    Stephen Warnock

Job well done from Liverpool in what could potentially have been a banana skin.

They were better in the second half and dominant but saw the game out in a professional manner and were quite comfortable in the end.

  3. Alvarez puts Atletico in frontpublished at 21:55 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

    Atletico Madrid 2-1 Bayer Leverkusen

This game has been brilliant and it has a third goal. Who for? Atletico of course. Julian Alvarez gets his second goal, rounding the goalkeeper and slotting home from a tight angle. It really is brilliant.

Diego Simeone's 10 men are ahead.

    Liverpool 2-1 Lille

    Stephen Warnock
Former Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think Slot will be delighted because of the changes that he made for this game, particularly to the back line.

It has been a job well done.

  11. DISALLOWED GOAL - Liverpoolpublished at 21:49 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

    Liverpool 2-1 Lille

Darwin Nunez wheels away in celebration but the offside flag is up! It's lovely stuff from Liverpool to find Federico Chiesa, he cuts in at speed and forces Lucas Chevalier into a fine save before Nunez taps home.

Now I'm not a fan of UEFA or FIFA for that matter but it does appear this new Champions League, Super League dare I call it, has made the competition far more competitive and exciting.

  13. Postpublished at 21:47 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

Trent Alexander-Arnold whips in the free-kick but it's well cleared and Lille now look to build forward.

  14. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:46 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

    Liverpool 2-1 Lille

Benjamin Andre is next in the book for a late one on Wataru Endo. Looks like a sore one on his knee but he's up and OK.

Uh oh, both sides are down to 10 men. Piero Hincapie is shown a second yellow card for fouling Giuliano Simeone.

  18. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:44 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

    Liverpool 2-1 Lille

Conor Bradley's night is over as he is replaced by Trent Alexander-Arnold. Not a bad sub to bring on!

  19. Postpublished at 21:44 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

    Liverpool 2-1 Lille

Lille are still threatening to get something from this game. Harvey Elliott tries to let the ball run out for a goal kick but there's not enough pace on it. Hakon Haraldsson then has a swipe at goal but Jarell Quansah is there to clear.

  20. Postpublished at 21:42 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

    Liverpool 2-1 Lille

Darwin Nunez with a slightly overzealous tackle on the right you could say.
