Villa have been so passive in those areas, but take nothing away from Palace and how clinical they've been.

Tonight, they've been brilliant in front of goal.

From a Villa point of view, it is too easy for Palace to put the ball in the ball in the back of the net.

Crystal Palace could be 4-1 up! Tyrick Mitchell is free on the left and he looks to find the bottom corner across Robin Olsen but he gets it all wrong.

A really good, teasing ball into the box from Neto. It just looped over the defenders and ended up just outside the six yard box, and Levi Colwill was the one that got on the end of it. Really well worked goal by Chelsea.

How are we losing this match? Typical Villa. The by-a-toenail offside decision aside, we should have been 3-1 up. Watkins looks like he couldn't hit a barn door. Need to win this to keep touch with top 4, especially having played more games than those teams around us. Come on Villa!

  15. Chelsea and Palmer can build confidence nowpublished at 21:01 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    Chelsea 3-0 Southampton

    Nizaar Kinsella
    BBC Sport football news reporter

Chelsea have dropped 15 points from winning positions in the Premier League this season - with 13 of those coming since the Boxing Day defeat at home to Fulham.

However, it is hard to see them struggling to get over the line against this struggling Southampton team and the focus should now be on building confidence.

Remarkably, maybe it is Cole Palmer who needs the confidence most of all having missed three big chances - all of which you would normally expect him to score.

Southampton have played well for most of this match but were poor defensively for Pedro's Neto's lead-extending second goal.
