We need a cup run and we need to start winning games.

Frank Lampard is going absolutely crazy.

He has a point, the referee needs help from his officials.

  2. Postpublished at 20:11 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    Coventry 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Frank Lampard is adamant that his side should have a free-kick but play goes on. Lots of fans left before full-time to get out of the chill and it's the visitors who look the more likely to score now.

  6. Robinson makes light of Man City hammeringpublished at 20:07 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    FT: Man City 8-0 Salford

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter at the Etihad Stadium

Salford manager Karl Robinson has just been into the press conference room.

He wasn't too downcast at his side's hammering by Manchester City.

He even managed to crack a joke after his side's six-match run without conceding a goal came to a shuddering end.

"I have told the players if someone had told me we would concede eight goals in seven games I would have taken it," he said.

"I just didn’t expect it to be all in one match."

  7. 'A tough afternoon for Salford'published at 20:05 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    FT: Man City 8-0 Salford

    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC iPlayer

    A tough afternoon for Salford.

I hope it doesn't affect them going forward as they're in a great position and they have an experienced manager who has been around the block.

The quicker they can try to forget this, the better it will be for them.

  8. 'Grealish had a good night'published at 20:03 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    FT: Man City 8-0 Salford

    Joe Hart
Former Man City goalkeeper on BBC One

Jack Grealish had a really good night. He didn't look like a guy out of form.

The attacking play was based around where Jack was.

  9. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 20:03 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    Coventry 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

It's Wednesday who have all the momentum now, Barry Bannan makes them such a better side and his cross is turned in at the far post by goalscorer Anthony Musaba - but he's offside this time.

  10. 'This is a glimmer of what we want to be'published at 20:02 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    FT: Man City 8-0 Salford

    Salford City

Salford boss Karl Robinson speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "You always know you're at the mercy of the quality of the competition. Man City and Pep have never disrespected anybody and tonight they showed us why they are what they are and why he is who he is. It's about dusting ourselves off, we've come on so much in 12 months and to be where we are in the league. We have one goal and that is to get out of this league. This is a glimmer of what we want to be and we know we've got so much to improve and we know where we want to be.

"I said to the players I would have taken eight goals conceded in seven games, I just didn't expect them to all come in one. We're proud of them, I really am. They never let me down. We make human error but that's part of the level we're at. Some of the things we weren't so good at, we'll make sure we're better. We'll learn because of today.

"For me, it's not a case of me trying to pick them up or have a go at them. You take it in the chin. You hope for these glamour ties and we managed to get it. This was never a game we would look at and use as a disappointment moving forward. We make sure we plan properly for our next game."

  11. Postpublished at 20:00 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has brought the Salford City players into his team's dressing room afterwards. Which means we're still waiting for his post-match interview.

    Alan Shearer

I thought Jack Grealish did everything that he could have done. He has had a tough time and Pep has called him out.

Pep has put him back in the team, it will have been a kick up the backside and you've got to go out and show a reaction and he has done that.

I think it’s simply disrespectful after Man City’s current run together with their club status to put eight past Salford tonight! They couldn’t be more disrespect tonight! Shameful!!

    FT: Coventry 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

    Steve Ogrizovic
Ex-Coventry City goalkeeper on BBC CWR

Sheffield Wednesday haven't done enough to score all night but while Coventry were down to 10 men they scramble one in. It looked like a comfortable win for Coventry.

  16. 'Man City looked clinical'published at 19:55 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    FT: Man City 8-0 Salford

    Joe Hart
Former Man City goalkeeper on BBC One

Man City looked clinical and looked hungry.

They didn't look desperate, they were patient and the finishing was top-class. I felt for [Salford keeper] Matty Young tonight, there were balls flying past him - some top finishing.

    Right at the end!

Coventry were down to 10 men as Luis Binks had a cut eye and while they re-organised a header from a corner is turned in by Anthony Musaba.

Unbelievably we are going to have extra-time.

  20. 'Man City were so good'published at 19:51 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    FT: Man City 8-0 Salford

    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC One

We have seen top teams be done by lesser teams because they have not had the right attitude, but there was none of that tonight.

At half-time we thought what are City going to do?

They were so good and they created so many chances.
