The quality and intensity of this fourth set has been the best.
Cutting out the unforced errors and Carlos Alcaraz raising that intensity.

Re Anon 16:11 - Murray cannot have been THE icon of British sport in the era of Sir Lewis Hamilton (for one). Definitely deserves a statue though...
Erandin, Liverpool
But it's Murray who has inspired the current crop of UK youngsters, so I vote for a statue!

A ripper of a forehand winner from Carlos Alcaraz, much more like him. He holds to 15 and for a second time Frances Tiafoe will serve to stay in the fourth set.
*Alcaraz 5-7 6-2 4-6 5-5 Tiafoe
Another Alcaraz unreturnable serve. 40-15.

Frances Tiafoe really is working the crowd.
The pressure is swinging from side to side.
Now Tiafoe has got it back level, he wants to put pressure on the Carlos Alcaraz serve.

Alcaraz is aware he may need a little extra help here. It’s a smart move to encourage the 15,000 odd people in this Centre Court crowd.

What about a statue to commemorate the British fans? Whether it was Virginia Wade, Sue Barker, John Lloyd, Tim Henman or Andy Murray or anyone else plying their trade on the tennis circuit, our tennis stars have put us through emotional hell for decades. I think we need recognition for the loss of chewed fingernails and ripped out hair!

Fantastic applause around Court One as Gael Monfils holds serve again in the third set.

Frances Tiafoe didn't do anything wrong but Carlos Alcaraz sensed the opportunity.
Alcaraz is playing tennis on his terms and looking to be aggressive. You feel the pressure is coming back on Tiafoe.
Centre Court, under the roof, with two players constantly upping their game.
You've got to love Wimbledon.

Carlos Alcaraz needs more of that great footwork and acceleration right now.
