  1. Get behind Amorim - Van Nistelrooypublished at 13:41 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November

BBC Sport's chief football news reporter at Old Trafford

Ruud van Nistelrooy's Manchester United future beyond today's game at Old Trafford remains open to question.

Van Nistelrooy has a contract as assistant manager than runs to the end of next season.

However, new boss Ruben Amorim has said he will be bring some of his long-standing backroom team with him from Sporting.

As yet, there has been no confirmation who, or whether Amorim wants Van Nistelrooy, and if so, in what capacity.

For now, Van Nistelrooy has penned his last lost of programme notes.

“United fans have always held a special place in my heart but I can honestly say that my love for you all has only grown during this period," he said.

"The support I have had from the stands at Old Trafford has been fantastic and I have taken memories I will cherish for the rest of my life.

"I see only good things for Manchester United. I absolutely believe this club has all the ingredients to get back to the levels I knew as a player.

"From tomorrow, I will be getting behind our new head coach, Ruben Amorim, and I urge everyone who loves the club to do the same."

This is the final game of Ruud van Nistelrooy's interim stint and he's been handed some welcoming visitors.

Manchester United have scored in each of their last 28 Premier League games against Leicester, since a 1-0 loss in January 1998, and United have lost just two of their last 17 Premier League games against the Foxes.

Nuno Espirito Santo is back on the touchline this afternoon after serving his three-match ban.

The Forest manager has watched from the stands as his side rattled off three straight wins and they have already equalled last season's clean sheet total of four.

Victory against Newcastle would leave them just a point behind Manchester City in second.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe just strode purposefully up the steps from the pitch to the directors' box and then disappeared into the bowels of Old Trafford.

He has overseen massive change at Manchester United since he bought (roughly) a third of the club on Christmas Eve.

  5. 'We're showing good signs of progress and the group is growing'published at 13:29 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November

    Tottenham v Ipswich (14:00 GMT)

    Ipswich Town

Ipswich have drawn five and lost five of their 10 Premier League games this season - and sit only above Southampton in the league.

Boss Kieran McKenna said: "I don't think you can always set an exact expectation or definition of performances because every game is different.

"One of our first goals is to be competitive in every match and we're not too far away from that. Across the 10 games we have certainly been in the large majority of games.

"We would have liked to have won a couple by now but, also, we've only lost five out of 10 with what we have been through and the challenges we have faced over the early part of the season.

"To pick up five results - certainly could have been one or two more - and to be as competitive as we have been, I think there are a lot of positives in there. We know there is another step to take to win games consistently in the Premier League that we haven't taken yet. We're showing good signs of progress and the group is growing."

  6. 'I don't see trophy as panacea for sustained success'published at 13:25 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November

    Tottenham v Ipswich (14:00 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou insists winning a trophy would not automatically mean more would follow.

Spurs are the only member of the so-called big six not to have won anything in recent times.

Their last two bits of silverware were the League Cup in 1999 and 2008.

"I don't see just a trophy as the panacea for sustained success because there is plenty of evidence that is not the case," said Postecoglou.

"I get the fact when you're at a club this size and it hasn't won, people think 'well that is the missing piece'.

"What I have been trying to rail against since I've been here is there is never just a missing piece. It is always more than that. It's about having a clear idea over what you're going to build, how you're going to build it, and staying true to that.

"I could be going, 'let's just win a trophy this year, everything will be fine', but I win a trophy, we finish 10th and five games into next year I get sacked. Not that it's about me but then the club has to change direction again so have you really done anything? I don't think so.

"That's why I'm just trying to stay really clear on knowing what we want to achieve in terms of sustained success. Does that include trophies? Absolutely, but it's not going to be one simple thing that opens the floodgates."

  7. Sutton's predictionpublished at 13:22 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November

Tottenham Hotspur v Ipswich Town (14:00 GMT)

    Chris Sutton
    Former Premier League striker

I got a lot of stick for saying I supported Nottingham Forest last week - as well as a few of the clubs that I played for; Norwich, Blackburn and Celtic - and regular 5 live listeners will know that I have been accused of having Tottenham as another one of my teams.

