The Hatters are starting to get some joy from long balls over the top into Elijah Adebayo and Tahith Chong.

So far the hosts have managed to deal with the threat, but those two Luton forwards have plenty of experience after a season in the Premier League and will take one of those chances eventually.

Elijah Adebayo finally gets something very right, with a glorious glancing header into the path of Tahith Chong, however his touch on the edge of the box isn't clean and Joe Edwards does superbly to recover and crowd him out, allowing Dan Grimshaw to gather.

Just signs Luton are getting a foothold in this one.

It's all square at the break between Tranmere and Salford.

The hosts have been the better side in the first 45 minutes of the 400th Friday night match at Prenton Park but have nothing to show for it.

Rovers have bossed possession and created the better openings with Salford's only real chance of note falling to Conor McAleny in the fourth minute.

Luton eventually clear their lines and for a moment Elijah Adebayo is clean through as a straight ball beats the Argyle defence, however he can't quite get it under his spell, the defence recovers and the subsequent cross into the middle drifts out.

A wake-up call for the Greens at the back, if nothing else.

Argyle have bene the dominant force in this game, but you feel they need to take another chance soon or this could get a bit nervy for Wayne Rooney and his men.

A glimpse of goal for the Hatters as Zack Nelson lofts the ball to the far post where Tahith Chong gathers.

He tries to work a yard of space and fires in an angled strike but skipper Joe Edwards dives in to divert the ball behind for a corner... which comes to nought.

What a save this is. Thomas Kaminski somehow sees Rami Al Hajj's low shot through a forest of legs and flings out a strong left arm to turn the ball away.

This could be three or four already.

It's just not quite going according to plan for Luton.

The little passes they think are on aren't because players are making different runs.

They're just not gelling at the moment.

It's Morgan Whittaker again, fed the ball 20 yards from goal on the half-turn.

He buys himself a yard and let's fly from the edge of the box but his rasping drive is always heading over the angle of post and bar.

The Pilgrims are rampant.

Morgan Whittaker is given waaay too much space 35 yards from goal and doesn't need a second invitation to have a pop.

His shot is charged down but falls to Ryan Hardie on the right who cuts in but slashes a wild shot across goal which eventually drifts out for a throw-in.

Luton were winning at Goodison Park in the Premier League 12 months ago. They are very far from that tonight... so far!

The last thing you want to do on a trip to Home Park is give the hosts something to get the crowd up (further up!) and a lead to try to build on.

Luton hadn't conceded in their past four visits here but they are up against it now.

Can they take the sting out of the game for a few minutes. The visitors have won a couple of corners but haven't made anything of them in the opening 17 minutes.

That goal really seems to have knocked the stuffing out of Luton Town.

You can see a couple of the players' heads appear to have dropped a little and there's less confidence on the ball.

On the flip side Argyle are playing with a swagger right now, helped by an incredibly excitable Home Park crowd.
