    Southampton 0-2 Man Utd

The visitors go close to a third.

Noussair Mazraoui is played in down the right but the Moroccan's shot goes into the side-netting.

Manchester United just look far more ruthless than the home side.

Liverpool v Nottingham Forest (15:00 BST)

    Emlyn Begley
    BBC Sport at Anfield

Liverpool are flying despite their lack of summer signings.

Three wins, no goals conceded. No manager has ever managed four games like that in his first four Premier League games.

Will Italy winger Federico Chiesa make his debut today? I imagine the boy I saw with Chiesa 14 on the back of his new shirt earlier will hope so.

Risky business getting a new player on the back of your kit isn’t it?

Chiesa scarves on sale too in the city centre.

It's about responding now Southampton need the next goal.

Man Utd will wait for them as the onus is on Southampton, they will wait for Saints to commit and then hit them on the break.

    Southampton 0-2 Man Utd

Southampton with some early possession, it feels like they need to walk before they can run after their confidence was so shattered towards the end of that first half.

Play their way back into the game and maybe a goal will follow?

We're back under way at St Mary's - no half-time changes.

As good as Southampton were in the first 30 minutes, it's going to take a big momentum shift for the promoted side to derail Manchester United now.

But maybe Erik ten Hag's side will derail themselves? It's been known...

Congratulations Southampton! Once again you've blown a good chance to take a deserved win, but instead you hand an undeserved United the lead. You have to take the chances you're given.

    Laurie

It's almost like these two teams are adamant to prove who is worst defensively.

    Peter Crouch

    Tyler Dibling was fantastic.

Both Southampton wingers have looked dangerous. It was the stop-start from Dibling which slowed Dalot down. But, it was a poor penalty from Cameron Archer.

It’s about time Rashford scored. Needless to say I’m happy for him it will be a morale boost. But, can anyone really bet against Man United conceding the lead by the end of 90 minutes? Just saying.

    Julius

    De Ligtful! Well deserved.

Southampton have had both of their Premier League penalties against Manchester United saved (also Manolo Gabbiadini by Sergio Romero in May 2017).

Ramsdale is having a good game and has made some superb saves but he’s getting zero help from his defence.

    Nick

Ramsdale is an exceptional keeper, and without him Southampton could be four down. I like the way the Saints set-up to play, but they need a much better back four in front of Ramsdale to succeed in the Premier League.

    Tattz

You can't help but feel for the Southampton fans. It's the hope that kills you.

Manchester United's Matthijs de Ligt celebrates with team matesImage source, PA Media

A first Manchester United goal for Matthijs de Ligt and a first for Marcus Rashford in six months has the visitors in control at the break.

BUT... there's much more to this than the scoreline suggests.

Southampton were the better side for the first half-hour, Tyler Dibling standing out and winning a penalty - which Andre Onana then saved from Cameron Archer.

The hosts will feel deflated - I'm not sure they'll have the spirit to fight back.

  13. Postpublished at 45+3 mins

Manchester United are hunting for a killer third, like the predators they once were.

They're probing, Southampton are trying to press but the intensity has dropped somewhat.

Man Utd have recognised that this is the time to turn the screw.

It's like someone has taken a pin to a balloon in this place.

  16. CLOSE!published at 45 mins

    Southampton 0-2 Man Utd

Southampton are all over the place now.

Manchester United centre-back Matthijs de Ligt - who already has one goal - is able to shoot from seven yards but Aaron Ramsdale came out well and made himself big to save.

How quickly a game can change. The Saints were on top but a penalty miss and two set-piece goals mean they're completely on the back foot now.

  17. 'Terrific goal from Rashford'published at 13:13 British Summer Time 14 September

Terrific effort and goal from Marcus Rashford.

Again Southampton have nobody on the edge of the area, they are slow out to Rashford - that is the difference.

Another short corner, another Manchester United goal.

This time it's Marcus Rashford - those extra individual training sessions have paid off - he nudges the ball inside and his strike goes through a load of bodies and in off the post.

It's one where you wonder how it went in. It wasn't the best attempt ever but, equally, I'm not sure Aaron Ramsdale could've done much.

  19. GREAT SAVE!published at 41 mins

    Southampton 0-1 Man Utd

Manchester United again on the counter - Marcus Rashford bares down on goal after a fine through ball from Adam Diallo - but, on his home debut, Aaron Ramsdale makes another smart stop from close range.

    Another corner for the visitors.

  20. Postpublished at 40 mins

    Southampton 0-1 Man Utd

Amad Diallo weaves, Bruno Fernandes attempts to bend one inside the far post - but the Portugal midfielder's attempt is blocked.

Manchester United can sense an opportunity to inflict further damage.
