  1. Postpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 11 May

    Newcastle 1-0 Chelsea

St James' Park is jumping now and the roof might have come off the place had Dan Burns' header found the top corner rather than flying just wide.

Actually, the offside flag was up regardless.

Still, Newcastle will be scenting blood.

  2. 'Don't think Jackson meant to make contact on the jaw'published at 12:38 British Summer Time 11 May

    Newcastle 1-0 Chelsea

    Rachel Corsie
Scotland and Aston Villa captain on BBC Radio 5 Live

It was dangerous from Jackson. He knows he is not going to win the ball and sometimes you think you are just going to go in and make the collision happen. One thing is I don't quite think he meant to make the contact on the jaw.

  3. RED CARD - Nicolas Jacksonpublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 11 May

    Newcastle 1-0 Chelsea

No surprise once the referee was sent to the screen. The yellow card is upgraded to red and Nicolas Jackson is off!

The Chelsea striker did look at Sven Botman and led with his elbow, whether it was intentional or not, he was always running a big risk.

The away side are down to 10 men and, with a ban to follow, Jackson's season is over.

  4. 'I don't think it's an out-and-out elbow'published at 12:36 British Summer Time 11 May

    Newcastle 1-0 Chelsea

    Ally McCoist
Former Rangers striker on TNT Sports

Nicolas Jackson has a wee look. They'll have a look at that.

It's one of these ones, he has a look. I think he puts his arm out to protect him. I don't think it's an arm to the face.

I don't think it's an out-and-out elbow to the head but he could go.

VAR should be upgrading that to red, it’s a forearm smash! He wasn’t even looking at the ball!

  6. 'Jackson leading with his elbow'published at 12:35 British Summer Time 11 May

    Newcastle 1-0 Chelsea

    Pat Nevin
Former Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 Live at St James' Park

Jackson is really struggling so far, he has been dominated. I tell you what this red card decision is going to be tight.

He's looking at the player and leading with his elbow.

I tell you what, this could be more than a yellow.

Has Nicolas Jackson put an elbow into Sven Botman's head? He did glance at the defender first?

Yep, John Brooks is being sent to the screen...

  8. YELLOW CARDpublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 11 May

    Newcastle 1-0 Chelsea

Nicholas Jackson is shown a yellow card for clattering into Sven Botman as the pair go up for a header.

  9. Postpublished at 12:33 British Summer Time 11 May

    Newcastle 1-0 Chelsea

Excellent work from Jacob Murphy to win the ball back from Noni Madueke but dinking a ball into the path of Harvey Barnes to start a counter-attack.

Barnes' pass to Anthony Gordon sends the former Everton man a little wide, he plays it back to Barnes but his pass drifts beyond Alexander Isak for a goal kick.

  10. Postpublished at 12:31 British Summer Time 11 May

    Newcastle 1-0 Chelsea

The Newcastle fans are imploring referee John Brooks to go into his top pocket and show Moises Caicedo a yellow card after the Chelsea man clatters into Anthony Gordon.

Free-kick given but nothing more. Despite a number of hefty challenges, that is only the second foul Caicedo has conceded.

  11. Postpublished at 12:29 British Summer Time 11 May

    Newcastle 1-0 Chelsea

Just a note on the Newcastle formation that plenty of you were trying to figure out pre-match.

It is a back three/ back five with Jacob Murphy at right wing-back and Tino Livramento on the left.

Seems to be working a treat so far.

  12. Postpublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 11 May

    Newcastle 1-0 Chelsea

Harvey Barnes wriggles past a couple of tackles on the edge of the Chelsea box but his shot is a tame one. Easily gathered by Robert Sanchez.

Chelsea are being a lesson here. I bet Maresca doesn’t have a plan b, he will just change the players not the formation which he clearly needs to do. But even if he does I feel Newcastle can counter it and cope.

  14. Postpublished at 12:25 British Summer Time 11 May

    Newcastle 1-0 Chelsea

Moises Caicedo whistles a shot wide from distance. That's about as much as Chelsea have been able to create so far.

  15. Postpublished at 12:24 British Summer Time 11 May

    Newcastle 1-0 Chelsea

Newcastle are man-marking Chelsea all over the pitch and with the help of some less than convincing passes out from the back from Robert Sanchez, it is helping them cause the visitors problems.

The latest risky pass sees Bruno Guimaraes get a foot in to tackle Enzo Fernandez but, much to the Blues' relief, a free-kick is given.

Looked a bit soft to me.

  16. Postpublished at 12:21 British Summer Time 11 May

    Newcastle 1-0 Chelsea

Chelsea threaten with Noni Madueke putting in a good ball from the left.

It's half cleared by Newcastle and Cole Palmer has two efforts at goal, the first blocked and the second deflected behind.

But the corner comes to nothing.

  17. 'Poor effort by Isak'published at 12:21 British Summer Time 11 May

    Newcastle 1-0 Chelsea

    Ally McCoist
Former Rangers striker on TNT Sports

Alexander Isak's got to go for it and he's got time. For him that's a poor effort.

It's not an easy one to take but he can handle that better than most.

    Newcastle 1-0 Chelsea

Oooff. That's a crunching tackle from Moises Caicedo on Sven Botman.

The referee plays advantage and Newcastle win a free-kick just inside the Chelsea half.

Sandro Tonali lifts it into the box, Dan Burn heads it back across goal but Alexander Isak miskicks the shot into the ground.

  19. Postpublished at 12:18 British Summer Time 11 May

    Newcastle 1-0 Chelsea

Sloppy play at the back from Chelsea with a poor kick from Robert Sanchez but between them Newcastle pair Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak fail to muster a shot at goal.

    A let off for Sanchez.

  20. 'Caicedo too exposed'published at 12:17 British Summer Time 11 May

    Newcastle 1-0 Chelsea

    Julien Laurens
European football expert on BBC Radio 5 Live

I understand Maresca wanting to play Caicedo in at right back, when we see Chelsea with possession he is coming inside to help in midfield on the same line as Lavia.

But without the ball against a team like Newcastle he is too exposed.
