  6. Tottenham not looking to sign another goalkeeperpublished at 14:38 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2024

Tottenham v Roma (Thu, 20:00 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on whether the club will sign a free agent goalkeeper following news that Guglielmo Vicario would miss "months" after undergoing ankle surgery: "No, that is not going to happen. That's why we've got a squad of players. I don't think us signing a free agent now is going to help us. If I hadn't named Fraser [Forster] in the European squad, that would've been a radical decision.

"When you're left with two and they couldn't play in Europe, then you would kind of look at it but unless something else happened, that's why we've got four goalkeepers.

"Young Luca [Gunter], who to be fair has been injured and is not ready, but Fraser I've known for a long time and he's such a strong character within the group and he's ready to play. Brandon [Austin] is improving all the time. Alfie [Whiteman] has also sort of been at the club for a while and whatever has been asked, the training capacity that they bring, we are more than capable with what we've got."

  7. Werner and Udogie updatespublished at 14:33 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2024

Tottenham v Roma (Thu, 20:00 GMT)

Ange Postecoglou said that both Timo Werner and Destiny Udogie are "OK, no issues" after picking up knocks during Tottenham's 4-0 win at Manchester City on Saturday.

  8. 'Davies has been trusted by whoever has managed him'published at 14:29 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2024

Tottenham v Roma (Thu, 20:00 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on Ben Davies and whether he gets the credit he deserves: "It's hard to say with perceptions because it depends on what your kind of barometer is. There's so many these days that depending on which rabbit hole you go into, you can get any sort of outcome you want. I would doubt that anyone who has any sort of real passion for this football club or football would say he wouldn't be highly respected in or outside of this football club.

"He's the captain of his country. It's a testament to his ability, the fact a number of coaches through this football club have all entrusted him at different times, whether that is Jose [Mourinho], Mauricio [Pochettino] or whoever he's been managed by, that just goes to show.

"I don't have any doubts that Ben is well respected within the game and he is still performing at a very good level. He's captained his nation and with us this year, he's really grown into that sort of defensive role of playing centre-back and at the weekend, him and Radu were outstanding against a top team."

  9. 'I love the country, love the food, love the football'published at 14:24 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2024

Tottenham v Roma (Thu, 20:00 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou on whether he has ever come close to managing in Italy: "I haven't been close. There's always been a connection. Coming from Australia, especially Melbourne, there's a really strong Italian community who are very passionate about their football.

"There's always an interest in Italian football, it has gone through various stages from the great AC Milan days and so forth. Many of the best foreigners in the world were playing in Italy. I never had a team in Italy but I always loved [former Italy and AC Milan head coach [Arrigo] Sacchi. He was one of the geniuses of Italian football.

"I always had an interest in it and it's always been at different levels, but you always know when you play teams from Italy, because they are so passionate about football, it is always shown in their teams. I've never been close to going there but I love the country, love the food and love the football."

  10. Ranieri managing at 73 'unbelievable' - Postecogloupublished at 14:18 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2024

Tottenham v Roma (Thu, 20:00 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on facing Claudio Ranieri, who is 73: "It's unbelievable. It just goes to show the passion he has for the game because I'm sure there's more enjoyable, simpler ways to enjoy his life now, but he still has that in him.

"I haven't come across him before, but I'm looking forward to saying hello because it's always nice to actually meet some of these people who have made such a massive impact in football, particularly in my field, management.

"He's always come across as a gentlemen. I'm looking forward to meeting him and it just goes to show that kind of bug for being a manager on the touchline doesn't leave you."

  11. 'We have quality players that can score so many goals'published at 14:12 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2024

    Man Utd v Bodo/Glimt (Thu, 20:00 GMT)

    Manchester United

The final thoughts of Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim on the team's lack of goals: "Of course there is a concern in that but I think we have to improve as a team. We have quality players that can score so many goals. You can feel in the second half [against Ipswich] we control possession of the ball but were not dangerous.

"We will try to improve as a team, Rasmus [Hojlund] and Rash [Marcus Rashford] and even Bruno [Fernandes] to score more goals. All these guys need to improve. We can score so many goals."

On how to get Marcus Rashford back scoring regularly: "I will try to tell him that position is not the best one for him, especially in a game like that. He was fighting with two giants [in the Ipswich defence] and we will try to find the right solution for him.

"He has to be Marcus first of all and then you will have the help of all the staff and fans because he is a Manchester United boy."

  12. 'The power is to change formation in each game'published at 14:10 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2024

    Man Utd v Bodo/Glimt (Thu, 20:00 GMT)

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim on whether he would consider changing from his favoured 3-4-3 formation: "We will do it, we have to do it and when I talk about our structure I believe we can play in different systems. We defend more in this game [against Ipswich] sometimes in 4-4-2 because Amad [Diallo] was with the left-back. Nowadays, every team changes the dynamics so we will adapt that. I think our structure, the power of it is to change the formation in each game."

