  1. 'We weren't happy and satisfied with the 1-1'published at 16:34 British Summer Time

    FT: Brighton 2-1 Man City

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "Sometimes football is not too much about tactics. It's about energy, intensity and togetherness on the pitch. The substitutes came in and made the difference. You always can spread energy and it gives your teammates and the whole crowd energy and that is very important in football.

"What we did after we scored the goal and the subs is that we had the belief. We weren't happy and satisfied with the 1-1, we want to go for the second and we deserved it.

"Pep is for me the best coach in the world and it is always a big challenge to face him. He always had new ideas and you have to adapt. It is always the biggest challenge to compete against him but it's not a one man show it is a team performance, and I am very happy that my players delivered that on the pitch, they committed to each other, suffered together.

On James Milner and his penalty equaliser: "He proved already in training, that's why he was chosen to take it today. So I am very happy for him. Not only for the goal but he is still a very important personality and player on the pitch for us. He came on and brought energy and organised it, so I am happy for him."

Neutral here and I just wonder if the fact that Nuno is set for the sack is playing on him and his players minds how do you go from pushing for UCL to losing to 3-0 to a team that lost 3-0 to Sunderland?

  3. Paqueta 'gave everything for the team again'published at 16:31 British Summer Time

FT: Nottm Forest 0-3 West Ham

    West Ham United

West Ham boss Graham Potter, speaking to BBC MOTD: "I have been a manager for 15 years, relatively competent sometimes but it's the players. It's their day today. They've carried out the sea in a really good way. We restricted Forest and carried a threat ourselves.

On Bowen: "There is no doubt about Jarrod. we know how much he loves the club, how much he cares. He's a fantastic captain. It's great he gets the moment in front of the supporters who love him.

On Paqueta performance: "The noise has been around Lucas for a long time and the way he conducts himself is incredible. He gave everything for the team again today and contributed with a goal and the win.

On if Paqueta will remain at West Ham: "Yes.

"It's what we're here for - to win and prove we have the quality and prove we are a team. We can enjoy the next couple of days and prepare when the boys are back."

City's rebuild has been poor by their own standards, and they've not bought well at all. Even before Pep was manger they went out and bought great players like Yaya Toure, David Silva, Aguero, Fernandinho, Sterling etc. This recent haul of Khusanov, Marmoush, Reijnders, Gonzalez, Cherki etc just seems a level below.

Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler, speaking to Sky Sports: "Football isn't always about tactics. It's sometimes about the energy and the togetherness you have. We showed in the second half we had this intensity and this energy, and with this you can win your games.

On making four changes at once with Brighton trailing 1-0: "We didn't really believe in ourselves and didn't feel we were in the game. The players have to deliver on the pitch and all four subs delivered today. i am grateful for everyone."

On James Milner: "He spreads belief. That spreads to the others. There was pressure with the penalty but he has dealt with pressure in his past and has got highlights in his career. He has proved today he can help us.

    "Wins always change the mood."

  6. 'We will have a conversation looking for the best'published at 16:29 British Summer Time

FT: Nottm Forest 0-3 West Ham

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was a shock. The first half was balanced. It required more speed. We were too slow. That was the idea for the second half but it came the other way around.

"There was no urgency. We were not able to create chances and there was a lack of mobility. We played how West Ham wanted us to play. We made mistakes that punished us. We will look internally so it doesn't happen again.

"[Crysencio] Summerville's speed caused problems. When we chased, we left spaces in behind. We all need to know each other better so we can help the team. It's what we have and today was a bad day, but we bounce back."

On conversations with Evangelos Marinakis: "We will have a conversation looking for the best. It's a difficult day for me. We have to make sure it doesn't happen again. I think it's okay. It gives us a chance with the players who stay here to really work on them. Hopefully our players return healthy."

On his future: "I don't only think what I have to do but I must do everything in my power to to help the boys."

  7. 'I'm not Messi'published at 16:26 British Summer Time

    FT: Brighton 2-1 Man City

    Manchester City

Rodri looks onImage source, Getty Images

Manchester City midfielder Rodri speaking to Sky Sports about the importance of his return to the starting lineup:

"I'm not Messi. I'm not going to come back and just make the team win and win and win. This is a collective. When we won in the past I needed all my teammates. For sure I need to recover my best level and we have to look to all of ourselves, it is a collective sport. Hopefully after the break we can be much better."

