Utter dross on Saturday evening. Worst performance I’ve seen as a Tottenham supporter for 45 years. At least under Ange we had an attack, we haven’t anything under Frank...

More from Tottenham manager Thomas Frank on his meeting with Micky van de Ven and Djed Spence and how it transpired: "If they didn't come in, of course I would have had to ask them about the situation they are working in. How they are feeling, why they are doing it, because we all have a perception?

"Whether it was because their mum wasn't well or they didn't like the head coach or they were irritated by the performance because they lost, or whatever.

"We are very good at that, none of us knows.

"So that would be my first question to them - how were they and why?

"Of course, I am happy that they were coming in because that means they care - I think that is very good. They care about the team, the club and in this case me. I am happy with that.

"Then we just had a good talk about a lot of things and like everything we keep it internally.

"It would be very, very, very unusual if I would ever throw a player under the bus. We are all human, but I will always protect them."

The Spurs have always been an attacking team, currently it looks like they have forgotten that. Xavi Simons is a liability. The back four look sorted most of the time, but struggle to play out. Understandably, this is a time of flux, but when will it click???

Of course Frank is right, people being on your back all day at work doesn't help. I get that the fans get frustrated but have some perspective. We're top 6 and unbeaten in Europe without playing our best. Just because you pay £70 for a ticket, doesn't guarantee a win.

    Lee

It's not all down to fans, I'm sure we can get back up to speed once we get a couple wins and some players back from injury. We Spurs fans need to relax and back the project, it'll take time

    Amir

Massive overreaction to Spurs form. Frank has had to teach a team to defend again after two years of chaotic football. Fifth after 10 games is hardly a disaster. Single goal losses too. Newcastle and Villa are in bottom half yet little mention of their terrible start.

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank on fans being unhappy with the style of play: "It all depends on the narrative and who is saying. Whether it's one person writing on social media.

"I am very aware we haven't been free-flowing in some games. There has been definitely moments when it has been quite good.

"It's something we work very hard on every single day.

"It's fair to say that every team I have managed we have been able to score a lot of goals. I also had a Brentford team that created a lot of top goalscorers and we hope to do the same again here.

"I also think it is fair to say we are working very hard on it, on creating good relations, a good structure and to be confident."

  7. 'Always listen to good suggestions'published at 14:43 GMT

    Tottenham Hotspur

More from Tottenham manager Thomas Frank on whether his side should train at the stadium to help improve their home form: "Maybe, I haven't thought about it. I am always listening to good suggestions."

On the reasons behind the defeat to Chelsea: "On Saturday night it was the accumulations of a lot of things. A big London derby. We always hope we can beat them and haven't won against them for a long time. We didn't so that just added a bit [of anxiety]."

Frank has tried to make Spurs more pragmatic, less of the gung-ho, high press under Ange, with a more solid midfield 3 and more direct play. However, they are still conceding chances and their attack looks blunt! Maybe they just need their more creative players back fit ...

Tottenham don't usually do incredibly against Chelsea. They were exceptionally poor this time around but they'd have conceded more last season. You're in 5th and have had a fairly favourable run in. You've a young squad who finished 17th and are now in the CL, Have perspective - stop booing.

  10. 'Tomorrow will be a little bit special'published at 14:37 GMT

Tottenham v Copenhagen (Tue, 20:00 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank on his personal rivalry with FC Copenhagen, having spent three years in charge of their Danish rivals Brondby from 2013-2016.

On relationship with the Copenhagen fans:

"I think they will be pleased to meet me again.

"There was a relationship because I was the head coach of Brondby. They, obviously, are not the biggest fan of me. But that's fair. That's part of it."

    On having Brondby 'genes':

"Of course, having been three years at Brondy, the fans get under your skin and the club does as well, so, of course that is Brondby that got my support.

"Tomorrow it's in some ways a little bit special of course against a Danish team, where I know quite a few who work in the backroom staff and the club.

"I know some of the Danish players whether they've been national team or whatever. That's why it's a little more special.

