Alexander Isak has rightfully stolen the headlines for Newcastle over the past few weeks, but a word for Anthony Gordon.

He has been involved in a goal in each of his last four games in the Premier League (one goal, three assists).

Newcastle's first goal = cross from the left, close-range header from unmarked forward.

Newcastle's second goal = cross from the left, close-range header from unmarked midfielder.

Manchester United are terrible at defending crosses, so the opposition are putting crosses in.

Ruben Amorim keeps saying it will get better and he knows what he is doing.

    There is competing evidence.

Slots it expertly on his birthday! It's seven goals in eight games for Ollie Watkins against Brighton as he sends Bart Verbruggen the wrong way.

  10. Postpublished at 20:21 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2024

    Ipswich 1-0 Chelsea

Leif Davis tries to clear the ball from his own penalty box but it's just so daft and falls straight to the feet of Moises Caicedo. Luckily for Davis the effort is wide.

  11. 'Carbon copy of the first goal'published at 20:21 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2024

    Man Utd 0-1 Newcastle

    Gary Neville
Former Manchester United defender on Sky Sports

A carbon copy of the first goal. A little bit of play in midfield, Casemiro and Eriksen are like mannequins, they shouldn't be playing together in the Premier League.

This time the cross comes from Anthony Gordon and it is a beautiful delivery, and Joelinton heads it in. Harry Maguire had Alexander Isak marked this time but no one spotted the run from Joelinton.

  12. PENALTY - ASTON VILLApublished at 20:20 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2024

    Aston Villa 0-1 Brighton

Joao Pedro tries to clear the ball but instead, he kicks the boot of Morgan Rogers. Craig Pawson has a long old look at it on the monitor and points to the spot.

    Joelinton

    Newcastle have a second!

It's another Anthony Gordon assist. He wrong foots Noussair Mazraoui once again by cutting in and pinging in a ball.

Joelinton gets above Lisandro Martinez and nods down into the bottom left corner.

    It should be two.

Christian Eriksen, takes far too long lining up a shot and Bruno Guimaraes steals it before sending a ball over the top to send Alexander Isak through on goal.

The Swedish striker tries to chip it over Andre Onana, but the ball bounces up nicely for the Manchester United goalkeeper to catch calmly.

  16. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:18 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2024

    Aston Villa 0-1 Brighton

What a save! Lucas Digne hits one first time from the edge of the box and Bart Verbruggen gets down brilliantly to tip it wide.

However, we do have another penalty check for Aston Villa.

  17. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:18 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2024

Ipswich have survived a long VAR check to keep their lead in tact.

But Enzo Maresca is not happy with his team's performance and looks unusually animated on the touchline.

The Italian manager has also been in the fourth official's ear about some physical Ipswich tackles.

Although Chelsea have shown some quality on the ball, they have been outbattled and dominated physically here.

The amount of time it takes to come to a decision for these offside calls is ridiculous. Felix looks clearly off. Bring in the semi-automated system ASAP, shouldn’t we have it already though??

    Ipswich 1-0 Chelsea

It looks like a matter of time for Chelsea at the moment.

Noni Madueke holds the ball up well and waits for Joao Felix to join him on the edge of the area. He lays it off but Felix's shot is blocked. It drops for Marc Cucurella who goes for a first-time shot but it's well wide.
