  1. YELLOW CARDpublished at 28 mins

    Exeter 0-0 Burton

JJ McKiernan gathers the loose ball on the edge of his own box for Burton and tries to break away but he's pulled back by Kevin McDonald and the Exeter midfielder is into the book.

  2. Postpublished at 27 mins

    Exeter 0-0 Burton

Exeter have had 72% possession so far and considering the wind and rain, are playing some neat stuff.

Gary Bowyer won't mind if his Burton side don't have a kick all the while it's still 0-0. Could be a long afternoon if the Brewers don't get a foot on the ball at some point, though.

  3. Postpublished at 24 mins

    Exeter 0-0 Burton

A reminder that Burton were 11 points adrift of safety at the bottom of League One at the turn of the year.

Might a point be a good result today with Bristol Rovers having to travel to Wrexham?

As it stands, Albion are one point ahead of the Gas in 21st.

  4. 'It's looking positive for Exeter'published at 13:21 British Summer Time 18 April

Fantastic play from Exeter, it's quick and sharp football.

It's a one-on-one opportunity and he has to do better.

It's looking positive for Exeter, all Burton can do it contest physically.

  5. GREAT SAVE!published at 20 mins

    Exeter 0-0 Burton

    Exeter should be 1-0 up!

The Grecians work it well through the middle of the pitch with a brilliant slick move.

Jack McMillan is played in behind and is one-on-one but his effort is saved by Max Crocombe's outstretched leg.

  6. Postpublished at 17 mins

    Exeter 0-0 Burton

Exeter's Jack McMillan slides into a meaty challenge on Brewers defender Jason Sraha on the edge of the Albion box.

No yellow card but a stern talking to by the ref for McMillan.

Bit of a Sunday league tackle and he's got away without further punishment there.

  7. Postpublished at 15 mins

    Exeter 0-0 Burton

Burton's first real attack of promise. Julian Larsson steals it on the edge of the area from Reece Cole and fires over the bar via a deflection.

The corner comes in from the right but it's overhit by Owen Dodgson. Perhaps the wind played a part in that one...

  8. 'Burton are struggling out of possession'published at 13:14 British Summer Time 18 April

    Exeter 0-0 Burton

    Aaron Webster
Former Burton Albion defender on BBC Radio Derby

Burton are struggling a bit with the press.

Exeter are playing a lot of football in front of Albion, but they have struggled out of possession.

They're asking questions, they look more confident and Exeter are able to get players into pockets. It's allowing players like Jack McMillan to find space.

  9. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 13 mins

    Exeter 0-0 Burton

Sonny Cox gets into the penalty area on the left for Exeter and goes down under a challenge from Burton's Udoka Godwin-Malife... never a penalty, though.

  10. Postpublished at 11 mins

    Exeter 0-0 Burton

Exeter are playing some nice football in the opening 11 minutes or so. Pinging the ball about nicely and Burton are chasing shadows so far.

Still just the one early chance through Caleb Watts to show for it until now, though, which was cleared off the line by Dylan Williams.

  11. Postpublished at 9 mins

    Exeter 0-0 Burton

Just an insight into how heavily the rain has fallen in Exeter before this game... The pitch is seriously wet. Puddles on the surface are slowing the ball up from time to time.

  12. Postpublished at 8 mins

    Exeter 0-0 Burton

Burton's Owen Dodgson goes to ground on the left on the halfway line and wins a free-kick, much to the frustration of Exeter's Caleb Watts.

Let's just say Watts doesn't think it was a foul...

  13. 'It's nice football from Exeter'published at 13:05 British Summer Time 18 April

    Exeter 0-0 Burton

    Bow Jackson
Exeter City Women's captain on BBC Radio Devon

The football Exeter are playing is really nice.

They're playing one-touch football, in previous games they've looked a bit tentative on the ball.

    It's really good to watch

  14. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Exeter 0-0 Burton

Exeter have come out the traps very quickly at St James Park and are dominating early proceedings. Burton just need to try and ride the storm - both metaphorically and literally in these conditions.

  15. OFF THE LINE!published at 2 mins

    Exeter 0-0 Burton

    Seriously... good start!

Caleb Watts goes clean through on the right for Exeter, rounds goalkeeper Max Crocombe and fires an effort on target but Dylan Williams does excellently for Burton to get back and block it on the line!

  16. Postpublished at 1 min

    Exeter 0-0 Burton

Good start. Exeter launch it forward from kick-off and it swirls out of play and out of the stadium.

  17. KICK-OFFpublished at 1 min

    Exeter 0-0 Burton

The players have switched ends before kick-off...

But now, away we go in Exeter for what is very much a more important game for Burton in their survival scrap than it is for the hosts.

Can the Brewers continue their great escape?

  18. Here come the teams...published at 12:57 British Summer Time 18 April

    Exeter v Burton (13:00 BST)

The two sets of players are out on the turf at a very wet and windy St James Park in the south-west.

Isn't it supposed to be "British Summer Time" now?

  19. Two changes for both Exeter and Burtonpublished at 12:54 British Summer Time 18 April

Exeter City boss Gary Caldwell makes two changes from the side that won 2-1 at Bristol Rovers last weekend.

Angus MacDonald and Ed Francis return to the side in place of Jack Fitzwater and Tony Yogane who both drop to the bench.

Gary Bowyer also makes two alterations for Burton Albion from Saturday's 3-0 win over Huddersfield.

Skipper Ryan Sweeney returns at the heart of the defence in place of Finn Delap, who drops to the bench.

Dylan Williams also come in for Anthony Forde, who is not in the squad after going off injured in the first half of the victory over the Terriers.

  20. Has Brewers great escape almost come to the boil?published at 12:51 British Summer Time 18 April

    Exeter v Burton (13:00 BST)

Burton boss Gary BowyerImage source, Rex Features

If you'd told Burton Albion fans they'd have a chance to move three points clear of the relegation zone when they were 11 points adrift of safety at the bottom of League One in early January, they might not have believed you.

But that's exactly the opportunity the Brewers have at Exeter this afternoon with what previously seemed an impossible escape now very much possible.

Manager Gary Bowyer has done excellent work since he took over in Staffordshire, picking up 30 points from his 22 games in charge.

Compare that to the 12 points Albion amassed in the 19 matches prior to his appointment and it's quite the turnaround.

Burton have won three of their past six, including a 3-0 victory over Huddersfield last time out, to propel themselves out of the drop zone for the first time since September and now they just need to try and finish the job.
