Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo told BBC Sport: "I’m very happy with the way we did things, the way we played against Arsenal.

"It's very difficult to play against them. They’re a very good team. It requires a lot of effort. We were solid and compact. Very positive game.

"After this period we had conceding it was important to go back to basics - solid, clean sheet. We had a couple of moments to do it better. But in terms of the game, positive because it was very important to go back to the team we are that allows us to be successful.

"They have danger all over the place. Set-pieces are some of them. It requires focus. The boys did well. We prepared it.

"This is one of the main messages, more than anything, the feeling of being a team that don’t concede too many chances, always in the right places, organised, balanced. Going forward we have talent.

"Our fans have been amazing for us. Today again. No legs but they give us the extra run to the players. Can't thank them enough. We have to enjoy the journey and realise it's not always possible to go with a victory. They saw a good team a team who competed very well."

  3. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:59 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February

    Liverpool 2-0 Newcastle

Liverpool are going to take the opportunity to rest some more players for the final 10 minutes or so.

Off go Alexis Mac Allister and Luis Diaz.

On come Curtis Jones and Darwin Nunez.

A change for Newcastle too as Bruno Guimaraes makes way for Sean Longstaff.

  4. 'Danger that they might slip out of the top four'published at 21:56 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February

    FT: Nottingham Forest 0-0 Arsenal

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal and England defender on TNT Sports

Just because you can't be champions doesn't mean that you throw it all away. If they don't score goals there is a danger that they might slip out of the top four.

Tonight when you come away with a point you think that is important because it means Forest don't get any closer to catching them.

Rest, recover and then they are away to Manchester United, and they must win.

Alexis Mac Allister is on the grass here after receiving a boot to the thigh from Bruno Guimaraes.

The Brazilian was clearing the ball and caught Mac Allister on the follow through.

  6. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:52 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February

    Liverpool 2-0 Newcastle

Jacob Murphy is booked for a challenge on Mohamed Salah.

  7. 'Tonight is the result that finished it'published at 21:51 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February

    FT: Nottingham Forest 0-0 Arsenal

    Martin O'Neill
Former Celtic manager on TNT Sports

I cannot see Arsenal catching Liverpool, not at all. First of all Arsenal have to win their games, and that is not a given by any stretch of the imagination.

Also then you are talking about Liverpool dropping points, which they will do because they are involved in a few other competitions.

I think tonight is the result that finished it.

  8. 'We lacked that spark'published at 21:50 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta told BBC Sport: "[We showed] unquestionable character, how much wanted it and tried.

"We dominated the game. We tried in many different ways. We insisted but lacked that spark, that final pass to unlock a well organised team. We have to generate more shots on target.

"Very different standard [to the West Ham defeat]. We defended with energy, purpose, fight, willingness to make things happen. It wasn’t because we lacked that. We tried until the end but weren’t able to do it."

On their lack of strikers: "Same as before. It’s what we have. We look forward to working with what we have."

On the title: "It was same a week ago, two weeks ago, three months ago. The only thing we can do is win our matches and see how many points we get."

On the result: "It doesn’t feel good. We’re here to win."

  9. Postpublished at 21:50 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February

Brilliant pinpoint pass by Luis Diaz to find Cody Gakpo in the penalty box but the Dutch forward can't sort his feet out and Newcastle are able to clear.

  10. 'Diaz is unlucky'published at 21:49 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February

    Liverpool 2-0 Newcastle

    Mo Salah is laughing, again.

Salah is inviting Luis Diaz to get in at the back post. Diaz is unlucky.

  11. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:49 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February

    Liverpool 2-0 Newcastle

    Double change for Liverpool.

Off go Ryan Gravenberch and Trent Alexander-Arnold. On come Wataru Endo and Jarell Quansah.

Arne Slot has one eye on PSG next week.

Mohamed Salah is enjoying this. He's got his creative boots on.

He sprints down the right and spots the run of Luis Diaz on the opposite flank, curling an outside-of-the-boot pass into the Colombian's path but Diaz can't quite sort his feet out and he pokes it wide.

  13. Postpublished at 21:44 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February

    Liverpool 2-0 Newcastle

Ooooh. Mohamed Salah drives down the right and sends a lovely little flicked pass with the outside of his boot into the path of Trent Alexander-Arnold but the full-back can't make the connection.

  14. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:42 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February

    Liverpool 2-0 Newcastle

Eddie Howe is going to make four changes.

Off: Sandro Tonali, Tino Livramento, Joe Willock and Callum Wilson

On: Lewis Miley, Kieran Trippier, William Osula and Harvey Barnes

  15. 'Arsenal could not find the solutions at the top'published at 21:41 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February

    FT: Nottingham Forest 0-0 Arsenal

It didn't happen for Arsenal tonight because they had Leandro Trossard, Mikel Merino and a teenager in Ethan Nwaneri playing as the front three and that has crippled the team.

Throughout the team they looked solid, defended really well and it was a solid contest.

They took the game to Forest with 65% possession but they could not find the solutions at the top of the team, but I think with the options that they have been left to pick from that is no surprise in the end.

  16. Postpublished at 21:40 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February

    Liverpool 2-0 Newcastle

Mohamed Salah drives forward into the area, Lewis Hall can's stop him and he weaves and jinks round a couple more Newcastle defenders before the ball is turned behind for a corner, which comes to nothing.

  17. Postpublished at 21:40 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February

FT: Manchester United 3-2 Ipswich Town

Ipswich Town have picked up fewer points than any other Premier League side in 2025 (two) and are the only side without a win this calendar year (drawn two, lost six).

They’ve dropped 22 points from winning positions this season, the most of any side.

Bolt 22 points on to their total and they would be on 39 and 11th in the table. Their failure to hold on to leads is one of the main reasons why they are going down (probably).

Arteta is 1000% responsible for this collapse. His arrogance is the cause for the lack of transfers and his obsession with having 7 central midfielders on the books with zero goal scoring strikers is pathetic.

A great goal. It comes from some untidy play. Newcastle give it away cheaply.

Bruno Guimaraes comes off Alexis Mac Allister. I don't know why Bruno comes off him, he is tight on Mac Allister, and then he drops off him two yards.

  20. Postpublished at 21:38 Greenwich Mean Time 26 February

    Manchester United 3-2 Ipswich Town

Since his Premier League debut on 1 February 2020, only Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne have more Premier League assists than Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes (48).