  13. Man Utd players 'will suffer a little bit' as they get used to Amorim methodspublished at 14:04 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2024

    Man Utd v Bodo/Glimt (Thu, 20:00 GMT)

    Manchester United

Ruben Amorim on how long, in relation to his experiences at Sporting, will it take for his methods to start having an impact on results and performances at Manchester United: "It is hard to compare things. We are in a different level, this is a different league, so it is harder than in Portugal, but I also have more experienced players, they all play for national teams. They just need an increase to their confidence.

"At the moment I don’t know how to answer that question. I don't know how long, but I know that with a lot of games without time to train it will be tough, for me, but it will be tougher for them because they are on the pitch and will suffer a little bit. I will try to help them."

  14. 'We have had flat spots, but we have played outstanding football'published at 14:01 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2024

Tottenham v Roma (Thurs, 20:00 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

    Ange PostecoglouImage source, Getty Images

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on what kind of performance should people expect from his team against Roma: "You'll see the same Spurs you see every game. It's about going out there and trying to play our football and try and be the best we can be.

"Sometimes, that doesn't work out and hasn't worked out for us in a couple of games this year. We know that and it's something we need to kind of improve.

"At the same time, it's been more good than bad. If you are looking for likely outcomes, I'd say good but we have had the flat spots that we are working through. I don't discount the football we have played either. We've played some outstanding football. For me, it is about progress.

"I keep saying that we're a better side than we were last year and we want to keep improving and if we keep improving, the areas where there are gaps, we will slowly overcome."

  15. 'Forster is ready to go'published at 13:57 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2024

Tottenham v Roma (Thu, 20:00 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on Fraser Forster and whether he is ready to fill Guglielmo Vicario's spot: "That's why he's here. Fraser played Carabao Cup, he's played a couple of European games and that's the reason we played him, it's the reason we have him in the squad. He's ready to go."

  16. Vicario's injury 'months not weeks'published at 13:56 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2024

Tottenham v Roma (Thu, 20:00 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario's injury and how long he will be absent: "It's not going to be weeks, it's going to be months. He's had surgery and with surgery, there are certain timelines and because it is Vic.

"I don't like giving timelines so early in the process on something like that because it puts undue pressures on the player and also, maybe some expectations. I think once we get the past the rehab stage, we will have a clearer idea."

  17. 'They have some special players'published at 13:54 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2024

    Man Utd v Bodo/Glimt (Thu, 20:00 GMT)

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim on opponents Bodo/Glimt: "I am expecting a very good team. They can win the [Norwegian] league this week. They run a lot and that is a very good thing for us, we need to improve that. They have some special players on the wing and they can play in the pockets very well. They have that aura of winning games. I am expecting a very intense game and I am expecting some different things."

On whether Bodo/Glimt may rest players: "I don’t know, I am not thinking about that. I am just focusing on winning a game at Old Trafford. We need that momentum. I am just focused on our team. I know the players and the way they play, they will not change if one player is out."

  18. 'A performance for the record books'published at 13:46 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2024

Tottenham v Roma (Thu, 20:00 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on Guglielmo Vicario's character and performance in the 4-0 win at Manchester City: "I think externally, you know realise what we knew internally about him. It's a reason I've gone and made him part of the leadership group this year, you just see the way he goes about his business on a daily basis.

"He's got a really strong mentality. I give the guys days off, I guarantee that he would be here doing something, he's just that kind of person.

"An unbelievable performance. Irrespective of the injury, it was a really strong performance for him but taking that into context, it's certainly one for the record books for this club in outstanding performances I think."

  19. 'Vicario is as tough as they come'published at 13:44 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2024

Tottenham v Roma (Thu, 20:00 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on Guglielmo Vicario's broken ankle: "We knew he was sore, but you kind of go 'he's played 60 minutes with a sore ankle, we'll tape it up and go again'.

"Externally, people now realise and it is a testament to him. He's as tough as nails, as tough as they come. The fact he played at that level for 60 odd minutes with a fractured ankle was quite outstanding.

"Once the shock of it wears off, the process is he's going to be missing for a while. Knowing him, he will push the limits to how long that is and also knowing him, we'll get daily updates about it on his Instagram. It's a big blow, for him personally as he was having an outstanding season for us and really growing as a leader in the group, but we've dealt with setbacks before and we will deal with this one."

  20. 'It was nothing' - Amorim on Sheeran interruptionpublished at 13:42 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2024

    Manchester United

More from Ruben Amorim on being interrupted by Ed Sheeran in his post-match interview on the pitch following Sunday's draw at Ipswich and the singer's subsequent apology: "Sometimes you overcomplicate things. It was nothing, a simple thing to say hello to one of the commentators. And I was with Roy Keane, who is a real star, so was nothing."
