More from Liverpool boss Arne Slot speaking to Sky Sports:

On Trent Alexander-Arnold: "He's leaving such a great club and he knows, he feels that. He has been at this club for 20 years, he knows everyone here teammates, staff members. It is normal that even only being in a club for a few years you're going to miss it, let alone 20 years and let alone Liverpool.

"The fans showed a great reaction towards him, but the quality he showed today again is why it is such a pity he is going to leave."

On introducing Trent at half time: "It was always the plan to give him some playing time. This was a good moment for him to come on and impact the game. Conor has been great the last few weeks, but he [Trent] deserved to be on the pitch for all he has done for me, for his teammates, for the fans. He deserved to be on the pitch one last time at Anfield."

  2. 'We can be really proud of our overall display'published at 19:15 British Summer Time

    FT: Southampton 1-2 Arsenal

    Southampton

Southampton interim manager Simon Rusk, speaking to Match of the Day: "Out of the seven games I've had [as manager], there's been positives in there. We were really close to taking a point off the Premier League runners-up. We can be really proud of our overall display and hopefully that's a good platform going into next season.

"It was about supporting the players as best we can in the circumstances, some debuts in there, some good results, and it was nice for us to be competitive against such a good side today."

On his future at the club following Will Still's appointment: "I've had no information on my future. My concentration was to support the players in delivering a game plan to get something out of these games. It's good for everyone to have clarity on who the manager is going to be and I'm sure when the time is right, I'll get some clarity on my own future."

More from Liverpool boss Arne Slot speaking to Sky Sports:

On summer transfer business: "I don't know if it's going to be a lot but we know, the club, Richard [Hughes], the ownership, we are all aligned on what we are trying to achieve. It is already ,very very positive that we kept Mo and Virgil and a few others that we are trying to sign look positive.

"We are very happy with the squad that we have. This club has always shown that if they can strengthen, that's what we do. Big summer or not, it is already big because we won the league.

On going again next year: "It would be weird if I played completely differently because we have just won the league, but we have to adapt. You always have to try to become better. We have to improve with these players and if there is a possibility to strengthen with the other players too. Next season the competition will be better as well."

Nottingham Forest goalkeeper and Golden Glove winner Matz Sels, speaking to Sky Sports: "It's a big achievement so I'm really happy but not only for me but for the team. it means we had a great season, almost the whole season on a Champions League spot. Sadly we couldn't finish it today but we need to be proud of the season we've had. We will play in Europe.

"When I came last year, I came in a difficult situation. This kind of achievement is always from the team. It's the same if a striker scorers a lot of goals."

  5. 'Massive error to disallow Villa goal'published at 19:10 British Summer Time

FT: Man Utd 2-0 Aston Villa

    Robbie Savage
Former Leicester midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Watch it on TV and you can clearly hear the whistle go and all the referee has to do is wait two seconds.

The officials say don't put your flag up, so we'll see a player in an offside position by five or six yards, they let the play go on, wait and then they stick the flag up 15 seconds later. All they had to do was let it run out then use VAR and if he wanted to give the free-kick he would've but he's blown his whistle. It's a massive, massive error.

Man Utd might've gone on to win the game but at 1-0 Villa it's a completely different game. That is a huge, huge, huge decision by the referee because VAR couldn't get involved because the game was dead.

Massive talking point for Villa fans.

  8. 'I told the referee but he knows it'published at 19:05 British Summer Time

FT: Man Utd 2-0 Aston Villa

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery speaking to TNT Sports on Morgan Rogers' disallowed goal: "Good evening. The TV is clear with the move but of course, we have to accept it. It was a mistake. A big mistake.

"The match we played overall in 90 minutes with the red card and this goal disallowed, it was a key moment. but overall, they did more. But we showed resilience with one player less. We could have scored one goal and it would have been a good opportunity to continue and keep the result. We didn't perform enough today to get a good result but we could get it, in case some decision weren't like it was."

On whether he has talked to referee about the incident: "Yes, I told him but he knows it."

On whether the referee admitted it was a mistake: "The next question?"

On whether VAR rules need to be changed: "I don't want to speak about VAR now."

On Aston Villa's season: "We did a big effort during the second part of the season. We lost the chance to be in the top five during the first half. I was happy with how we progressed in the season and achieved the opportunity to play today for the Champions League position.

"We got the Europa League and we have to be more or less happy about the achievement. But we were close to the Champions League. We have to be happy and proud of everything we did but we always want to improve. We need to keep going and the Premier League is the most difficult league and to get Europe through the league is difficult."

Leicester boss Ruud van Nistelrooy speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I think the turning point was the first goal because we were in the game, it was a very level match. Off the ball we controlled but we weren't able to create an awful lot but some okay spells. When you look at the players we had to miss today it was 10 or 12 players but the players did well and very, very young players came on. In the end, I see these positives. The run of results and run of form that we were able to show in the last five six weeks we take that into the next season, that's what we wanted. It's time to rest now."

