Gloucester Goes Retro brought vintage cars aplenty to the city this weekend

Our weekly round-up of pictures from the county includes scything fit for a king and a step into our Roman past.

Firefighters were also on hand to help make sure penguins were kept cool in the warm sunshine.

Gloucester Goes Retro returned to the city for the 10th time, with hundreds of classic cars in the city and entertainment too.

Scythes at the ready: The wildflower meadowland has been cut at the Highgrove home of King Charles, in Tetbury, as part of the estate management at the end of the season.

Chisels at the ready: Gloucester Cathedral is hosting a Stone Carving Festival this weekend, exploring the theme of "Peace and Remembrance," marking 80 years since VE Day.

A step back in time: The Birdlip Roman Festival took place last week, featuring re-enactment group the Ermine Street Guard who took a starring role in Sunday's festival, marching through the village in authentically recreated military wear.

Horsing around: National Racehorse Week began on Saturday and Fergal O'Brien opened up his Gloucestershire yard to engage the public with the world of horse racing, which included a visit from Love Islander Chris Hughes.

Momentous day: A nerve-wracking wait for exam results finally came to an end for thousands of Gloucestershire students. Year 11 pupils gathered at schools across the county to pick up their GCSE results, including Tadiwa and Edwina (above).
