It's the most humiliating victory I've seen for a long time. Yes, they're [Manchester United] in another final - great. But that's where the positivity ends.

They were outplayed in the second half and they were outplayed in extra time.

There's no way United can come out of that and say it is a good day for them. The only good thing about it was the result. Everything else exposed how soft they are, the lack of leadership and the lack of character.

They took their foot off the gas and took Coventry too lightly - and nearly paid the ultimate price.

They were on the ropes and a toenail VAR decision has spared them. They were 20 seconds from going out.

I know it is the standard to bash Manchester United, to tell Erik ten Hag (after every game) that he should be sacked and to accuse the United players of lacking character. However, United came within a VAR decision themselves of winning in normal time (the handball rule is a complete and utter mess), and showed huge character to hold their nerve in the shootout (as the vultures gathered). Well done Utd.

Manchester United should be ashamed. They should be embarrassed.

Having said that, they can be proud of the result and of the fact they are in another cup final.

They were schooled by a Championship side in that second half and it exposed all the things we have been worried about with them as a team and Erik ten Hag as a manager. He looks like a manager crestfallen, crushed and somebody who knew the writing was on the wall for them.

I don't think Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos are thinking he's the right manager for them.

They have huge problems but they're in the cup final and could end the season with a trophy. That makes no sense to me - but that's football.

The offside rule needs to be changed so that there is a visible gap between the feet of the forward and the defender. Trying to judge a toe. a nose or a knee is not good for the game.

    Russ, Durham

Firstly Man Utd. Clearly, and it's so obvious, the players are no longer buying into Ten Hag's methods if indeed they ever were. Secondly, if Jota was onside for Liverpool's third goal then Coventry's fourth should have stood. The offside law is crazy. It should be a players body and daylight between attacker and defender.

    Alan

Lucky to have been one of the Coventry fans at the game yesterday, the support and atmosphere was amazing. Honestly don't know how fans cope with VAR each week, it's sucking the life out of the game. Frustrating being valiant losers, but proud of all the players and management.

Sunday's semi-final certainly produced the agony and the ecstasy we have all come to associate with the famous competition over the years.

Away from the FA Cup, the Mirror back page also has a rallying cry from Liverpool's fit-again full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, who says the club needs "five big ones" as they look to win a second Premier League title for departing manager Jurgen Klopp.

Has VAR improved football? I don't think so, it is inconsistent. Which is why it is supposed to be in place - to prevent human error and inconsistency. Scrap it now until it works better. All this false celebration to wait five minutes for a goal to be chalked off kills the game.

    Andy, Suffolk

We used to debate refereeing decisions now we debate refereeing decisions AND VAR. Games are interrupted and fans' enjoyment is diminished. Win or lose most fans despise VAR - how do we fans collectively ban it?

This happened on the tube on the way home. We three Cov fans aged 64, 59 and 58 sat opposite three old United fans on the Bakerloo - older even than us. We remember Hutchison, Hateley and Houchen. They Best, Law and Charlton. They were so apologetic and they really meant it. One chap said to me "I can barely look you in the eye. You deserved to win that game and we just feel so dreadful." We were disappointed. Very disappointed. But this morning I'm much prouder of my team than that old Red Devil is. And in retrospect I think I'll remember that game til the end of my days when he would rather forget it.

Can you imagine what would be being said about Manchester United and Erik ten Hag if they had lost to Coventry yesterday after being 3-0 up with 20 minutes to go at Wembley yesterday?

Ten Hag said in the build up to the FA Cup semi-final that he didn't care what is said about him externally.

But there were so many senior United figures in the Royal Box and they must have been sharing the same sense of incredulity many of the club's fans were feeling at what was unfolding.

This follows matches in the Champions League against Copenhagen and Galatasaray where United had established winning positions and failed to execute, and more recently in the Premier League against Brentford, Chelsea and Liverpool.

The pattern has been repeated too often - and Ten Hag knows it.

"We can play on very high levels but go to very low levels in the same game, that’s not explainable," said Ten Hag.

"We need to manage the game, take responsibility and make right decisions.

"I have to teach my players, it's clear. We have to do better on such occasions.

"The most difficult thing is put yourself in a winning position but on several occasions we let each other down.

"Today we got away with it."

Nottingham Forest definitely have a point with three valid penalty claims v Everton. Unfortunately social media is perhaps not the way to voice their point. VAR gives more talking points than bad refereeing.

Mark Clattenburg, the retired referee who is Nottingham Forest's referee analyst, defended the club's response in a column published on the Daily Mail's website on Sunday.

He wrote: "One of these errors would have been bad enough. Three was a joke, and that is why Nottingham Forest were left feeling victimised after another defeat in which zero big decisions went their way.

"In a season where they have had to endure some egregious refereeing, this trip to Everton was as grim a game as they have encountered since returning to the Premier League.

"These situations were precisely why video technology was brought into the Premier League and yet, Attwell did not send Taylor to his monitor. Not once. It was a hat-trick of howlers from the refereeing team and, unfortunately for Forest, a continuation of an unjust trend that has hampered their survival fight.

"You will have seen the statement released by the club - how the PGMOL were contacted to warn that it was not appropriate for a Luton fan such as Attwell to play such a pivotal role in a massive match that would impact the relegation race."

All three Nottingham Forest penalty claims centred on incidents involving Everton's veteran ex-England defender Ashley Young.

Forest felt he caught the back of Gio Reyna's boot in attempting to make a tackle when Sunday's game at Goodison Park was goalless.

Then, late in the first half, after Everton had taken the lead, a Callum Hudson-Odoi cross struck Young on the arm.

The third incident happened after the interval, with the Toffees still 1-0 ahead, as Young tangled with Hudson-Odoi in the area but the officials ruled he had won the ball cleanly.