They aren't, but I make no apologies for being a fan of Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou and his style of expansive football. At times it is crazy, with the risks they take, but I love watching it.

My Canaries connection means no-one is going to ever mistake me for an Ipswich fan, so this may shock a few people, but I felt sorry for them last week.

They have briefly come out of Norwich's shadow to reach the Premier League and are desperate for their first win of the season, but they were on the wrong end of a couple of shocking late decisions in their draw with Leicester.

They have the advantage of not having European football this week - they have not had to worry about that for more than 20 years - while Tottenham play Galatasaray in Turkey on Thursday.

I still think Spurs will win, though, and Ipswich will be back in the Championship with Norwich next season.

    Sutton's prediction: 3-1

  8. 'Patience' key for developing younger players - Howepublished at 13:19 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has stressed the importance of patience in the development of young players, following left-back Lewis Hall's first call-up to the senior England squad on Thursday.

Hall joined the Magpies from Chelsea as an 18-year-old last summer and, now 20, has fully established himself as a first-team regular this season with the Magpies - starting seven of their 10 Premier League games and coming off the bench in the other three.

"Patience is something you need and I know that as a father, when you're with your kids and whatever you're trying to help them with, whether it's maths or whatever subject or part of their life, you can get frustrated and impatient with their development," said Howe.

"You need to sometimes just be calm and let them develop in their own way.

"We always try to push the players and try to help them, and Lewis is a really good case in point for us now to point to in the future.

"It was the same with Anthony [Gordon]. You go through a period with every player and you can never look at one case and go 'that's how long it will take you'. It's all unique to the individual."

Nottingham Forest go into their home game against Newcastle United sitting third in the Premier League.

A win would ensure they finish the weekend there and just a point behind second-placed Manchester City.

However, Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo has urged his players to not get distracted by their impressive start to the season and the praise from outside.

"My ambition is Newcastle, honestly. I'm not just saying, I truly believe that and I also truly believe that the players think the same way.

"We cannot get distracted, nothing can distract us. The focus is on the pitch.

"Compliments and players having the recognition is good but it's also the moment to stay on track.

"What we've done doesn't mean anything if we don't do it again on Sunday against Newcastle. This is what we are thinking about - Newcastle, Newcastle.

"It's going to be so hard - such a good team, such good players coming from a good result the previous weekend.

"But the City Ground's buzzing, so this is what we are looking forward to."

Nottingham Forest forward Chris Wood has been named Premier League player of the month for October, while Nuno Espirito Santo has won the manager's award.

Wood becomes the first Reds player to win the award, and also the first from New Zealand to pick up the prize.

Wood scored four goals in the top flight last month, helping Forest stay unbeaten in their three Premier League matches.

Nuno won the manager's award after Forest took seven points from their three games in the month, drawing at Chelsea before beating Crystal Palace and Leicester.

It is the fifth time the Portuguese boss has won the award, after three previous successes during his time at Wolves and one while he was in charge of Tottenham.

  11. Sutton's predictionpublished at 13:11 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November

Nottingham Forest v Newcastle United (14:00 GMT)

    Chris Sutton
    Former Premier League striker

In many respects this is a battle of two strikers. I loved Alexander Isak's header for Newcastle against Arsenal last week. It was a classic centre-forward’s finish.

But this is the Chris Wood derby - aka the 'Wood Chopper' derby - and I am backing him to give Nottingham Forest the cutting edge they need against his former club.

Forest are a team with good balance in that they set out not to concede but they also have players who can threaten on the counter.

Their confidence must be sky-high and I see their good run continuing.

    Sutton's prediction: 2-1

    Leicester City

Any Manchester United fan leaving a game early would need their head testing anyway but...

Each of Leicester’s last four Premier League away games has seen a result-altering goal scored in the 90th minute, the longest such run in the competition’s history (draw with Crystal Palace, loss to Arsenal, victory against Southampton, draw with Ipswich Town).

    Wow...

Man Utd v Leicester (14:00 GMT)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter at Old Trafford

Ruud van Nistelrooy has a chance for a little Manchester United one-upmanship at Old Trafford today.

Victory over Leicester would be his third out of four matches since Erik ten Hag was dismissed. The 75% winning record would be better than either Ryan Giggs (50%) and Michael Carrick (66.67%) managed in their short spells at the helm.

