On a Championship night with five drawn matches, Leeds and Cardiff were the big, and only winners...

Leeds' 2-1 win over Watford wasn't quite enough for Daniel Farke's men to go top, but they showed plenty of signs once again that they will be one of, if not THE team to beat in the second tier this season.

After their worst start to a season in a century, Cardiff are all of a sudden up to 19th after making it 10 points from their past four games - three of them home wins without conceding.

They consigned Portsmouth to bottom place with tonight's win while QPR and Coventry played out a draw which sees them both in the bottom three.

We'll be back at 19:15 BST tomorrow to see how Burnley and Sunderland in particular, respond to Leeds' warning shot.

Thanks for your company this evening, rest up and we'll see you back here tomorrow!

That's seven Championship midweek fixtures down, leaving just five to go.

And there are some huge fixtures to come on Wednesday, as five of the top six are in action.

    • Blackburn v West Brom
    • Hull City v Burnley
    • Luton v Sunderland
    • Millwall v Plymouth
    • Middlesbrough v Sheff Utd (20:00 BST)

Portsmouth's defeat at Cardiff sees them drop to the foot of the table, with QPR moving off the bottom after earning a valuable draw with fellow sluggish starters Coventry.

The Sky Blues themselves slide into the bottom three, as victory for Cardiff moves them up to 19th.

  4. Leeds up to secondpublished at 22:01 British Summer Time 22 October

Leeds United move up to second in the table and equal on points with leaders Sunderland after beating Watford.

The only other movement in the top 10 sees Bristol City edge up into ninth after taking a point away from Stoke while Oxford's draw with Derby sees them move into 10th position.

Now that all seven games are done, let's have a look at what the Championship table looks like...

    QPR 1-1 Coventry

A result that takes QPR off the bottom of the table, but only on goal difference.

Haji Wright scored early on, before Kieran Morgan equalised with his first professional goal, but both sides stay in the relegation zone.

No home wins for QPR yet this season, and no away wins for Coventry.

  7. Postpublished at 21:53 British Summer Time 22 October

    QPR 1-1 Coventry

QPR have a free-kick and an opportunity to get the ball into the box.

Jake Clarke-Salter fouls Bobby Thomas while the ball is in the air and the chance goes.

  8. Postpublished at 21:50 British Summer Time 22 October

    QPR 1-1 Coventry

Two minutes down of the four additional minutes.

    Time is running out.

A Cov goal will get them out of the bottom three.

  9. Postpublished at 21:48 British Summer Time 22 October

    QPR 1-1 Coventry

    Massive save from Paul Nardi.

Ellis Simms leads a three-on-one attack but he has the blinkers on and never looks up to look for a team-mate.

The striker's shot is powerful, on target and requires a firm save from Nardi.

But there was certainly a better option to guarantee a crucial goal.

  10. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:47 British Summer Time 22 October

    Leeds 2-1 Watford

Two goals in the opening seven minutes were enough to secure the points for Leeds, though Watford's second-half consolation means they do not go top in their own right tonight.

Watford keeper Daniel Bachmann should have done better with both goals, but he did also produce a string of saves to prevent the hosts from taking over at the top.

Largie Ramazani and Brenden Aaronson were the beneficiaries while Kwadwo Bahh pinched a neat reply on 47 minutes... it turned out to be their final shot on target of the match.

Leeds showed flashes of their class, especially in the first half, but also had to hold firm in the second for a spell, to make it six games unbeaten.

That's five straight away defeats for the Hornets.

  11. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:45 British Summer Time 22 October

    Cardiff 2-0 Portsmouth

Cardiff make it three straight home wins, all with clean sheets, and are out of the Championship relegation zone.

That's 10 points from 12 and Omer Riza is certainly getting a tune out of this squad.

Cardiff-born Wales defender Regan Poole scored an own-goal to set them on their way after six minutes while Callum Robinson smashed in from close range seven minutes later.

They could easily have doubled their tally, though Pompey did improve in the final half-hour as they tried to prevent themselves slipping back to the foot of the table.

  12. Postpublished at 21:43 British Summer Time 22 October

    QPR 1-1 Coventry

Coventry work the ball forward nicely but there is no composure with the finish.

Luis Binks the guilty party as he clears the goal from the edge of the box.

The story of Cov's season in front of goal.

  13. Postpublished at 21:40 British Summer Time 22 October

    Cardiff 2-0 Portsmouth

Marlon Pack launches a long throw into the Cardiff box and then bustles to meet the clearance, whipping in a cross from the right this time which Jak Alnwick is able to gather at his near post at the second attempt.

FIVE added minutes for City to negotiate as Pompey try to set up a grandstand finale.

  14. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:39 British Summer Time 22 October

    Oxford 1-1 Derby

Oxford manager Des BuckinghamImage source, Rex Features

Just days after earning their first point on the road, the Rams make it two in two game on their travels.

This time it takes a second-half goal from Nathaniel Mendez-Laing to earn them a draw against Oxford United.

  15. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:38 British Summer Time 22 October

    Leeds 2-1 Watford

Another save from Watford keeper Daniel Bachmann as Dan James opts to lash in a near-post effort from an angle rather than play it across the face of goal where there were white shirts lurking with intent.

He gets an earful, but they'd all have done the same in his position, I'm sure.

EIGHT added minutes at Elland Road.

  16. Postpublished at 21:38 British Summer Time 22 October

    QPR 1-1 Coventry

QPR haven't won at home this season, Coventry haven't won away.

But there is the feeling of late drama in the air.

The hosts want a penalty after Jimmy Dunne smashes a cross at Jack Rudoni's outstretched arm from about a yard. Would have been harsh.

  17. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:38 British Summer Time 22 October

    Stoke 2-2 Bristol City

Two goals in two second-half minutes from Nahki Wells sees Bristol City battle back to earn a point at Stoke.

Both side remain unbeaten in October.

  18. Postpublished at 21:37 British Summer Time 22 October

    Leeds 2-1 Watford

Watford sub Ken Sema with one of the best lung-busting runs down the left you could wish to see.

He just kept going and going, racing down the whitewash and seeing of Jayden Bogle and Brenden Aaronson twice each, only to get the final ball all wrong after a good 40 yards of work and hook his cross out of the area.

  19. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:36 British Summer Time 22 October

    Sheff Wed 0-0 Swansea

It ends goalless and in all honesty, it probably won't live long in the memory.

A game of very few chances and neither side can complain too much with the outcome.

Jay Fulton struck the post in the first half for Swansea and Sheffield Wednesday created some good openings but lacked the cutting edge to finish moves off.

That's the seventh game out of 11 involving the Swans to end either 0-0 or 1-0 this season.

  20. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:36 British Summer Time 22 October

    Preston 2-2 Norwich

    A point apiece.

Norwich have come from two goals behind to rescue a draw in a highly entertaining game at Deepdale and it's probably a fair result.

Sam Greenwood's penalty and a Duane Holmes strike put Preston in the driving seat inside the first 12 minutes.

But the Canaries battled well to recover and Borja Sainz pulled one back on the stroke of half-time before Shane Duffy slotted home in the 61st minute to complete the comeback.

Probably satisfying enough for both sides when they reflect on this one.
