  1. Maria in controlpublished at 16:32 British Summer Time 2 July

    *Boulter 0-3 Maria

If there are nerves from Katie Boulter then there are no signs of them from Tatjana Maria and she's playing with a real freedom.

Maria strides to the net to volley away for a 30-0 lead before going on to hold to love.

The German has rattled off three games in quick succession.

    This wasn't in the script!

  2. Maria breakspublished at 16:30 British Summer Time 2 July

    Boulter 0-2 Maria*

Some nerves from Katie Boulter with the expectation of the home crowd to shoulder?

Boulter is beaten by a neatly placed backhand to fall 15-0 behind and then a double fault puts Tatjana Maria 30-0 clear.

Boulter then goes long as she attempts a forehand to the baseline and Maria has three break points.

The Brit awkwardly skews the ball wide and is broken.

Someone starts a rendition of "Let's go Katie, let's go" which the rest of the crowd fall in line with perfectly - like a well-rehearsed choir!

    Carballes Baena 2-6 4-6 2-3 Zverev*

Alexander Zverev didn't give Roberto Carballes Baena a sniff on his serve in the first two sets but he's been a bit lax at times in the third.

He gave up three break points in his first service game and two double faults give Carballes Baena another in his second.

But the German flicks the switch again to save it, secure another hold and stay a break up.

Carballes Baena quickly holds to love, though, with a couple of eye-catching drop shots along the way.

    Jubb 6-1 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 4-3 Seyboth Wild*

We're yet to have a British male winner in the first round. Could Paul Jubb be the first?

He is back in action against Thiago Seyboth Wild.

As always, you can watch every court here.

  6. Djokovic serving for second setpublished at 16:28 British Summer Time 2 July

    Kopriva 1-6 2-5 Djokovic*

Novak Djokovic has another break of serve up his sleeve and is now serving for the second set. All routine for the 24-time Grand Slam champion.

If his knee is not 100% after surgery, this is exactly the first-round match he would have wanted.

  7. Maria holdspublished at 16:27 British Summer Time 2 July

    *Boulter 0-1 Maria

A straightforward start for Germany's Tatjana Maria as she rounds off her service game - winning to 30 - with an ace as the chalk flies up off the surface.

A chant of "let's go Katie, let's go" is started as Katie Boulter looks to respond in her first service game.

  8. 'We're not going to roll over'published at 16:26 British Summer Time 2 July

Andy Murray is hoping for a long goodbye at Wimbledon. But how long? All we know at this stage is that it won't drag out like Elton John's farewell.

The Murray brothers, who have never teamed up at the Championships, will play Australian pair Rinky Hijikata and John Peers later this week.

The first round of the men's doubles is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, but Wimbledon chief executive Sally Bolton said the Murrays could even play on Friday.

"I think it is likely to be Thursday but depends on the conditions and whether Hijikata finishes in the singles," Murray said.

"I think [Thursday] is what they're expecting but I'm not 100% sure."

Of course, that might not be the end.

"It's not like were going to roll over and lose the match. We’ve got a good chance of winning," he added.

"Me and Jamie play great doubles together and if both of us are fit and well on the court we can definitely win the match."

A warm round of applause on court three and off we go in this first round meeting between 32nd seed Katie Boulter and Germany's Tatjana Maria.

  11. 'Boulter feels like she belongs'published at 16:23 British Summer Time 2 July

    Boulter v Maria

    John Lloyd
Former GB Davis Cup captain on BBC TV

Katie Boulter has had an amazing last year and a half and she belongs now in the top group of the women's players. She knows that. She's got the game to do so. It's very exciting watching her play. I think she is going to have a great time today.

You can see that she feel like she belongs now. You break into that top 100, then that top 50 and then you get to where you can get seeded, you have to believe that you can compete with the top players.

I think she's got the belief now that she can go up against anybody, particularly on grass and beat them and she has got that confidence and that look about her which is great.

    *Kopriva 1-6 2-4 Djokovic

    Marion Bartoli
Former Wimbledon champion on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra and BBC Sounds

Djokovic is just plugged in during every single game and if he can break you two or three times a set, he will. He is not losing concentration at all.

British number five Jodie Burrage, who is missing this year's Wimbledon because of injury, has just settled herself down behind me on court three to cheer on her good friend Katie Boulter.

Oh, and there's Boulter's biggest supporter following closely behind - her grandad!

He's looking very smart with a crisp suit and sun hat, along with the sock and sandals combo.

  15. Choinski goes to a deciding setpublished at 16:20 British Summer Time 2 July

    Darderi 7-5 4-6 2-6 7-5 Choinski

Britain's Jan Choinski has been on court for more than three hours today and his first-round match with Italian Luciano Darderi on court 17 is going the distance. Two sets apiece.

And here come Katie Boulter and Tatjana Maria.

The pair were scheduled to be on court three at around 15:30 BST but the British weather is up to its usual tricks with a little bit of rain delaying the start.

Boulter has just won the coin toss and opted to receive the first service game.

Time for a quick warm-up and we'll be under way shortly.

A good hold from love-30 down for Kopriva to get only his third game of the match under his belt.

Djokovic remains a set and a break up though.

British number one Katie Boulter is looking to avoid an early slip-up at Wimbledon but faces a difficult first round tie against Germany's Tatjana Maria.

Maria, number 63 in the world, was a Wimbledon semi-finalist in 2022, losing against Tunisia's Ons Jabeur.

That is the furthest Maria has ever gone at a Grand Slam and she exited last year's competition in the opening round.

The 36-year-old has three WTA titles under her belt, winning the Mallorca Open (2018) and Copa Colsanitas (2022 & 2023).

  19. Zverev breaks then saves three break pointspublished at 16:16 British Summer Time 2 July

    *Carballes Baena 2-6 4-6 0-2 Zverev

Alexander Zverev is getting so much depth, whether it's forehand or backhand, to keep Roberto Carballes Baena back and the Spaniard is broken to start the third set.

That, you'd think, is that then.

    Well, maybe not...

Zverev's forehand goes wide in the next game and Carballes Baena suddenly has three break points.

Or maybe so. Zverev calmly saves the lot and holds with another ace.

  20. Postpublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 2 July

    *Kopriva 1-6 1-3 Djokovic

Another service game and another hold to love. Kopriva just has not been able to read or deal with the Djokovic serve and there only looks one winner at the halfway point of set two.
