  1. Who will win the Champions League?published at 19:53 BST

Liverpool v Atletico Madrid (20:00 BST)

    John Murray
BBC football correspondent on BBC Radio 5 Live

When a team wins Europe's richest league at a comparative canter then spends the best part of half a billion pounds on new players, while at the same time securing the services of two of the club's greatest servants, it's difficult to tip anyone other than Liverpool.

Last season they lost out only narrowly to the eventual winners in a penalty shootout. It would be a tremendous prospect if this season Liverpool and PSG were to make it all the way to the final in Budapest.

  2. 'Kane has had even bigger impact than Bellingham'published at 19:52 BST

Bayern Munich v Chelsea (20:00 BST)

    Pat Nevin
Former Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 Live at Allianz Arena

It has been grotesquely unfair on Harry Kane that [Bellingham receiving more praise for his success at Madrid than Kane in Munich] has been the case. Kane has had an even bigger impact here on Bayern Munich.

There are maybe not as many good players around him and at times there have been times where Kane has been carrying this team. He really should be looked upon as one of the greats.

Shame to bench Ekitike, much more suited to combat the defensive game Atletico will play!

  4. Bayern out to hit the ground runningpublished at 19:50 BST

Bayern Munich v Chelsea (20:00 BST)

    Ian Dennis
BBC Radio 5 Live senior football reporter at Allianz Arena

Bayern Munich haven't lost at home in the group stages/league phase of the Champions League since December 2013 to Manchester City, when their manager Vincent Kompany was an unused substitute for the visitors.

That's 34 undefeated games. They will be out to hit the ground running tonight.

As a Liverpool fan I still feel salty over the loss to Atletico Madrid in 2020 just before the Covid lockdown. I am feeling good for tonight. I just hope that we can put three or four goals past them to ease that feeling.

  7. 'Chelsea creating something special'published at 19:47 BST

Bayern Munich v Chelsea (20:00 BST)

    Guillem Balague
Spanish football journalist to BBC Sport

I think Chelsea are creating something special. Remember when their fans were moaning about the team?

The hardest thing is to see the bigger picture when you are a fan.

But Chelsea have got youth, direction, a fantastic manager, ambition and order.

  10. 'Chelsea worried about what might happen on wings'published at 19:44 BST

Bayern Munich v Chelsea (20:00 BST)

    Pat Nevin
Former Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 Live at Allianz Arena

I think Chelsea are a little bit frightened about what can happen down the wings. They won't overly worry about Cucurella up against Olise, Cucurella is just about the best in the world in that position, but Gusto has been shown up a couple of times when played as an out and out full-back.

He might need a bit of help when Diaz and Gnabry drift out wide there, that's why they've got James and Fernandez in the midfield.

Seeing Isak start for us feels a bit like a fever dream for me, I think I need a lie down

    Joshua, Nottingham

Slot’s already said Isak is only playing 45 minutes, so he’ll be off at half time either way, good or bad. Genius management!

    FT: Olympiacos 0-0 Pafos

It may have been one of the worst games of football I've seen in recent memory but Pafos won't care!

The Cypriot side have earned a point in their first ever Champions League game while being down to 10 men.

  13. 'If Liverpool and their fans thought Burnley was bad...'published at 19:42 BST

Liverpool v Atletico Madrid (20:00 BST)

    Julien Laurens
European football expert on BBC Radio 5 Live

Atletico Madrid are a team that are happy to sit deep and frustrate you and defend for 95 minutes. If Liverpool and their fans thought Burnley was bad on Saturday in terms of low block and a team that doesn't play, then this will be another example of that.

They are good on the counter and have some very good attacking players, but they are just a defensive minded team.

  14. Chelsea arrived late at the Allianz Arenapublished at 19:41 BST

Bayern Munich v Chelsea (20:00 BST)

    Ian Dennis
BBC Radio 5 Live senior football reporter at Allianz Arena

Chelsea arrived late for this match after getting stuck in traffic on the way to the Allianz Arena.

They arrived just one hour and 10 minutes before kick-off. They were out to warm up a few minutes after the home Bayern Munich side.

  15. 'Might see better from Wirtz playing off Isak'published at 19:40 BST

Liverpool v Atletico Madrid (20:00 BST)

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

What an array of attacking talent for Arne Slot to call upon. To bring Isak in, he finally has the opportunity to show what he can do in a Liverpool shirt. Then there's Wirtz, who has not quite hit the ground running as you would expect - but you might see better from him now playing up there off Isak.

  16. Bayern Munich have a quality XI but not much elsepublished at 19:39 BST

Bayern Munich v Chelsea (20:00 BST)

    Nizaar Kinsella
    BBC Sport Chelsea reporter

Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Luis Diaz are part of an all-star starting eleven for Bayern Munich against a visiting Chelsea side.

However, they only have five senior players on their bench, including Nicolas Jackson.

They are seemingly so short that they have called up two academy players I watched in the Under-19s match this afternoon - as Chelsea won 3-2 away in the opening Youth League match between these two sides.

  19. Double double Dutchpublished at 19:37 BST

Virgil van Dijk, Jeremie Frimpong, Ryan Gravenberch and Cody Gakpo all start for Liverpool. 20. Quick reunion for Nicolas Jacksonpublished at 19:36 BST

Bayern Munich v Chelsea (20:00 BST)

    Nizaar Kinsella
    BBC Sport Chelsea reporter

Bayern Munich striker Nicolas Jackson hugged a couple of members of Chelsea's coaching staff before going back to warm up with the subs.

Of course, he left the Blues in a turbulent summer move but maintains some positive relationships and - should he come on - will face his parent club while only on loan with the German club.
