So, after a whirlwind afternoon of Championship action we could all do with getting our breath back... but not for too long, because there's more to come on Sunday!

Portsmouth boss John Mousinho felt his side should have found a way to break down Luton’s 10 men in their lunchtime 0-0 draw at Fratton Park.

Hatters goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski was sent off half an hour into the game, but the home side were unable to find a way through as they recorded their second successive draw since promotion to the Championship.

“We’re disappointed and we thought we could have won the game,” Mousinho admitted. “Luton defended brilliantly. I thought we needed a bit more to unlock them.

“We caused some problems for Luton, one of which resulted in the red card for their keeper. But we struggle against sides that go down to 10 men.

“Luton sat very deep in the second half and let us have the ball but we needed to make better use of it.”

Luton are still searching for their first win since returning to the Championship, after picking up a point in a goalless draw with Portsmouth.

Hatters boss Rob Edwards however said he felt his team showed they had learned something after the opening game defeat by Burnley:

“After Monday it was important the supporters saw a team that was fighting for them.

“With 11 men I thought we were quick and dynamic and should have been one or two up, and even down to 10 men we showed a different side to ourselves.

“I understand there was anger from the supporters after the first game but we showed that we learned and took it on board today.”

Derby County boss Paul Warne was quick to praise goalkeeper Josh Vickers for his crucial hand in the Rams' first Championship win since being promoted back to the second tier.

Vickers' performance in the win came just a day after Derby signed Jacob Widell Zetterstrom from Djurgarden.

"I think we rode our luck at times, I'm not pretending that we didn't, but to win games of football there are a lot of things that come into it," Warne said.

"We win 1-0 at home and our best player is Josh Vickers. Everything he did today was bang on the money and that's why I brought him to the club, he's an amazing goalkeeper."

And when asked about having to decide which goalkeeper to play next week, Warne said: "There's no drama for me.

"I'll speak to the coaches and the goalkeeping coach, I'll watch Jacob train this week. I'm always the same, I'm always fair on my players and the best players play.

"They are both very good goalkeepers, which is why I brought Josh to the club and Jacob to the club - and he can sell calendars. He is one handsome man, we've bought like the Swedish James Bond."

Middlesbrough head coach Michael Carrick had plenty to lament after their defeat at Derby, having created numerous chances on the way to losing their first game of the season.

"Starting the game, we weren't totally at it. There were a couple of bits of sloppy play and then the goal, it's not easy to pull that back," he said.

"I thought we tried, we did some good things at times, created chances and the longer the game goes it becomes frustrating, so obviously disappointed with the result.

"It's no surprise as to how the game panned out, we couldn't do enough today to claw it back, we gave ourselves too much to do.

"We were off it in a couple of moments at the beginning of the game and we've definitely got to get better at that and be a bit more ruthless and smarter at how we start the game, but we'll get there."

We have to start at the Mornflake Stadium in Cheshire where Chesterfield have absolutely dismantled Crewe 5-0. The Spireites scored three goals inside the games opening 12 minutes and from there they never stopped feasting on their opponents.

In another dominant display Walsall whipped Swindon into submission in the second half, scoring three goals to run away 4-0 winners on the road.

Grimsby scored a very late winner to seal a 3-2 win over Cheltenham in-front of home fans.

Newport proved too strong for Doncaster and romped to a relatively straightforward 3-1 win.

And what a game we had between Accrington and Harrogate, who fought until the very end but couldn't be separated, it ended 3-3.

Elsewhere today, there were wins for Colchester, Gillingham, Carlisle and Bromley.

Newly promoted Stockport found their groove in the second half and netted a trio of goals to beat Blackpool3-0 at Bloomfield Road and move top of the table.

Huddersfield make it two wins out of two after a pretty straightforward 2-1 win over Stevenage in a one sided game.

The Wycombe fight back came too late as Birmingham sealed a neat 3-2 victory for their first win of the season.

Reading also for their first three point haul of the new campaign with a 2-0 victory over Wigan.

And what a game we had at Field Mill between Mansfield and Burton, this one could have gone either way. But it was a late penalty deep into stoppage time that gave Mansfield the equaliser, it ended 3-3.

Elsewhere, there were wins for Northampton, Barnsley and Crawley.

