Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou, speaking to the press on the challenges his team face: "I think I have been consistent in saying we have got a challenge at the moment - a short term challenge.

"A significant rebuild, and the challenges will always be there and it is how you approach them. Inevitably there will be another one down the road.

"From my perspective, I need to be clear-headed about what we want to do and what we want to achieve.

"It is fair to say everyone is trying hard, it's not because of a lack of trying – we need to stay calm and clear-headed."

  2. Chelsea sacking would not be a problem - Pochettinopublished at 13:28 British Summer Time 10 May

    BBC football news reporter

Mauricio Pochettino says it would "not be the end of the world" if he were to leave Chelsea at the end of the season.

The Blues boss called for an end to the "stupid rumours" following his side's victory against Tottenham last week.

But the Argentine says he and his coaching staff must be on the same page as the owners if he's to continue at the club.

Pochettino said the "organisation of the club is building" and that "we are all under assessment".

Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly said on Thursday that his plans for the club are "coming together" but Pochettino has made clear that conversations with the club's board at the end of the season should include his input.

“If we are happy, perfect," said 52-year-old Pochettino.

Tottenham v Burnley (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is talking in his news conference now.

He says recent defeats are "part of the process of growth" and hopes his side will "come out of it stronger".

Spurs are on the back of a four-match losing streak and face relegation-threatened Burnley at home on Saturday.

    More to follow.

For this weekend's matches, Chris Sutton takes on Kasabian frontman and Leicester City fan Serge Pizzorno.

From Burnley's perspective, the fact Nottingham Forest's points deduction was upheld means they are not down yet, but if they don't win here then they will be relegated.

It felt like the end for them after the Newcastle game last weekend and while they have not quite been given a reprieve, I suppose the good news is that they are still not out of it. They might even think this is a good time to play a Tottenham team who have lost four in a row.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou will be concerned about his side's loss of form but this is the ideal fixture for them to bounce back. I'd still say Spurs have a had a good season even if fourth place appears beyond them now, and they will have a point to prove here.

    Sutton's prediction: 3-1

    Serge's prediction: 2-0

What is the point of the Key Match Incident Panel? It just appears to be creating some confusion and indecision, days and weeks after the events. Split 3-2 votes on incidents - what is the value? Where is the output to produce the chance of better first-time decisions, moving forward. Feels like another Premier League and PGMOL media stunt.

Erik ten Hag is due to face the media shortly to look ahead to Manchester United's home game with Arsenal on Sunday.

After United's performance in the 4-0 hammering at Crystal Palace on Monday night, not many supporters are looking forward to the meeting with any confidence.

Victory for United would open the door to another Premier League title for Manchester City, so I am not entirely sure who the fans want to win.

Ten Hag could do without having to explain away another hammering.

Arsenal are also reportedly interested , externalin signing Sweden international Isak.

  10. Bournemouth's disallowed goal not a 'clear and obvious error'published at 13:00 British Summer Time 10 May

Antoine Semenyo of Bournemouth goal is ruled out after VAR rules Dominic Solanke of Bournemouth had fouled David Raya of ArsenalImage source, Getty Images

Other incidents reviewed included the decision to disallow Antoine Semenyo's goal for Bournemouth in their 3-0 defeat at Arsenal for a push by striker Dominic Solanke on goalkeeper David Raya in the build-up.

The panel was split 3-2 in support of referee David Coote's decision, saying: "The attacker leans into the goalkeeper, briefly hooks round his arm and impacts the goalkeeper."

The two panellists who disagreed argued "the degree of contact does not impact the goalkeeper's ability to continue with his action and clear the ball".

The panel voted 5-0 that VAR was correct not to intervene as it was not a "clear and obvious error".

The panel was also split 3-2 in support of the decision to award a penalty to Arsenal for a foul by goalkeeper Mark Travers on Kai Havertz earlier in the same game.

Those in support said Travers came out "feet first, doesn't win the ball and fouls the attacker", with those disagreeing arguing "Havertz leaves his leg in the challenge to initiate contact and has time to jump to evade the challenge".

They also voted 5-0 that VAR should have intervened.