Giggs won two, drew one and lost one of his four games in charge at the end of the 2013-14 season following David Moyes' dismissal.

Carrick won two and drew one of the three matches he was named interim boss for in the 2021-22 campaign after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had been sacked.

In fairness, Giggs and Carrick both had away games - two of Carrick's three matches were not at Old Trafford - whereas Van Nistelrooy had a four-match home run.

  14. Sutton's predictionpublished at 13:02 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November

Man Utd v Leicester City (14:00 GMT)

    Chris Sutton
    Former Premier League striker

Manchester United thrashed Leicester, in the Carabao Cup at the end of October in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s first game as interim manager, but the Foxes had made nine changes from their previous league game.

So I am not sure that 5-2 scoreline tells us too much about what will happen here, but I do think United will win again.

I have put United midfielder Bruno Fernandes back into my Fantasy team. I should have captained him last week, when he scored a penalty against Chelsea - my assistant [his son Ollie who is the 'Taylor' in their Brian Clough and Peter Taylor managerial partnership] told me to do that, but I didn’t listen.

    Sutton's prediction: 2-1

Defeats for Southampton and Crystal Palace on Saturday heaped more pressure on Oliver Glasner and Russell Martin. A draw for West Ham is unlikely to dampen talk about Julien Lopetegui's position too.

Ipswich have made two changes to the side which conceded a stoppage-time equaliser to draw with Leicester last week, although one of them is enforced. Axel Tuanzebe and Jens Cajuste have come in for Conor Chaplin and the suspended Kalvin Phillips.

Ipswich XI: Muric, Johnson, Tuanzebe, Burgess, O’Shea, Davis, Hutchinson, Morsy, Cajuste, Szmodics, Delap.

Subs: Clarke, Woolfenden, Burns, Chaplin, Townsend, Luongo, Hirst, Clarke, Walton.

Man Utd v Leicester (14:00 GMT)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter at Old Trafford

Amad Diallo was by far the most threatening forward for Manchester United against PAOK on Sunday.

However, Amad had to be substituted late in the game and interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy was not totally certain whether the Ivornian would be fit for today's game.

Well, he had made it - and starts at the expense of Alejandro Garnacho, who has been struggling for form in recent games.

Ruud van Nistelrooy makes just one change from the side which drew with Chelsea as Amad Diallo comes into the line-up to replace Alejandro Garnacho. There is no place on the bench for Luke Shaw after he returned to training.

Man Utd XI: Onana; Dalot, De Ligt, Martinez, Mazraoui; Casemiro, Ugarte; Diallo, Fernandes, Rashford; Hojlund.

Leicester make three changes from the team who drew at Ipswich. Super sub Jordan Ayew comes in along with James Justin and Boubakary Soumare. Jamie Vardy, Stephy Mavididi and Ricardo Pereira step out.

Leicester XI: Hermansen; Justin, Faes, Vestergaard, Kristiansen; Soumarre, Ndidi, Winks; Fatawu, Ayew, Buonanotte.

    Nick Mashiter
BBC Sport football news reporter at the City Ground

Nottingham Forest are, unsurprisingly, unchanged from last week's 3-0 win over West Ham.

James Ward-Prowse returns to the bench, having been unable to face his parent club, along with defender Morato as Forest look for a fourth successive Premier League win for the first time since 1995.

Nottingham Forest XI: Sels, Aina, Milenkovic, Murillo, Moreno, Dominguez, Yates, Hudson-Odoi, Gibbs-White, Elanga, Wood.

Subs: Williams, Ward-Prowse, Boly, Anderson, Sosa, Silva, Awoniyi, Morato, Miguel.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe also sticks with the same side which beat Arsenal 1-0.

The Magpies, who won at the City Ground in the Carabao Cup in August, are looking to stretch their unbeaten league run at the stadium to seven games.

Newcastle XI: Pope, Livramento, Schar, Burn, Hall, Longstaff, Guimaraes, Willock, Joelinton, Gordon, Isak.

Subs: Kelly, J Murphy, Tonali, Barnes, Almiron, Targett, Miley, Oslua, Dubravka.
