    Chelsea winger Jamie Gittens just controlled a cross-field ball with his back in shades of Barcelona legend Ronaldinho.

    The atmosphere is a little flat at Stamford Bridge and maybe there is a bit of a sense that Ajax are not the force that they once were.

    Storm Benjamin has rolled in and is drenching the pitch now after a lovely sunny day out in London beforehand.

    What a start for Bayern Munich, and what a start for 17-year-old Lennart Karl!

    The teenager hits a brilliant curling effort from just outside the box with his left foot, and keeper Nordin Jackers can't get near it as it cruises into the top corner.

    It's only the second time he has played in European football, after a brief substitute appearance against Pafos. Remember the name Lennart Karl!

    Now half an opening for Liverpool at the other end and Alexander Isak is at the heart of the move. A minute or so later Isak fires in another shot from an angle which forces Michael Zetterer into a good save.

    When you have been out of the team for a while, your depth perception is one of the hardest things to pick back up as a goalkeeper - your reading of the through ball.

    Immediately here, Filip Jorgensen's first touch was misjudged and Fofana had to sweep up. It didn't come to anything in the end but you can tell he is a little but stuttery

    Liverpool's shape is a 4-4-2 out of possession but it becomes a 4-2-3-1 when they have the ball. Gakpo and Frimpong are giving them width high up the pitch and Wirtz is starting on the right and coming inside to operate behind the front two.

    That's a smart save by Giorgi Mamardashvili who gets down to keep out Jean-Mattéo Bahoya who was afforded far too much space before bursting into the box.

    The offside flag goes up but replays show that might have counted had that gone in.

    A lofted pass by Curtis Jones intended for Alexander Isak lands in front of goalkeeper Michael Zetterer. High pitched whistles from the stands each time a red shirt has the ball.

    Almost a mix-up between Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana and goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen when dealing with a long-ball but Fofana sorts it out.

    Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo has been moved to right-back with Reece James rested and Malo Gusto out through illness.

    I don't think anyone will worry about how he will do out in an unusual position given his quality and having played there brilliantly a few times before at both Brighton and Chelsea.

    It's exactly 29 years since Chelsea vice chairman Matthew Harding died in a helicopter crash and this is a club that has not forgotten.

    There are chants for the much-loved former director, a banner in the Matthew Harding End and club announcer Lee Parker kickstarted the proceedings.
