Tottenham resemble a croquembouche (probably an inverted one under Ange). Beautiful to look at, consisting mostly of puff pastry, but very prone to collapsing.

He does well, Mohammed Kudus, to keep the ball down.

Kudus could have maybe whipped it in the near posit, but Vicario does well standing his ground.

    A good reflex save.

First time West Ham attack Spurs and they should be 1-0 up!

It's good work down the right and the ball is eventually pulled back to an unmarked Mohammed Kudus, but he blasts his shot straight at Guglielmo Vicario who tips over.

  5. Can Johnson score again?published at 12:40 British Summer Time 19 October

Brennan Johnson struck a lovely attempt on goal from a wide angle seven minutes into this match.

Buoyed by the home crowd, Spurs have started strongly but it was an Alphonse Areola goal kick put his own team under pressure.

The Welshman is looking to score for the eighth game in a row for club and country, an extraordinary effort given the criticism he faced beforehand.

Alphonse Areola under pressure from the high line. He tries to play a chip pass out and gets it wrong.

Tottenham hit them on the break and Brennan Johnson hits it on the volley, a whisker away.

Was going to put Brennan Johnson into my Fantasy team but I completely forget and I've now missed the deadline. Feel awful.

Tottenham win a corner by the way after good work from Son Heung-Min, but it's cleared away.

    Oh hello!

The ball drops nicely for in-form Brennan Johnson inside the West Ham box and he swings his foot at it, unleashing a powerful volley from a tight angle that goes just wide.

Johnson is full of confidence at the moment. He looks up for this.

Nice little stat from our friends at Opta...

West Ham have named an unchanged starting XI for the third successive game, their longest such run in the Premier League since October 2023 (run of five).

    Consistency.

A pattern is emerging as Tottenham keep the ball in the West Ham half.

That is until Yves Bissouma gives it away, under pressure.

It's a big game for Ange Postecoglou.

Off the back of going up 2-0 against Brighton and then losing. That will not go down well with the fans and today is important to get back to winning ways.

Nice ball forward from Spurs' Pedro Porro, looking for Dominic Solanke, but West Ham keeper Alphonse Areola is quick off his line to hammer the ball out for a throw.

Well there won't be an early goal in this one. Play is stopped as Lucas Paqueta recovers from a tumble while going up for a header.

Spurs need to sell Romero and Porro to Real Madrid and replace them with solid pros who can actually defend. Max Kilman would have been perfect.

With Ange Postecoglou it's a sense of frustration.

I noticed it with the Australian national team, he called in the media when he took over and explained what he was trying to do and even show them videos.

Over time there was a sense from the media that they didn't feel like there was any progression - then there was questions being asked.

  20. Ideal conditions for football in North Londonpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 19 October

Tottenham v West Ham (12:30 GMT)

    Nizaar Kinsella
    BBC Sport football news reporter

There has been rain all morning ahead of kick-off but it has cleared up with blue skies overhead just before this heated London derby match.

The pitch should be nice and slick for Ange Postecoglou's intense, stylish football with West Ham increasingly looking to play expansive football under Julen Lopetegui.

A great day for autumn in England for the first Premier League kick-off after the international break.
