Albion have to be careful when this Derby side break, especially (Nathaniel) Mendez-Laing, he is a creative character.

The ball breaks for Kayden Jackson on the left of the Albion box but he can't quite wrap his foot around it to send it back into the middle and his skewed effort flies the wrong side of the near post from a Rams perspective.

Derby forward Jerry Yates hits the deck again, this time winning a free-kick after pressure from behind from Mason Holgate. He's been an absolute nuisance for the visitors' backline, and that's without considering he's the one who broke the deadlock too.

Johnston is a real threat when he cuts in from the left hand side.

Jerry Yates gets bundled over under a high ball in the area and howls for a penalty but then the flag goes up for offside anyway... Jarred Gillet wasn't much impressed anyway, in fairness.

Albion's Mikey Johnston has come out for this second half with his dribbling boots on, that's twice he's gone on mazy runs, ghosting between markers, only to have the ball pinched at the vital moment.

He has got to hit the target there.

His second touch is excellent, he has to make the goalkeeper work there though, he will be disappointed.

Out of nothing Kenzo Goudwijn pounces on a loose ball in the Baggies half and strides forward before bending a dipping effort a yard past Alex Palmer's left hand post.

Derby defender Callum Elder has surely prevented a goal with a last-ditch lunge to block Tom Fellows' effort at the far post after the ball had squirted across to him.

Jayson Molumby's first action is to win a free-kick just outside the County area.

The big guns come up from the back for John Swift's free-kick but Nat Phillips redeems himself for conceding it by heading clear at the far post.

Portsmouth

Portsmouth boss John Mousinho spoke to BBC Radio Solent after his side lost in the 95th minute.

“I’m devastated that we lost the game, a game that we didn’t deserve to lose," he said.

"Yeah, a load of emotions going through my head at the moment, and the dressing room is obviously very low because I thought we deserved to at least take a point out of the game.”

Watford

Watford boss Tom Cleverley, speaking to BBC Three Counties Radio, praised his side's patience following their late comeback win over Portsmouth.

“We’ve got a special thing going on here, that’s 17 unbeaten here now," he said.

"I was pleased that we didn’t get desperate and keep lumping it forward.

"I didn’t think it would be as late as it was, but I was positive that we’d get the chances we needed to win the game.”

On Kwadwo Baah’s red card: “We have to admit, he deserves that one.

"We want to win with humility and dignity, people will try to goad you, and that's what he was reacting to - you can’t react to that as a top professional footballer. Unfortunately we’ll miss him for Sunday.”

Plymouth Argyle

Bottom side Plymouth were booed off the pitch after their 4-0 defeat at Coventry, and Pilgrims boss Wayne Rooney spoke to BBC Radio Devon about that reaction.

He also gave an injury update and spoke of the "wild" tackle that saw Callum Wright sent off.

"The fans have every right to feel disappointed. The game was really done at half-time," Rooney said.

"I was very disappointed with the goals we conceded, especially so early on. The lads just didn't switch on quick enough.

"Moustapha Bundu has felt his hamstring, so we'll assess that over the next few days. Not ideal, but we have to dig in.

"It's a silly tackle by Callum Wright. He's had a bit of a wild tackle just before that and he's got frustrated. I've been there myself. But he's cost himself by missing the next few games."

Coventry

Coventry City boss Frank Lampard was unsurprisingly delighted by the Sky Blues' big win against Plymouth when he was talking to BBC CWR.

"Taking your chances is the key to football. We found that out at Portsmouth last week," he said.

"Goals can affect the flow of a game - and this time they gave us a really good early feeling.

"We moved the ball well and quickly too. That really pleased me, as did the mentality of the players. You don't want to get sloppy and we were very professional second half.

"You can never take anything for granted in this league - but the crowd turned up in their numbers - and we put in a performance to send everyone home happy."

Burnley

Burnley manager Scott Parker told BBC Radio Lancashire of the pride in his team following their win at leaders Sheffield United.

“It was a brilliant away performance all round. We’ve got a very young squad and as individuals and as a team, we are learning things.

"I’m immensely proud of the team for how they came through today’s game. They quietened the stadium early; they had a control which we were very comfortable to give them.

"We score a brilliant goal in the first half and in the second half we had our moments. Overall, it was a really solid performance.

“Zian Flemming did very well today, he has been exceptional in the last two games.

"We’re a passing and progressive team, looking to play in a certain way, but in certain moments, you need to go top line a bit earlier. He gave us that platform.”

West Brom had some really good chances, Darnell Furlong hit the post from distance, John Swift also hit the post from a free-kick.

As well as the goal, Derby also had another good chance through Jerry Yates.

Derby have looked the better side but West Brom have had great ball retention.

Jerry Yates' clinical angled finish is the difference at the break for Derby County.

West Brom have had their moments and hit the woodwork through Darnell Furlong and John Swift, but Yates himself was also denied by a sprawling save from Alex Palmer early-on.

Good game, this. Very watchable. Good old Boxing Day.
