Absolutely heartbreaking to see Hillsborough like this. Local derby for us, and you’re staying away because the owner has left us with absolutely no choice. I do appreciate the concern and condolences from fans of other teams, but enough is enough, the EFL need to step in.

    James in Sheffield

  9. goal

GOAL - Bournemouth 0-1 Brentfordpublished at 20:19 British Summer Time 26 August

    Fabio Carvalho (34 mins)

It's against the run of play but Brentford take the lead!

Kristoffer Ajer heads across the box following a diagonal cross, and Fabio Carvalho finishes past Djordje Petrovic completely unopposed.

The Bournemouth defence was at sixes and sevens there - Petrovic expected his defenders to track Carvalho, while the defence expected their goalkeeper to come and claim.

Either way, that's a very sloppy goal for Bournemouth to concede, nobody was near Carvalho.

There are 3,500 Leeds fans at Hillsborough.

    Wolves 1-0 West Ham

    Nick Mashiter
BBC Sport football news reporter at Molineux

Hwang Hee-Chan almost got his first Wolves goal since December and first since netting for South Korea in March.

It was a well struck penalty and the post was still shaking when Rodrigo Gomes reacted quickest to follow in to give Wolves a barely deserved lead.

    West Ham were too slow.

  20. Postpublished at 20:11 British Summer Time 26 August

    Bournemouth 0-0 Brentford

Rivalries aside, a nice sub-plot to tonight's game is Brentford left-back Aaron Hickey making his first start since October 2023.

The Scotland international suffered a serious hamstring injury early in his second season with the Bees, before a set back caused him to miss most of last season as well.
