Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola on Antoine Semenyo's being available: "Very, very pleased. [that Semenyo's scan was clear], especially on Monday when we did the MRI and everything was clear, no big injuries. It was a huge boost for us because he is a very important player for the end of the season and also for the start of next season. It was a really ugly way of falling and it's really good news.

"I think we are not risking players, players that are in the last part of the recovery process. We will have to make the decisions if they are comfortable and there is no risk obviously I would love to make them play but we have to be smart in these last three games."

  7. Former referee Clattenburg resigns from Forest rolepublished at 14:22 British Summer Time 3 May

    Nottingham Forest

Former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg has left his role as referee analyst for Nottingham Forest.

Clattenburg only took up the role three months ago but has cited his work as being "more of a hinderance than help" among the reasons for leaving.

A statement from Clattenburg via Nottingham Forest reads: "This is to announce that I will no longer be providing match analysis services to NFFC.

"Since February this year, I have been proud to have done so under a consultancy agreement between NFFC and Referee Consultant Ltd.

"I performed my services under the consultancy agreement in good faith, to the best of my abilities and in the hope of using my extensive experience as a match official to help NFFC understand how decisions in relation to key match incidents are made amid the workings of VAR.

"However, it is now clear that the existence and performance of these consultancy services has caused unintended friction between NFFC and other participants, to the extent that it has become more of a hinderance than help to NFFC. It has also led to the unmerited targeting of me, personally, by certain participants and pundits.

"Such reactions and outcome was not expected and is regrettable, as it is my sincere belief that there is a place for and value in such a role in the modern game.

"I am grateful to NFFC and wish them all the best during the remainder of the season and in the future. It’s been an honour."

  8. 'Smashed it' - Klopppublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 3 May

Liverpool v Tottenham (Sun, 16:30 BST)

    Mandeep Sanghera
    BBC Sport

Jurgen Klopp was absolutely box office earlier in his news conference today.

Whether he was demob happy or just that he wanted to air some grievances before he leaves at the end of the season, the Liverpool boss did not hold back.

Klopp gave a ‘whoo’ of exclamation when he walked into the room as there were quite a lot of the assembled media present and he shared a joke with one of the reporters to start off when it was mentioned he was a bit late.

There was plenty of anticipation about what he might have to say on the touchline row with Mohamed Salah at West Ham last Saturday, especially considering the Egypt forward had said, after the game, that there would be “fire” if he spoke.

Klopp played that down, saying the issue had been resolved, and instead turned his ire on the Premier League and broadcasters for a packed fixture schedule and, in particular, TNT Sports for the 12:30 kick-offs.

The game at West Ham was an early kick-off last Saturday and followed an intense run of matches.

The Reds had played Sunday, Thursday for three weeks before a trip to Fulham on Sunday, 21 April, a visit to derby rivals Everton on Wednesday 24 April and then 12:30 against the Hammers last Saturday.

During that run, Liverpool’s title challenge was all-but ended and the club were knocked out of the Europa League.

“It’s a general problem. That they dare to give Thursday, Sunday, Wednesday, Saturday 1230 is a crime – I was actually waiting for Amnesty International to go to them,” said Klopp.

The German has regularly aired his issues about the fixture list and the stats back him up on the 12:30 kick-off issue.

So far this season, Liverpool have had six games kick-off at 12:30, while title rivals Manchester City have had three and Arsenal just the one.

Klopp also blamed the fixture schedule for Premier League teams as the reason why only one is left in Europe’s top three competitions.

The Liverpool manager called his view “a little advice from an old man on the way out” but whether the issue will be addressed remains to be seen.

On his way out of the door, Klopp finished with a “smashed it” and he certainly delivered some big punches to some of football’s powerbrokers.