  11. Man City penalty should not have been givenpublished at 12:57 British Summer Time 10 May

Manchester City's first penalty in their 5-1 win over Wolves should not have been a awarded, the panel has said.

Wolves defender Rayan Ait-Nouri was penalised after colliding with City defender Josko Gvardiol in the area.

The five-person Key Match Incident Panel voted by a 3-2 majority that referee Craig Pawson should not have given a spot-kick.

However, it unanimously agreed the Video Assistant Referee was correct not to intervene.

Erling Haaland converted the penalty and went on to score four goals, including a second spot-kick, in the win at Etihad Stadium.

When reviewing the Ait-Nouri-Gvardiol incident, the majority of the panel deemed the on-field decision incorrect because it was a "coming together due to the normal actions of both players and the challenge is not reckless".

Two panellists disagreed and thought it was a foul by Ait-Nouri, though all five agreed there were "not sufficient grounds" for intervention by VAR.

I was at the game against Hearts and Celtic were excellent.

The atmosphere from the off was brilliant, the fans were behind them and they will be behind them come Saturday.

The lads coming back is a boost for Celtic. They have hit form at the right part of the season - that is why I think they will get the win.

Celtic are strong at this moment, but while the Old Firm can pitch up any result, I think Celtic will get the result.

  15. 'Decisions should not be subjected to microscopic forensic examination'published at 12:47 British Summer Time 10 May

Everton's decision to withdraw its appeal against their second points deduction of the campaign follows the result of an appeal board on Tuesday which upheld a four-point deduction for Nottingham Forest.

The three-person appeal board assessing Forest's appeal arrived at a "unanimous" decision to uphold the original ruling by an independent commission, describing it as "commendably clear and comprehensive".

"Some of the criticisms of the [original] decision have involved a minute examination of the words used by the commission," the board said of Forest's appeal.

"Decisions such as these should not be subjected to microscopic forensic examination and interpreted as if they were statutes which have been drafted by parliamentary counsel.

"Allegations of infelicities of language or errors which are not material to the ultimate decision add to the complexity and costs of proceedings and are rarely likely to lead to a successful challenge of a decision."

Everton have withdrawn their appeal, external against a second points deduction, which they received during April 2024.

The Merseyside club initially received a 10-point deduction - reduced to six on appeal - in February.

Everton then received a further two-point deduction for a second breach of Premier League financial rules, which prompted the Toffees to lodge a secondary appeal.

At the time of the appeal, Everton were 16th in the table, two points above the relegation zone.

They have since secured their Premier League safety and are now 15th, 11 points above the relegation zone.

The Old Firm derby is the madness of Glasgow, everybody goes into a frenzy over it.

I think this is a bit more significant and if Celtic win it they are just about there.

I think there is a lot of mind games, Celtic are entitled to do it as they are in the driving seat.

It is up to Rangers to catch them and Rangers had it a few weeks ago, but blew it in the Ross County game [3-2 to Ross County].

Celtic are entitled to do what they want and Brendon Rodgers is entitled to say what he wants - there will be a little bit of winding up.

  19. Title deciding Old Firm derbypublished at 12:24 British Summer Time 10 May

Celtic v Rangers (Sat, 12:30 BST)

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has warned Rangers they will face "the best version of the team since I’ve been here" in this weekend's Old Firm derby.

Rodgers' side will host Rangers on Saturday at lunchtime with a three-point advantage and a superior goal difference in the Scottish Premiership table.

A victory for the home team would give them a six-point lead with two games to play - and a goal difference at least seven better than Philippe Clement's side.

While Rangers stuttered with a draw and a defeat following the 3-3 Old Firm draw in early April, Celtic have won their past three games to resume their grip on the title race.

Celtic v Rangers (Sat, 12:30 BST)

The Old Firm derby returns this Saturday at Celtic Park and it's all on the line for the Scottish Premiership title.

A win for Celtic will give them a six-point lead at the top of the table and a win for Rangers will level the points with only goal difference separating both sides.

Celtic are targeting their third consecutive league title, while Rangers have not won the Premiership since the 2020-21 campaign, when Steven Gerrard was manager.