"Tomorrow I just want to win. We're playing Champions League. We're playing at home. The best way to get a little bit back on track is to win at home and that's the main bit."

Guglielmo Vicario on the negative reaction of the fans at full-time: "I think it’s normal. When I was a fan as a kid and going to the stadiums I saw things, in Italy it was probably a bit worse, so I have big shoulders about that so it’s not a problem.

"It’s like when you go to the theatre and you go to a show and you don’t like it. You are allowed to express how you are feeling. For us the main thing is to concentration on what we have to do on the pitch and our game plan. It’s on us."

As a Spurs fan this is a terrible press conference, players blaming us for their terrible performance and sulking off because we had 0.05xg at home. Maybe they need to look at themselves and give us something to get behind.

  13. 'In final 15 minutes fans can carry us over the line'published at 14:31 GMT

Tottenham v Copenhagen (Tue, 20:00 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank on on the boos from fans late in Saturday's defeat to Chelsea: "The fans were fantastic for the first 30 minutes of the game on Saturday night. I think the noise was incredible and that carried us forward.

"It seems there was a little bit of a turning point when we conceded the goal, when we all got a little bit frustrated, which is natural.

"I think it is more than fair because we are in the performance business. If we can't deal with the pressure or deal with the negativity and the criticism we shouldn't be sitting here.

"We are in the football world because we love the game. We love to be part of something and we love to be part of a team.

"It's nice to be in the big occasions - but we play because we love football.

"I think the fans were fantastic the first 30 and after the game, if we perform badly and on top of that lost a game, then more than fair enough to boos us. But during the game we need a little bit of help, especially when it is not going the right way. They can be the turning point.

"We were down 1-0. The last 15 minutes they can carry us over the line. If we could have got it back to 1-1 - what a feeling! That point could be the difference at the end of a long season."

Tottenham v Copenhagen (Tue, 20:00 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Guglielmo Vicario on the decision to play a short free-kick during injury time: “You make some decisions on the pitch which aren’t always the best, and we probably could have decided to probably put the ball forward rather than play short in that situation.

"It was the wrong decision but football is about trying to make the right ones. You cannot do it 100 per cent of the time. "

The problem is not the players it's the manager. In the Super Cup against PSG they were brilliant for 80 minutes, then Frank changed 4 players which changed the whole balance of the team. He has no idea which players or formation are best to play.

  17. 'Everyone would have taken that situation where we are now'published at 14:22 GMT

Tottenham v Copenhagen (Tue, 20:00 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank on the club's poor home form, which pre-dates his appointment over the summer: "Of course it is a relatively small sample for me to look into if I am honest. First and foremost we need to work very hard on keep adding performances, to keep adding layers, to keep improving. We work very hard on the training pitch, in meeting rooms on actions and I see a good improvement in the team in general.

"Of course, we are coming on the back of a bad performance - there is a big flashing light right now. Everyone has a little bit of a struggle to look past that to see some of the very good performances we have had this year as well.

"I also think we are coming in off the back of what was in many ways a fantastic season and also a tough season. If anyone had said that we would now be 17 points after 10 games, unbeaten in the Champions League - everything is not perfect, but there is a decent foundation.

"Everyone would have taken that situation where we are now in terms of 22 defeats last year and finishing 17th."

Tottenham v Copenhagen (Tue, 20:00 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Guglielmo Vicario on fan interaction: “We [the team] have spoken and think in some moments during the game, especially when we are chasing we need to keep cool heads.

"If we had more help from the stands if it could be better but of course, we cannot control it. At the end of course everyone was really disappointed because we had lost a London derby. We got the reaction of the fans at the end of the game, of course they can express their pain, and we are in a big painful situation."

  20. Team news - Bergvall out, Spence & Kudus 'may be available'published at 14:13 GMT

Tottenham v Copenhagen (Tue, 20:00 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank on team news: "Lucas [Bergvall] got concussion, which was pretty obvious from the footage. We have to give praise to the medical team because it is a tricky situation to be in. So well done to them because the players' health is the most important thing. Djed [Spence] and Mo [Kudus] got a knock - they could and should be available tomorrow."
