  1. PSG face tough task to qualifypublished at 13:01 Greenwich Mean Time

    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG

Could Paris St-Germain fail to qualify for the knockout rounds of the Champions League?

Well they are in 26th place, one point outside the play-offs, so will be eliminated if things stay the same.

    Their final three games are:

    • 10 Dec: Red Bull Salzburg (a)
    • 22 Jan: Manchester City (h)
    • 29 Jan: Stuttgart (a)

BBC Sport's chief football news reporter

Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt fly into Manchester later today ahead of tomorrow's Europa League match with United at Old Trafford.

Bodo/Glimt are establishing themselves as Norway's top team but that has not always been the case.

Sporting director Håvard Sakariassen used to be a player at the club and he remembered a period where the squad had to wash their own kit.

"If you go back to the year in 2009-2011, the club was struggling really hard financially," he said.

"I had my last season in 2011 as a player. In mid-season that year I quit. I was old and not any good. I left the changing room and went upstairs.

"At that time the club was in such bad conditions that we didn’t have a kit manager. We washed our training gear at home and came to training already dressed. That was the situation at Bodo/Glimt in 2011.

"We had one person working for the A team that autumn. That was me. I was the kit man."

I doubt Manchester United's players have ever washed their own kit in their entire history.

BBC Sport reporter on Football Daily podcast

That makes it just four points from five games for Paris St-Germain. They are 26th in the table and are in massive danger of not even getting into the play-offs.

Boss Luis Enrique made a big call. He dropped [Gianluigi] Donnarumma and brought in another goalkeeper [Matvei] Safonov and he made a really bad error for the only goal. Then they had Ousmane Dembele sent off in the second half.

Paris St-Germain were not actually that bad in this game, but they are in big trouble. Luis Enrique has won just six of his 17 Champions League games [with PSG]. Questions will be asked of his management at the moment.

Plenty of cameras here to capture the thoughts of Ruben Amorim and Bruno Fernandes when they speak to the media shortly ahead of Manchester United's Europa League encounter with Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt.

It will be Amorim's first game at Old Trafford as United boss.

He conducted his first interview as United manager there for MUTV.

He has already moaned about the number of media engagements he has had.

I doubt the interest in United will reduce so he might be advised to get used to it.

All eyes were on Sporting's Sweden striker Viktor Gyokeres before Arsenal's visit in the Champions League following a remarkable scoring run of 24 goals in 17 club games this season that had seen him linked with some of the top sides in the Premier League.

Leon Osman told BBC Sounds' Football Daily podcast that the 26-year-old former Coventry forward was marked out of the game by Arsenal centre-backs William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes.

"When you are trying to judge him [Gyokeres], you are judging him up against an outstanding partnership who are physically impressive," said Osman, about Saliba and Gabriel. "Both have got great pace, both have got great anticipation. He was coming up against some of the best.

"When he was up against [Jakub] Kiwior for a short spell he actually looked a bit more dangerous. He looked like he could run the channels and get away from him.

"I do think there is a player in there. I do think there is quality. I think he relies on his strength in the Portuguese league to wrestle people out of the way, but he just couldn't do that against the two Arsenal centre-halves because they won every single duel they were involved in. Gyokeres couldn't quite get into the game."

Since Arsenal returned to the Champions League in 2023 they had only had one win in seven away games. They came into this game without scoring in four successive matches on their travels. They made a mockery of those statistics.

  7. 'It could have been more' - Osman on Arsenal's five goalspublished at 12:41 Greenwich Mean Time

    Sporting 1-5 Arsenal

    Leon Osman

[Arsenal's players] looked like they were really up for the challenge. They looked positive. We have seen Arsenal play away in some big games when they have sat back and looked good defensively, allowing the game to develop before bursting into life, but against Sporting they just went for it right from the first whistle. I am not talking gung-ho, there was a really controlled nature about the way they went and did it.

There was a real belief that they knew how they were set up. Tactically they were excellent. Their system won out against Sporting's 3-4-3.

Thankfully for Arsenal, they were able to apply the finishing touch to most of their moves. It was 3-0 at half-time, it could have been more. They finished with five goals, it could have been upwards of seven with the amount of good chances they had.

Alan Alger, from the Footballistically Arsenal podcast, told BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast that the return of key players, such as captain Martin Odegaard, was an important factor behind Tuesday's impressive win at Sporting:

"Going into the international break, the stuttering performances, [Arsenal] weren’t quite connecting...it makes a huge difference to have your first choice 11 available.

