Brentford's secret weapon is the pace of Kevin Schade. Axel Disasi has looked nervy but he is dealing with it ok at the moment. You just get the feeling that if he leaves space in behind Schade will take it.

There is a brief break in play as Kevin Schade goes down holding his face after colliding with Axel Disasi.

The replay shows he just ran into the Villa defender so no foul. He is quickly ok to continue though.

You can't ask for any more than the delivery put in by Youri Tielemans and it should be 1-0 Aston Villa. He plays it into the middle and Tyrone Mings drops in behind the Brentford back line to meet it.

Mings tries to steer it into the back of the net but if he hits it with any velocity Mark Flekken is bang in trouble.

Chance for Villa.

Youri Tielemans' free-kick finds Tyrone Mings completely unmarked on the edge of the six yard box, but he cannot get proper contact on his shot and Mark Flekken collects.

Villa will have wanted someone like Ollie Watkins on the end of that.

Brentford are going to be so happy for Villa to keep the ball because when it turns over they don't half go for the throat. They play forwards really quickly in order to try and catch out the opposition.

A good break from Villa sees Jacob Ramsey cut in from the left and his shot is cleared away by the head of Nathan Collins for a corner.

Nothing comes of it, though.

Just as I say that, Brentford create an opening.

Mikkel Damsgaard plays a lovely ball through to Vitaly Janelt on the left and his low cross causes a bit of chaos in the six yard box - but the assistant's flag goes up.

Moments earlier John McGinn gave away possession inside his own area and it took a good clearance from Youri Tielemans to bail his team-mate out of trouble.

Brentford's home form is bizarre. All the way back to early December was their last Premier League home win and before that they couldn't stop winning at home.

Leon Bailey runs onto a searching pass down the right, but Vitaly Janelt does well to shepherd the ball out of play.

Aston Villa have had most of the ball so far, but not much has happened.

Villa goalkeeper Robin Olsen is given an early touch of the ball. This is just his fourth appearance of the season and first start in the Premier League.

Aston Villa get the game started.

The teams are walking out onto the pitch on a lovely early spring evening at the Gtech, where there have been more Premier League goals scored than any other ground so far this season.

Southampton boss Ivan Juric, speaking to BBC Sport: "They reacted really well. We had really good moments of the first half. I think the [first] penalty was not a penalty and that changed the match. I am satisfied with how we played today.

"This cannot be a penalty ever. I'm sorry it happened because it was 1-1 and it changed the match a little bit. We have lots of young players who want to grow up and improve.

"We can lose but we have to fight like we fight today."

Liverpool

Liverpool forward Harvey Elliott, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "In my eyes, it's just my job to come on and influence the game where I can.

"The last two games have been very tough - it is not about me, it's about the whole team.

"It was an intense game. Especially with the travel, we only had one day to prepare for this game and hats off to Southampton - they made it tough throughout the whole game.

"We need to keep winning games - it's as simple as that.

"It's about taking it game-by-game and making sure we apply ourselves in the best possible way."