On what he thinks will happen to his future this week: "I hope to speak with them."

On whether he would like to stay: "I would like to talk and that's the first thing that needs to happen. It's been silent and it's something towards the end of the season and get things done with and then I expect to hear something."

On whether the difference of being in the Championship to the Premier League is a worry: "It's important to start talking and to see how we look into the future. It's what you need to find out. So far there hasn't been any conversation but I'm waiting for that to happen."

  12. 'Going into another final and we have our eyes on the prize'published at 19:02 British Summer Time

    FT: Nott'm Forest 0-1 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea captain Reece James, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "It is an amazing feeling.

"We knew coming here on the final day would be tough. They have had an amazing season - they have so much threat going forward.

"We had to dig in. We both needed to win, but I am so happy that the team got the job done today.

"We talk about being the best team-mate and everybody showed that today.

"So many people before the season, during the season had disbelief - they told us 'we were you young, inexperienced and were not going to make it'.

    "But we are here.

"The season has been long and tough. We started off so well, but then we had a dip.

"Going into another final and we have our eyes on the prize."

Liverpool boss Arne Slot speaking to Sky Sports: "It's always special to win something, but at certain clubs maybe a little bit more. I experienced this at Feyenoord where the fans are so passionate, and it's the same and more over here.

"I don't think you expect anything like this. if you look at the Premier leaguer in the last few seasons it was always a race to the end, two or three teams competing to the last day. To be part of it was already nice let alone to win it."

On when his mind switches to next season: Probably four weeks ago! It never stops. Even during the season you are looking to the next one. The sporting director is more involved in the long term than me but he keeps me involved the whole time, as you can expect. The targets we have now did not come up last week. We've been looking at them for a long time."

On the defining moment of the season: "Thinking we would be part of it came early in the season after the United win. Before that we played good teams but to beat them 3-0 in their stadium when we expected them to be top six it was 'Ok we can compete for the league this season'. Then after City away that was really a moment where I thought it was going to be difficult for other teams to end up above us."

Golden Glove winner David Raya: "I'm very pleased with my individual season. I stepped up my game from last year to this year, being a bit more settled into this amazing club. I'm just trying to do my job and help the team as much as possible."

On the win over Southampton and Arsenal's season: "Three points was the main thing. I don't think the performance was the best. You could tell we were tired and lack a bit of rhythm, but we got over the line. That's the most important thing.

"We know that there were some times [this season] where we conceded goals when we shouldn't have, dropped points when we shouldn't have. That's part of football and something we need to learn. We need to see games out sometimes."

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, speaking to Sky Sports: "They grow a lot as a team and a player and they showed how good they are today.

"I hope so, we brought this club where it has to be. We finished sixth last year and most of the time, they forget that.

"The only thing I knew was when Man United scored their second one. They told me 2-0. We didn't need the rest to drop points, we won."

"I think this will be one of the best days in my life. Everyone is really happy. It is beautiful to see.

"We grew into the season. From the start we gave everything and now is the day to celebrate it."

    FT: Nottingham Forest 0-1 Chelsea

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I have to thank the players for their commitment, when you give everything you have, you cannot say anything about it.

"We started well and controlled the game. Second half, we rushed and the anxiety didn't help us. It was not enough.

"They were good chances for us. It was there, we didn't achieve it. It's hard when it was in your hands in the end and it doesn't go your way.

"There are many things that happen during the season. It is not always possible to be better than the other teams. We wanted to go for the game today so the boys did well. It is a tough competition.

"All the circumstances that happened didn't help, but that is not an excuse. I felt we were there. I'm very proud of the boys and all I can do is thank them.

"We are in good place and now it's time to reflect and focus on the future. This is not a moment to speak about me. It's about the club."

Manchester United's Christian Eriksen speaking to BBC Match of the Day, on scoring in his final game for the club: "It's the best way possible with the season in mind. It was good to finish off with a bit of a smile on people's face and give something back to the fans.

"On the pitch, Bruno [Fernandes] was asking if I was going to take the penalty. I said no and that I'll give it to Jonny [Evans]. But Jonny didn't want to take it.

"It was a nice gesture. Bruno is the number one and he decides. And luckily he gave it to me today. It was a good way to see it off.

"Wednesday was a big blow. To lose a final is never nice. But we showed character to bounce back and finish the season with a smile and to give something to us and the fans."

On his United career: "My time here has been really special. There has been some good moments and bad moments. I like the pressure to be able to play for a club like United. It's been a special three year."

On what next: "The next chapter starts with a bit of a holiday and then go with the national team and then another holiday. Then we will see where we are going to play football"

Our first half was really good, we created many problems and had chances but it wasn't enough. The anxiety in the last minutes didn't help us.

"We are proud and we go again. You know that one goal can change everything. the improvement of the players is huge, the platform of the club is good. If you ask me, it's a good season because of the commitment of the players."
