  4. 'Palmer needs a bit of re-aligment'published at 22:54 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    FT: Chelsea 4-0 Southampton

    Mark Schwarzer
Former Chelsea & Fulham goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Cole Palmer looks like someone that needs a bit of re-aligment. He just looks off. For him it is frustrating because he had quite a few good chances and didn't take them.

He's down on confidence, snapping at things, and doesn't quite have the fluidity he had before.

  5. 'Palmer can't always be like how he was last season'published at 22:52 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    FT: Chelsea 4-0 Southampton

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca speaking to TNT Sports: "We all needed that. We were in a bad run in term of results. The performance was always there maybe except against Brighton. The club needed that. We are happy.

"In these month and half has been when I have pushed players even more to believe in the process. Since we started, we have almost been in the top four. But now it's normal to go through some bad moments. It's about how we react and how we continue to believe in what we do. The players are fantastic and worked hard every day."

On Pedro Neto playing centrally: "In this moment, we have five, six, seven important injuries. All the clubs when they have this kind of injuries, we are all on the same page. We started the season very good for long period. Then with injuries especially to our box striker, we tried different solutions. We tried with Pedro as a number nine last week. He was good then and tonight as well."

On Christopher Nkunku: "I am happy with him. But I know he can give more. We expect more from him. But at the same time, we try to understand him. He is not a number nine and not a winger. He played as a winger tonight. He is an attacking midfielder. The problem is that sometimes we need to find the balance."

On youngsters coming off the bench: "Probably, there were too many young players at the end. The Chelsea academy has always been a good one. We have already many players like Levi Colwill and hopefully in the future, we can have more."

On Tyrique George's chances of playing in the Conference League: "Yes. Especially because we have the Conference League and then Leicester. For us, the priority is to take the club to where it need to be - which is the Champions League."

On Cole Palmer's form: "We are all former players. All of us went through some bad moments. You cannot expect Palmer to be like he was last season or how he was in the first part of the season. It's normal. He is human. I was telling him it was normal. He is happy. He is OK. He has shared the changing room with some top players and he knows that every top player goes through bad moments. It's about how you react. Keep working, keep laughing, keep calm, be happy and enjoy the football. It's the only thing you have to do."

  6. 'We cannot rely on Cole for every game'published at 22:50 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    FT: Chelsea 4-0 Southampton

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca to BBC Match of the Day: "Very happy. We said already that from now on every game is important. And if we get three points it's even better.

"First of all, every game is tricky and anything can happen. We have to embrace that and we started the game in the right way. This is the worst game because everyone takes it for granted. It's dangerous.

"I think the performance was there. Even the last game against Aston Villa the performance was there.

"We said since we start we cannot rely on Cole [Palmer] for every game. He has to continue to work, continue to be happy, continue to laugh they way he does. We are completely happy with him. It is normal to go through a moment where you struggle to score but it doesn't matter. Just continue and you are going to score many goals.

"In some games we have been unlucky and we could have finished it with a clean sheet.

"The players are happy, this is good. We know that every game is difficult and we're trying to win as many games as we can."

  7. 'I know the Championship is a real possibility'published at 22:48 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    FT: Chelsea 4-0 Southampton

    Southampton

Southampton boss Ivan Juric speaking to TNT Sports on what the "structural problems" at the club that he suggested are: "The numbers say that. With different styles of football with different coaches, the results are still the same. It is a big lesson for all of us to create something stronger and better than this.

"We have a lot of young players. They want to grow up. They are really good guys. Maybe they are playing in the Premier League for the first time. It is not easy. But I am not scared. If they work hard, we will keep going."

On whether he wants to stay at the club: "Yes. I know the situation is difficult and the Championship is real possibility. My idea was to come to England after many years in Italy. I have started to create something and I know I need to have patience. My idea was the same two months ago and it's still the same."

  8. 'Once Chelsea scored that was it'published at 22:47 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    FT: Chelsea 4-0 Southampton

    Mike Minay
BBC Radio 5 Live reporter at Stamford Bridge

Southampton actually started the game well. They had a bit about them, had a bit of pace in their play, although they were not necessarily creating chances. Something to show competitive nature.

However once Chelsea scored that was it. Might as well have packed up and headed back to the south coast, and that was after 20 minutes or so.

  9. 'It was the reaction that we definitely needed'published at 22:46 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    FT: Chelsea 4-0 Southampton

    Chelsea

Chelsea defender Levi Colwill speaking to TNT Sports: "It was a reaction that we definitely needed. The plan is to take it game by game and perform like that all the time."

On Christopher Nkunku: "Me and him are close. We have been talking. I know how much he wants. I know how much he cares and today is a reward for him for staying in there and digging in deep. I am so happy he scored."

On Pedro Neto: "He is an amazing player. Maybe he is playing out of position, but the best players can do that and do it really well. That's what he has been doing for us. I am over the moon for his performance."

On scoring: "I don't think [Neto] knows [it was Colwill's birthday tomorrow] to be fair. I have kept it quiet. But I am so happy to score. Obviously, it's against [Southampton]. I grew up there and I still live there. I am so happy to score against them. I have got a few friends who are Southampton fans."

On Tyrique George: "He is very very sharp. He is an amazing player who has a future ahead of him. I am really proud he got an assist."

  10. 'The confidence is still there'published at 22:45 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    FT: Chelsea 4-0 Southampton

    Southampton

Southampton boss Ivan Juric speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I think the first 20 minutes we did really well, we had a great chance with Paul [Onuachu] and we didn't score. We then conceded a set-piece and you cannot concede these types of goals against Chelsea.

