I don't like the Chelsea lineup any more than anyone else does, but with all the injuries and bonkers schedule, our depth players do need to step up. Tonight's a great chance to show they're good enough.

The Chelsea team selection seems crazy? Why change so many players at the same time. Clearly Maresca does not respect this competition.

    Liverpool

Liverpool are pressing the reset button yet again. Will we see a different outcome this time? They really could do with a win in Germany as they face record 15-time winners Real Madrid in their next match in the competition at Anfield on 4 November.

    Chelsea v Ajax (20:00 BST)

Ajax have lost their last five European matches – including three in the Europa League last season. They haven’t lost six in a row since September 1989.

  10. 'Fans will be really loud'published at 19:53 BST 22 October

Eintracht Frankfurt v Liverpool (20:00 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Arne Slot on Eintracht Frankfurt: "Every time you play a game in a Liverpool shirt, the aim is to win that game of football. Now we play Frankfurt away, which is maybe a bit similar to Galatasaray, a stadium where the fans will be really loud.

"So, apart from the quality Frankfurt have, this is something we have to take into account as well. But our players are used to playing in these circumstances."

  11. Osimhen brace secures Galatasaray winpublished at 19:52 BST 22 October

Victor Osimhen's first half brace proved to be the difference as Galatasaray beat Bodo/Glimt 3-1 in another early kick off.

In truth, the score line could have been much higher with the Turkish champions missing a number of opportunities, and a second half consolation goal from Andreas Helmerson probably made the game appear more even then it should've been.

That makes it two wins out of three for Galatasary in the Champions League, whereas Bodo/Glimt are now winless in three having drawn their first two games.

The 25-year-old scored his 15th goal in his 200th appearance in the win at Nottingham Forest on Saturday and is on the bench for this match at home to Ajax.

    Chelsea

Qarabag's winning run in the Champions League has come to an end as they fell to a 3-1 defeat to Athletic Club in an earlier kick off.

Qarabag took the lead after just 48 seconds through Lenadro Andrade, however Gorka Guruzeta brought the hosts back level just before the break.

Athletic Club dominated for much of the second half, and goals from Robert Navarro and a second from Guruzeta secured their first three points of the Champions League season.

Qarabag will be proud of their efforts, however it seems the Spanish club proved a step too far in their bid to make it three wins from three.

  17. Monaco change managers this monthpublished at 19:45 BST 22 October

Monaco have a fairly new manager in Sebastien Pocognoli, who led Union Saint-Gilloise to the first ever Belgian title last season.

That was the 38-year-old’s first season as a first-team manager. He replaced the sacked Adi Hutti at Monaco earlier this month.

He only took charge for the first time in the weekend's draw with Angers.

"Of course it's hard," says Spurs boss Thomas Frank about preparing for a new manager.

"But we studied for a couple of weeks. His team at Union did very well, they won the championship in Belgium. So, that's what we do. We look at the last game they played and then a lot of games from Union.

"We have a good idea of what they want but also, we know that the very talented players speak for themselves, also under the former manager when they drew 2-2 here against City."

Rob: Arne Slot was the best thing since slice bread after winning the Premier League in his debut season despite only spending £10m on one player who hardly started a match. Won the Premier League the old-school way. This season, Slot has brought in players that will need time to settle in despite the high fees spent. Wait till the Christmas/New Year period and see what happens.

    Chelsea v Ajax (20:00 BST)

    Pat Nevin
Former Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

I have been looking back at the group stage points from last season and what got you directly through [to the knockout stages], and you can't lay back in too many games.

There are a couple of games that are close to 'gimmes' - there are no gimmes in football, but Chelsea have Pafos at home which they will probably get three points from. I would argue that tonight's game is as close to a gimme as they are going to get in the other games.

They have got Atalanta away, Barcelona, and Napoli away - you start to think how are they going to get to the number of points they need to get to.

They have made a lot of changes tonight and I think that is brave.

Eintracht Frankfurt's ground is on the edge of the city and is surrounded by forests. There will be 3,000 Liverpool fans inside at kick-off and a capacity crowd of 59,500 is expected.

Galatasaray, who beat the Reds last month, were hammered 5-1 here in the first round of matches in the league phase.
