    McIlroy -9, Connors -8 (10)

    Trish Johnson
Eight-time member of the Team Europe Solheim Cup team on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

These are the things that shouldn’t be happening when you are in the form that McIlroy is in.

That’s not about Augusta, but it might be about being in a major.

  2. Pars to end first ninepublished at 21:49 British Summer Time 12 April

    Rose -7, DeChambeau -8 (9)

Justin Rose thunders his birdie putt from 40 feet that hammers into the back of the cup but pops up as there's too much heat on the ball and just settles next to the hole.

It's a par for a first nine of one over, while Bryson DeChambeau knocks in a nervy short one down the hill for a one-under 35 for his first nine holes of the day.

    What a strange sport.

A five-shot swing in this duo over the past three holes.

  4. Bogey for McIlroy, birdie for Connerspublished at 21:48 British Summer Time 12 April

    McIlroy -9, Conners -8 (10)

Hmm that was a bit too hasty from Rory McIlroy with his long putt there and it travels six feet beyond the 10th hole.

    And he misses coming back.

Winning the Masters is never smooth - and two bogeys in three holes is a reminder of just how difficult this tournament can be.

A birdie for Corey Conners closes him to within one shot of McIlroy.

  5. Postpublished at 21:43 British Summer Time 12 April

    McIlroy -10, Conners -7 (9)

Rory McIlroy is chattering furiously as he strolls down the 10th fairway towards the green.

He's just gone a little long with his approach there - after watching Corey Conners dink it in close.

Maybe a little reset required just to keep the wheels turning.

  6. Almost Shanepublished at 21:42 British Summer Time 12 April

    McCarty -5 Lowry -6 (10)

Shane Lowry has his hands on his head after almost canning a whopper of a putt from close to 30 feet on the 10th for birdie. A par will do.

Matt McCarty knows all about pars - he's got 10 of them in a row today now.

JavelBleach: Rose has shipped 5 shots to McIlroy from leader to 3 shots behind over 9 holes. So Rory can take *nothing* for granted at just 2 ahead with another 27 holes to play still!!

Eamonn: There's little better in sport than watching Rory (McIlroy) on a roll!

Paolo: Thrilling front nine on Moving Day at the Masters. Great Saturday night entertainment

  8. Hovland drops backpublished at 21:40 British Summer Time 12 April

    Hovland -5 (10)

What happened to Viktor Hovland on the 10th? We can hear your thoughts.

Well, the Norwegian might have looked like one of us as he chopped about in the trees, but he showed his superior quality to escape with a bogey five - a monster 35-foot putt sees to that.

It would have been a snowman on our cards...

No matter what, we'll be here for it.

    It's a Boyzone reference...

  10. Huge support for Rorypublished at 21:36 British Summer Time 12 April

    McIlroy -10 (9)

    Stephen Watson
BBC Sport Northern Ireland at Augusta National

The support Rory McIlroy has on the course is incredible. I spotted two former Irish boyband members, Brian McFadden from Westlife and Keith Duffy from Boyzone, among the huge galleries watching him on the first nine.

Brian and Keith are now a duo called Boyzlife.

Hard to find anyone who doesn’t want Rory to win this!

According to our man on the ground, there are plenty of those at Augusta National...

A reminder of this for those who are cheering for Rory McIlroy.

  13. Fine par putt from Schefflerpublished at 21:35 British Summer Time 12 April

    Scheffler -5, Hatton -4 (10)

Just when you think Scottie Scheffler is all at sea, he finds the perfect time to land a deep putt.

Way out of position and staring a bogey in the face, he drains it and gives a little fist pump to caddie Ted Scott.

  14. Birdies at eightpublished at 21:35 British Summer Time 12 April

    Rose -7, DeChambeau -8 (8)

Byrson DeChambeau's eagle attempt is pretty weak to be honest, but it's good enough for a birdie, which is also waht Justin Rose cards on the eighth after playing a nice pitch shot up the green with his third.

That's a nice boost for both of them as they head to the turn.

  15. Postpublished at 21:33 British Summer Time 12 April

    McIlroy -10, Conners -7 (9)

It's been a couple of frustrating holes for Rory McIlroy, but keep some perspective.

He has shot -10 for his past 18 holes.

That would be a 62 if it was a full round - or a course record.

And the back nine was where he came alive yesterday.

  16. McIlroy misses birdie puttpublished at 21:32 British Summer Time 12 April

    McIlroy -10, Conners -7 (9)

    Oh no!

Rory McIlroy has missed that birdie putt.

That was a downhill putt and he'll just take a moment to collect his thoughts.

Putting through the shadows he tidies up. Keeps his composure.

A fine putt in there for Corey Conners moves him up to a share of second.

  17. Great shot!published at 21:32 British Summer Time 12 April

    Rose -6, DeChambeau -7 (7)

Bryson DeChambeau swings for the fence on eight, a heaves a fairway wood up the hill and over some trees and pin high, leaving himself a decent eagle opportunity.

  18. Bogey for Lowrypublished at 21:31 British Summer Time 12 April

    McCarty -5 Lowry -6 (9)

    Shane LowryImage source, Getty Images

Disappointing bogey for Shane Lowry to finish off his first nine, as he reaches the turn one under for today and six under for the tournament.

And how about a word for Matt McCarty, who has carded nine straight pars today and is halfway to a doing a Faldo (Google it if you're too young to remember).

  19. Postpublished at 21:30 British Summer Time 12 April

    McIlroy -10, Conners -6 (8)

Way to dust off that bogey, Rory McIlroy.

A thumping drive sets up a sand wedge into the ninth green and he's played a pearl to five feet.

Knock that in for a perfect response.

  20. Postpublished at 21:29 British Summer Time 12 April

    Scheffler -5, Hatton -4 (9)

Look of utter bemusement on Scottie Scheffler who just misses the green from a perfect lie down the middle of the 10th fairway.

This is how the rest of the world usually sees golf Scottie!