Peterborough and Charlton were victorious in the day's early games.

Plenty of goals in this afternoon's Championship games, but West Brom and Leeds drew a blank in their clash at The Hawthorns earlier in the day.

However, the clean sheet was welcomed by Leeds boss Daniel Farke, whose side had conceded three in their opening Championship game against Portsmouth and three more in their midweek League Cup loss to Middlesbrough.

Farke told BBC Radio Leeds: "To get this outcome after such a difficult week, I’m pleased.

“We are happy when we win with offensive fireworks. That wasn’t the case this time but there were many positives.

“After conceding six goals in two games, compliments to my players for their reaction to get a priceless point. I just wanted to show our unity, that we are a proper team.”

It hasn't been a good day for a few of the Championships' goalkeepers...

It was goals galore between Bristol City and Millwall as the Robins clinched the three points in a 4-3 thriller.

Wayne Rooney gets his first league point on the table as Plymouth Argyle boss in a 1-1 draw with Hull City.

Swansea and Watford cruised into their 3-0 victories against Preston North End and Stoke City respectively.

There was a late red card for QPR in their match against Sheffield United but it didn't stop Rangers striker Lyndon Dykes from slotting in an equaliser to make the score 1-1.

Blackburn Rovers also pulled back a point in the last embers of their 2-2 tie against Norwich.

Meanwhile Burnley... well they had a good day! They dominated Cardiff in a 5-0 drubbing after Bluebirds goalkeeper Ethan Horvath conceded a shocker of an own goal just nine minutes into the match.

Earlier in the day, we also saw a goalless meeting between West Bromwich Albion and Leeds, a 1-0 win for Derby County against Middlesbrough and Luton goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski sent off for a reckless challenge in their 0-0 draw with Portsmouth.

Rovers showed goals will still come in a post-Szmodics world.

Whilst Norwich might be ruing losing their comeback lead, coming from 1-0 behind will give hope there is something there to work with in their transition season with a new manager and new owners, which will be pleasing for some followers of both sides.

I can take a lot more positives out of today's performance than out of the first couple I’ve seen this season. The passing, the movement; it is all what the manager has been looking for.

But the amount of times the keeper looks up and passes it to their striker! They need to cut that out.

I think Tim Walter will be delighted with what he's seen. You don’t want a draw, do you? But you’ve got to look at last week, yes they could have got two or three more, but going forward it’s more positive.

There have been some hectic results across the three English Football League divisions.

There was the madness at Ashton Gate, where Bristol City eventually prevailed 4-3 against Millwall, then there was Burnley battering Cardiff by five!

Mansfield Town and Burton shared a six-goal thriller in League One and in League Two, newly promoted Chesterfield were excellent for their 5-0 win against Crewe.

An impressive three goals and three points for Swansea City in their second league game of the campaign.

A first half penalty from captain Matt Grimes was followed by two second half goals from Azeem Abdulai and Zan Vipotnik.

After an opening day defeat for the Swans they pick up their first points of the season, Preston North End taste defeat in both of their opening league matches.

Impressive second-half performance by QPR, who claim their first point of the season with goals from Jimmy Dunne and Lyndon Dykes.

In between those two goals, Rangers went down to 10 men after substitute Jack Colback was red-carded.

Sheffield United will see it as two points dropped after going 2-0 up early in the game through Gustavo Hamer and Kieffer Moore.

It's a five star performance by Burnley as they thrash Cardiff City.

Ethan Horvath's disastrous own goal for Cardiff gifted the Clarets an early lead, and while Cardiff worked the hosts in the first half they were brushed aside after the interval.

The pick of the goals will go to Zeki Amdouni, whose late effort made it 4-0 before a fifth was added in stoppage time.

The points are shared at Carrow Road.

Norwich City thought they had done enough to win the game after Josh Sargent's second half goal contributions but Blackburn's Yuki Ohashi's late diving header sees both sides take a point after this one.

A perfect start to the season for the Hornets, with all three of their goals coming in the second half.

Edo Kayembe struck two of them, sandwiching a Ryan Andrews effort.

What a game - and what a way for Scott Twine to celebrate signing for Bristol City on a permanent basis.

Twine grabs the winner after City had gone 2-0 up early on, then trailed 3-2.
