Re Anon 16:11 - Murray cannot have been THE icon of British sport in the era of Sir Lewis Hamilton (for one). Definitely deserves a statue though...

    Erandin, Liverpool

But it's Murray who has inspired the current crop of UK youngsters, so I vote for a statue!

What about a statue to commemorate the British fans? Whether it was Virginia Wade, Sue Barker, John Lloyd, Tim Henman or Andy Murray or anyone else plying their trade on the tennis circuit, our tennis stars have put us through emotional hell for decades. I think we need recognition for the loss of chewed fingernails and ripped out hair!