"We’ve got some easier fixtures coming up. I don’t think we’re even leaving the south until February. Games where we’re not travelling too far, hopefully the players are rested and this can be the big point of the season.

    "It couldn’t be better timing."

NB: Arsenal's next game outside the south of England is, in fact, at Wolves on 25 January. They also play at Girona in the Champions League on 29 January. Between now and then, their scheduled away fixtures are at Fulham (8 Dec), Crystal Palace (21 Dec), Brentford (1 Jan) and Brighton (4 Jan). They could also face a EFL Cup tie outside the south of England - at Newcastle, Liverpool or Manchester United - if they reach the semi-finals.

  10. Where could Man City turn for reinforcements?published at 12:29 Greenwich Mean Time

So what can Manchester City do to arrest this dip in performances?

BBC Sport's chief football writer Phil McNulty explored in the build-up to Tuesday's draw at home to Feyenoord whether City's "Midas touch" in terms of recruitment was on the wane.

Check out this piece, in which Phil runs the rule over the players brought into City in recent times, as well as some of the up-and-coming stars from their academy they have let go.

He also assesses some of the players available on the transfer market who may help bolster's City's current squad. Here is a selection:

Defence - Ousmane Diomande (Estimated transfer value £7.9m)

The 20-year-old Ivorian at Sporting would add physicality, something City have been lacking recently. He's won more than 70% of his aerial duels in Portugal.

Midfield - Martin Zubimendi (ETV £32.9m)

The most likely midfield reinforcement would probably be Real Sociedad's Zubimendi. Liverpool triggered his £51.5m release clause in the summer only for the 25-year-old to reject the move. He's Rodri's replacement for Spain. Brilliant in possession, tenacious without the ball too and would restore some balance to the City midfield.

Attack - Jonathan David (ETV £28.9m)

The Lille striker could be of interest. Once valued well over £50m, he's out of contract next summer so should be available cheaply in January. The Canada forward has four Champions League goals from his first four games, plus seven goals in Ligue 1. He can play with or without Haaland if Guardiola wanted to change style, and is a genuine goal threat.

Former Everton midfielder on Football Daily

You know now that if you can get a bit of momentum in a game you can actually blow Manchester City away at the moment. They concede one, they look like their doors are opening.

It seems to be a mental thing. The game management does not seem to be there. Manchester City keep making mistakes or leaving an opportunity for the opposition.

So I think there is a chance of beating them at the moment, even if you have been battered for 75 minutes, I still think a team's mental attitude would be "if we can hang in here they will give us a chance".

Manchester City 3-3 Feyenoord: Guardiola answers question about scratches on his face

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says he did not intend "to make light" of self-harm when he answered a question about scratches on his face.

City blew a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 with Feyenoord in the Champions League on Tuesday and Guardiola was later seen with several scratch marks on his forehead during his post-match interview with broadcaster Amazon Prime.

Asked by reporters during his news conference about a mark on his nose, Guardiola made a scratching motion and said: "With my finger, my nail."

The 53-year-old then said "I want to harm myself" before laughing and leaving the news conference.

"I was caught off guard with a question at the end of a press conference last night about a scratch which had appeared on my face and explained that a sharp fingernail had accidentally caused this," said a statement posted on Guardiola's behalf by his official account on X and Instagram.

"My answer was in no way intended to make light of the very serious issue of self-harm."

What I don't like about all this as a Liverpool fan, is the fact that now we are fully expected to roll over City. It doesn't work like that. It's a dangerous state of mind to be in going into a game as big as this. That being said, Slot has shown he is grounded, and not getting carried away. I'm sure he'll relay the same to the players.

For the first time in what was the 942nd game of his managerial career, Pep Guardiola has seen his side fail to win a match after leading by three goals.

Kevin Parker, the general secretary of Manchester City Supporters Club, told BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast that the players looked to have lost their confidence and while he backed manager Pep Guardiola to help restore added that Sunday's Premier League game at Liverpool now looks to be "very difficult":

"This is a great football team, we’ve won four Premier League titles on the run...it’s unbelievable that a team of this experience just from nowhere seems to have completely lost its confidence.

"Last night was worse than any of the five defeats [that went before it] in that we were totally in control then we’ve gone from 3-0 to 3-3 in the space of 15 minutes.

"If there’s any coach in world football that could sort this for us, it’s Pep Guardiola, but the problem is we have Liverpool on Sunday and that’s going to be a very difficult game."

I have a theory that the nicer your kit, the higher your confidence is, and the better you play. Therefore, the main reason Man City collapsed last night was because of that awful font on their kit. Honestly, Times New Roman or Comic Sans would have been better.
