Watching City at the moment is like watching paint dry. The days of tippy, tappy football are gone. All the top teams now attack with speed whilst City take 30 passes to go forward 10 yards. No trophies this season if we continue with this ponderous style of play.

    FT: Brighton 2-1 Man City

    Brighton & Hove Albion

James Milner, speaking to Sky Sports, about copying former team-mate Diogo Jota's goal celebration: "Obviously Jots meant so much to everyone. It is an honour to wear his number this season. I have seen him doing it [the celebration] and it was probably a bad impression by me."

On the win: "Unfortunately we have the international break. We'd have liked to have carried on the momentum. The boys did a good job at keeping it to 1-0 [when I came on]. I was trying to stay calm [for the penalty] and I have taken penalties before when I have come off the bench. it's not the easiest thing but I hope my years of experience helped."

It's back to the drawing board for Man City. There are a lot of questions still about this team and Pep Guardiola. Is he going to turn it around? he has never been in a situation quite like this before and the hole keeps getting deeper and deeper.

Nottingham Forest were beaten by three or more goals in a Premier League home game for the first time since February 1999 (8-1 loss to Manchester United).

This was also Nuno Espirito Santo’s heaviest home defeat in the competition since October 2021 (Tottenham 0-3 Manchester United).

The Seagulls have an impressive record at home versus the top 6 teams. Last season, they obtained a record of W4 D4 L1. Against the eventual top six it was W3 D2 L1, with Aston Villa the only side to get the better of them at the Amex. Looks like the trend is continuing........

What an absolute legend of the game James Milner. His longevity, his fitness and he came on today and scored an excellent penalty. When you need those experienced players to step up in moments he does, he was never going to shy away from it.

What was all that fuss about then? Level on points with title contenders Man City and 3-0 up away at a European qualified club. Potter is a genius.

    FT: Brighton 2-1 Man City

    Mark Schwarzer
Former Chelsea goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live at The Amex

That's a massive win for Brighton. They were frustrated in the first half and Man City seemed to have them at their game. They didn't allow them to play out too much and forced errors.

Yes City could have been a few goals ahead by half time but they weren't and Brighton stuck at it and the substitutions changed the game.

City and Guardiola no longer put fear in other teams like they used to. Doku, O'Reilly, and Bobb have good feet, but they're just not prime David Silva and De Bruyne. Brighton could get right at City, and not fear being picked off like in 2021-23. End of an era?