On what people might think of the team with two defeats in three: "To be honest I don't care. The people can think whatever they want. We just have to work hard and focus on us and let's talk at the end of the season."

  8. 'We are not at the level'published at 16:24 British Summer Time

    FT: Brighton 2-1 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City midfielder Rodri speaking to Sky Sports: "Disappointed because we are Manchester City and we come here to win, but this is the reality. We are not at the level for a long, long time. The only way to come back is to look to ourselves. We started well but the second half we dropped a little bit. Then at home they have pressure and we make two mistakes and it's 2-1.

"We are missing the level. I don't know, call it how you want. It is a matter of the team and the changes, new players have to adapt, and of course when you change the team that much it is difficult. This is our reality, it is not for excuses and we have to see this is not the way to achieve things. let's go to the break and refresh the mind.

"I do think that we had control of the game and we were not our best. We did not create our best match but today we should win because we concede were two big mistakes and counter attacks. Some of the mistakes we are doing are kids mistakes, you are not concentrating and paying attention. The reality is that we have to raise the level if we want to compete."

  10. 'Milner is awesome'published at 16:20 British Summer Time

    FT: Brighton 2-1 Man City

    Joe Hart
Former England and Man City goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

James Milner is awesome. What a man.

I knew when the player was guarding the ball I knew Milner would take it. He is doing himself great credit.

He is a really good footballer, he is coming up 40 and he still looks fit and fresh.

It is consistency and it is not rocket science.

  11. 'We deserved our win'published at 16:18 British Summer Time

FT: Nottm Forest 0-3 West Ham

    West Ham United

West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen, speaking to BBC MOTD: "It's nice and it's what we wanted. The start of the season hasn't been what we wanted. It's down to us to change those fortunes. We can't get too worked up about it because we have quality and resilience. It was 0-0 for so long and we stuck at it. We got three goals but it could have been a lot more.

"I thought we defended well and limited them in terms of chances. They're a really good side, they've got Europe and were flying last season. They didn't score and we scored three. We deserved our win."

On exchange with fans versus Wolves: "When things aren't going and you're captain... I'm someone who cares about this club. I play with my heart and these things happen. I play with passion and loyalty. It's never personal with fans, it's all for the love of the club. Today to have that exchange with them in a positive manner before the international break. When those good times come, you enjoy them a lot."

On Lucas Paqueta: "Don't believe everything you read online. Some people didn't think he'd turn up and play but he turned up and scored.

On the goal that wasn't: "We laughed about it on the pitch. For the first two seconds I was fuming. Cal [Callum Wilson] wants to score, he's a striker. It's all football and we won 3-0."

  12. Wilson reprises super-sub rolepublished at 16:17 British Summer Time

FT: Nottm Forest 0-3 West Ham

Watching City at the moment is like watching paint dry. The days of tippy, tappy football are gone. All the top teams now attack with speed whilst City take 30 passes to go forward 10 yards. No trophies this season if we continue with this ponderous style of play.

  14. 'It's an honour to wear Diogo's shirt number'published at 16:15 British Summer Time

    FT: Brighton 2-1 Man City

    Brighton & Hove Albion

James Milner, speaking to Sky Sports, about copying former team-mate Diogo Jota's goal celebration: "Obviously Jots meant so much to everyone. It is an honour to wear his number this season. I have seen him doing it [the celebration] and it was probably a bad impression by me."

On the win: "Unfortunately we have the international break. We'd have liked to have carried on the momentum. The boys did a good job at keeping it to 1-0 [when I came on]. I was trying to stay calm [for the penalty] and I have taken penalties before when I have come off the bench. it's not the easiest thing but I hope my years of experience helped."

    FT: Brighton 2-1 Man City

    Mark Schwarzer
Former Chelsea goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live at The Amex

It's back to the drawing board for Man City. There are a lot of questions still about this team and Pep Guardiola. Is he going to turn it around? he has never been in a situation quite like this before and the hole keeps getting deeper and deeper.

The Seagulls have an impressive record at home versus the top 6 teams. Last season, they obtained a record of W4 D4 L1. Against the eventual top six it was W3 D2 L1, with Aston Villa the only side to get the better of them at the Amex. Looks like the trend is continuing........

What an absolute legend of the game James Milner. His longevity, his fitness and he came on today and scored an excellent penalty. When you need those experienced players to step up in moments he does, he was never going to shy away from it.
