Ross Allen celebrated his second goal of the season for Guernsey FC on Saturday

Guernsey FC manager Tony Vance says he is pleased to welcome back record goalscorer Ross Allen to his side.

Allen - who had not scored since the opening day win over Westfield on 13 August - opened the scoring in the 1-1 draw against Corinthian Casuals.

The 36-year-old took his tally to 286 goals in 304 games after his fourth appearance of the season.

"The one thing he will do is put the ball in the back of the net," Vance told BBC Radio Guernsey.

"He's not fit, he's not sharp, he's not ready, but to get 90 minutes out of him was brilliant."

Allen's return came with a number of Guernsey FC younger players away on representative duty with Guernsey's under-21 side as they beat Jersey in their annual Muratti match.

"You could see he was a bit off his game, but yet he still scored a very good goal and by his standards should have scored another one," added Vance.

"It's great to have him back. We've missed the youngster's because of the under-21 Muratti and we could have probably done with them as a little spark."