"We had opportunities with the ball and big chances when we controlled the game and it would have been a good moment to score. I am really not happy to concede from a set-piece because they are already so good. It becomes tougher.

"The confidence is still there. They kept going. We cannot stop and we have to preppare well and keep going. It is a really tough situation but this is a moment to be a man and try to do our best.

"There are positives. I think it's jus the big difference. Some moments you have to score and you don't score. One vs one there is a huge difference. That doesn't mean my players don't want to play or fight. It is tough.

"The whole city is behind us and we have to do it for them."

  12. 'We have to blame ourselves'published at 22:43 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    FT: Brighton 2-1 Bournemouth

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola, speaking to TNT Sports: "I'm quite pleased with the performance but Brighton were much better with scoring and Danny Welbeck had a great finish. We had clear chances, didn't score and they made us pay.

"All the second half we had been better, but didn't score the second goal and we have to blame ourselves for how we defended their second goal - it's a play we should've defended better.

"You [the media] are the ones talking about standings, we never talk about the standings. We thought we played good enough to get the points but we were not as good as Brighton in the boxes and they were much better at getting goals."

  13. 'Welbeck getting better with age'published at 22:42 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

For Danny Welbeck it is like he is getting better with age. He started the season on fire and then picked up a few injuries, which has always been the story with his career, but he is a fantastic player and he leads by example.

Fabian Hurzeler has said before that he does not worry about his goals to game ratio because it is not just the goals it is his presence on the pitch and leadership for the team as well.

  14. 'We were a lucky winner'published at 22:41 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    FT: Brighton 2-1 Bournemouth

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler, speaking to Match of the Day, said: "It was a very intense game, both teams tried to score and tried to win. The second half was an open game and in the end we were a lucky winner."

On match-winner Danny Welbeck: "The most important thing for me is he is there as a leader and so important for the young players. He does the right things and he got what he deserved today."

On Brighton's reaction after losing 7-0 at Nottingham Forest on 1 February, but then winning their next four matches: "We reflected on the Nottingham Forest game and we were honest and took responsibility for the loss and tried to get back to the basics so credit to the players and we're really happy with this reaction."

  15. 'We could've won this game'published at 22:40 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    FT: Brighton 2-1 Bournemouth

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth goalscorer Justin Kluivert, speaking to TNT Sports: "We played a great second half, unfortunately we just lost. It was a beautiful game to play in and watch but they just got the better of us.

"It was lovely to score, especially these beautiful goals, but the three points are more beautiful and unfortunately we could not get the three points today.

"When you are up with the big boys, you need to win every game and now we've lost two games in a row, two games we could've won. But we just need to keep working hard. We had a lot of chances so we could've won this game."

  16. 'We had more clear chances'published at 22:39 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola, speaking to Match of the Day, said: "It is not a matter of luck that they scored two goals.

"Both teams were looking to win the game, it has been quite open and I liked most of the game from my side. but before the [second] goal and after we had more clear chances.

"We were not able to score the second goal and that's one of the reasons we go without any points."

  18. 'I think we slept in the dressing room'published at 22:37 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    FT: Wolves 1-2 Fulham

    Wolves

Wolves boss Vitor Pereira, speaking to BBC Match of the Day on what disappointed him most: "The goals that we conceded at the beginning of the game and the beginning of the second half. We cannot concede goals like we did. Easy goals, very easy goals.

"After it's difficult to turn over the situation, but good reaction after the first goal but two times in the same match is too much for us. In the second half, they have a lot of solutions in the game and we don't have these solutions - especially in attack.

"It's three points that we waste. It's time to work, to correct the mistakes, to not sleep in the dressing room because I think we slept in the dressing room and we went into the game sleeping. This cannot happen again."

On lack of consistency: "To play after three days we need a big squad with a lot of solutions. We need to put five in and five out but this is not the case, this is not the solution. We have some injuries and in this moment we don't have the solutions to do it."

  19. 'Nice to see Sessegnon play 70 minutes in a Fulham shirt again'published at 22:36 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    FT: Wolves 1-2 Fulham

    Fulham

Fulham head coach Marco Silva and Rodrigo Muniz of Fulham celebrateImage source, Getty Images

Fulham boss Marco Silva speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "Very good, of course the early goals made an impact. They made us play in a mid block off the ball because when you are winning they have to come a bit more. We did control the second half in a different way to what we normally do.

"In the first half they had some more dangerous moments. We had ours as well. It was really balanced. Second half, they had more of the ball but the reality was they didn't have one chance and we scored a great goal from Rodrigo [Muniz] and we had two great chances from Raul [Jimenez] and another with Andreas [Pereira] and we didn't score the third goal and kill the game.

"It's is not easy to change five players but we knew we needed some fresh players inside, we need fresh legs because it was going to be another game that demanded high energy. I am really pleased for them to see players like Jorge Cuenca and Ryan Sessegnon. It is nice to see him [Sessegnon] play 70 minutes in a Fulham shirt again."

  20. 'Fulham more than capable of pushing on'published at 22:35 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February

    FT: Wolves 1-2 Fulham

    Mark Schwarzer
Former Chelsea & Fulham goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Champions League absolutely is a possibility for Fulham. There is no reason why they can't continue this run that they are on.

Marco Silva has done an incredible job at the club since he arrived, really transforming them into a Premier League mainstay club. They look a good side, like they have evolved and been in the league for many seasons now.

Seventh is the club's highest ever finish in a Premier League season, that is the year I was there, and it would be wonderful if they could do that and more this season. They are more than capable of pushing on.
