  1. Man City have 'one hand on the trophy'published at 09:44 British Summer Time 15 May

    Today's newspapers

    The Daily Telegraph

Both Arsenal and Liverpool were above Manchester City after the Gunners held the Blues to a goalless draw at Etihad Stadium on 31 March.

The defending champions have since won all eight league games and one more against West Ham on Sunday will secure the title.

  2. Blues remain unbeaten since Christmaspublished at 09:37 British Summer Time 15 May

    Tottenham 0-2 Man City

Manchester City won't be able to match Arsenal's Invincibles by going a whole Premier League season unbeaten, but a win on Sunday would see them surpass that great side of 2003-04 for points earned.

The Gunners finished that season with 90, having won 26 games and drawn 12, while City are currently on 88 having won 27, drawn seven and lost three.

The last of those defeats came at Aston Villa on 6 December, meaning Pep Guardiola's men are now unbeaten in 22 Premier League games (W18 D4), including all 18 in 2024 (W15 D3).

However, the last two teams to make as long an unbeaten start to a calendar year have failed to go on to win the title in that same year (Liverpool 2nd in 2022, Chelsea 2nd in 2008).

Nothing wrong with the Spurs fans celebrating, rivalry and banter is all part of football and the game would be boring if you couldn't wind your neighbours up.

I am a Spurs fan who was at the game. It was an odd situation where I wanted us to win but if we lost, I would have been OK too, just as long as there was a winner. The vast majority of Spurs fans in the crowd wanted us to win and while the atmosphere wasn’t obviously like a home match v Arsenal or Chelsea, it was still pretty good. Despite media reports, the anti-Arsenal chanting only really happened in a small section of the crowd when we went behind and then again in a larger scale when we had effectively lost.

  6. Ten Hag rejects Rooney injury claimpublished at 09:14 British Summer Time 15 May

Man Utd v Newcastle (20:00 BST)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

Erik ten Hag has blamed much of Manchester United's current problems on a massive injury list, which at least is likely to see the return of Lisandro Martinez against Newcastle this evening.

Assessing Sunday's home defeat by Arsenal on Sky Sports, former skipper Wayne Rooney said he thought some players were hiding behind fitness issues to stay out of the firing line.

Ten Hag says that theory is not correct.

"I see Licha Martinez, I see Bruno [Fernandes] - he did a fitness test on Sunday to play. [Marcus] Rashford did everything he could. He trained and tried to train last week but he didn't make it.

"Players are desperate to play, they want to be in the right shape.

"You see also Victor Lindelof and Raphael Varane, they are training to make themselves available for the final. They do what they can do."

On the other side of Manchester, former United striker Wayne Rooney said on Sky Sports on Sunday that he is "100 per cent" convinced that some of United's injured players are fit enough to play and that manager Erik ten Hag must "take all the stick" for their poor performances.

However, as mentioned in the Express below, the Dutchman responded by saying that "the players are desperate to play".

  8. 'City jump the Guns' to top of tablepublished at 09:04 British Summer Time 15 May

    Today's newspapers

    The Daily Express

Liverpool and Arsenal have each spent plenty of time at the top of the table this season but last night's win at Tottenham means Manchester City will be top heading into the final day of the season for the sixth time in the last seven seasons (apart from 2019-20 when Liverpool won the title).

There is still hope for Arsenal as a City draw against West Ham would open the door for the Gunners to leapfrog the Blues on goal difference, but it's worth noting that on each of the previous five campaigns when City have been leaders heading into the final day they have won the title.

  9. 'One win from history'published at 08:56 British Summer Time 15 May

    Today's newspapers

    The Daily Mail

Manchester City's win at Tottenham put them two points above Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table and means that if they win at home to West Ham on Sunday they will secure a fourth straight title - something that's never been done before in English football.

Manchester City went on to win the league in 2018-19, although Liverpool did manage to clinch their first Premier League title the following season.

City have since won all three Premier League titles and are on the brink of another after winning at Tottenham last night.

There was set to be a lot of stoppage time after Ederson's injury but just as the game went into stoppage time Manchester City eased their nerves with Jeremy Doku earning a penalty as the winger was fouled on the break.

Erling Haaland stepped up to convert his 27th league goal of the season and the Norway striker has now scored 63 goals in 65 Premier League appearances, at least eight more than any other player has across their first two campaigns in the competition (Andy Cole - 55).

It was the fourth time that Ederson has been replaced by Stefan Ortega in a Premier League game this season and the Brazilian was clearly upset at the decision.

But the German has impressed while filling in for City's first-choice keeper this season and made some crucial saves, most notably to block a shot from Son Heung-min after Manuel Akanji was caught in possession near the halfway line.

After an even first half, some Tottenham supporters chanted ‘are you watching Arsenal’ after Erling Haaland tapped in Kevin de Bruyne's square ball for the opening goal on 51 minutes.

Another key moment was when Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson reached to collect a free-kick and collided with Spurs defender Cristian Romero.

There was a lengthy stoppage so that the Brazilian could receive treatment and he was clearly dazed as he played another few minutes before being replaced by substitute keeper Stefan Ortega in the 69th minute.

The supporter appears to complain about "never winning trophies", with the Australian seemingly replying "watch it, I know who you are".

  17. Spurs' foundations are fairly fragile - Postecogloupublished at 08:01 British Summer Time 15 May

    Tottenham 0-2 Man City

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou said: "I think the last 48 hours have revealed to me that the foundations are fairly fragile mate.

"It just means I've got to go back to the drawing board with some things.

"Outside, inside - everywhere. It's been an interesting exercise. I probably misread the situation as to what's important in your endeavour to become a winning team, but that's OK.

"Maybe I'm out of step, but I just don't care. I just want to win and be successful at this football club. It's why I was brought in, so what other people, how they want to feel and what their priorities are, are of zero interest to me. I know what's important to build a winning team, that's what I need to concentrate on."

  18. Postecoglou shows frustration after Man City defeatpublished at 07:55 British Summer Time 15 May

    Tottenham 0-2 Man City

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou was clearly miffed at talk of their supporters being more concerned with Arsenal missing out on the title, saying that 100% of their fans would want Spurs to beat Manchester City. After all, they still had a Champions League place to play for - as well as pride, of course.

As it transpired, some took pleasure in their own team losing, and that may have been one reason for the Australian coach's frustration at the news conference following Tuesday's game.

We'll bring you some of those comments shortly.

Even some Tottenham fans were doing the Poznan after Manchester City had broken the deadlock as a City win meant they went back above Arsenal heading into the final day.

Victory at home to West Ham on Sunday will mean City deny Spurs' north London rivals the Premier League title for a second season running, but what do you think about their fans - admittedly a minority - celebrating defeat for their side?

  20. Man City celebrate crucial victorypublished at 07:44 British Summer Time 15 May

    Tottenham 0-2 Man City

Manchester City have already won seven Premier League titles, including the last three, but it certainly didn't look like their players and fans are bored of winning last night.

Erling Haaland tried to stay calm after converting his late penalty to make it 2-0 before showing what it meant to him by punching the air as his team-mates celebrated around him.

The away section was also jubilant and the City fans did their trademark celebration, the Poznan.
