventh seed has won 10 of the 11 points when she's approached the net.

Jasmine Paolini races to the net again and when Emma Navarro's attempted passing shot goes straight down off the net chord, it's another hold.

This has been very impressive from Paolini so far. The French Open runner-up is just a game away from taking this first set.

I have been noticing the explosive movement from Paolini, she’s looking to move into the net and ready to pounce.

She’s trying to steal time from Navarro and that is really working here.

I'm up at the very top of Centre Court and have a side-on view, which means I properly get to appreciate the power of Jasmine Paolini.

The Italian has that extra bit of zip on the ball and she's pushing Emma Navarro further and further back behind the baseline.

Add to that her rapid pace and you can see why she's causing Navarro so many problems. That last point she forced her opponent deep and then raced forward to pluck an ice-cold drop shot.

After a confident start, Emma Navarro has lost her way a bit and Jasmine Paolini breaks again.

The Italian is always keen to get to the net and is picking her moments well at the moment.

Once she's at the net, she has every confidence in her touch and anticipation to finish off the point - so far, you'd have to say with good reason.

Massive hold for Paul because Alcaraz had really gained the momentum. You felt he would run away with the match in general so Tommy Paul doing a good job here of settling things down and keeping his foot in the door.

But the seventh seed is unfazed and a deft drop shot closes out the game.

I was on Wimbledon centre court on Saturday with a host of ex athletes including a certain ex England manager Roy Hodgson. He mysteriously disappeared from the royal box for a few hours and reappeared just after the penalties finished. I’m not sure where he went though…

If only Roy knew that he could follow the Euros on the BBC Sport app so wouldn't have needed to leave the Royal Box! You can do that tonight as we have Wimbledon and the Euros covered for you across BBC iPlayer, BBC Sounds and us right here on the BBC Sport website and app.
