    Rose -6, DeChambeau -7 (7)

This final pairing have just been a bit scrappy over the last few holes - well, Bryson DeChambeau made a nice start but Justin Rose has not had his best stuff all day so far.

They both take the opportunity to open their shoulders and launch drivers off the eighth tee in search of a birdie at the par five.

We've seen Rory McIlroy bounce back already this Masters.

Two double bogeys in the final four holes of his first round had some writing him off.

Thirty-six holes later, he's leading by three.

So that bogey is not one to get too worried about just yet.

  3. Hovland hacking in the treespublished at 21:22 British Summer Time 12 April

    Hovland -6 (9)

Where's Viktor Hovland? He's in the trees on the left of the 10th hole. Not that can we see him.

We can only hear the European Ryder Cup star rustling around in the branches. Then he chunks more soil than ball. "Oh my God," he spits.

That is not good news for him. But it makes us amateur golfers snigger. He's one of us.

Let's hope Rory McIlroy doesn't treat it like a triple bogey, Andrew!

A bogey would really derail and you don’t want want to go backwards at all when you’re on a tear like this.

It would just feel like a triple bogey if [McIlroy] makes a single bogey.

  6. McIlroy drops a shotpublished at 21:20 British Summer Time 12 April

    Augusta is fighting back.

It was a crazy start from these players but reality has set in a touch - even for Rory McIlroy as he misses from eight feet.

It's still a three-shot lead though - and Corey Conners gets himself back to level for his day with a birdie.

  7. Bogeys all roundpublished at 21:18 British Summer Time 12 April

    Rose -6, DeChambeau -7 (7)

Justin Rose looks to have played a nice bunker shot onto the seventh green, but it trickles just a foot too far and then rolls off all the way down the slope, leaving him miles for par. He doesn't make the miracle par save so it's another shot gone for the overnight leader.

Bryson DeChambeau knocks his chip a lot closer, but he also can't make it and he too drops a shot back.

  8. Postpublished at 21:18 British Summer Time 12 April

    McIlroy -11, Conners -6 (7)

This one is a a touch tentative from Rory McIlroy off the back of the green but perhaps he wants to avoid his ball running away.

It'll be another of those testing par putts.

  9. Scheffler turns at level par for his roundpublished at 21:17 British Summer Time 12 April

    Scheffler -5, Hatton -4 (9)

Scottie Scheffler definitely doesn't seem himself yet today and there's a grimace on his face as he contemplates where that birdie putt has ended up on nine.

He'll take the par but a level par first nine isn't quite what the world number one ordered today.

  10. Postpublished at 21:14 British Summer Time 12 April

    McIlroy -11, Conners -5 (7)

It's a giant fairway bunker down the eighth and Rory McIlroy's ball is near the front.

Indeed, he clips the top of it as he tries to escape, leaving him with a long third shot into this eighth green.

He tries to draw it but gets it wrong and the ball sails back left of the putting surface.

Going to be another taxing up and down.

  11. Par for Lowrypublished at 21:13 British Summer Time 12 April

    McCarty -5 Lowry -7 (8)

Shane Lowry doesn't manage to convert from 12 feet so has to settle for his par on the eighth. It's a case of catching your breath after climbing up that massive hill on the par five and then off to the last hole of the first nine.

  12. Postpublished at 21:11 British Summer Time 12 April

    Rose -7, DeChambeau -8 (6)

Bryson DeChambeau booms his drive down to the right of the seventh, Justin Rose goes way left! Both end up short with their approach shots so we'll have a short game clinic coming up.

  13. Postpublished at 21:08 British Summer Time 12 April

    McCarty -5 Lowry -7 (7)

The eighth really is a beefy par five up that hill, but Shane Lowry does have a birdie try coming up after two big hits and then a piitch shot on to about 15 feet.

  14. The psychology behind McIlroy's Masters bidpublished at 21:05 British Summer Time 12 April

    Jonathan Jurejko
    BBC Sport senior golf reporter

The leading Masters contenders understand the deep value of controlling the mind.

That has been a key part of Rory McIlroy's work this week as he tries to finally land the Green Jacket on his 17th appearance.

Consulting renowned sports psychologist Bob Rotella is helping provide perceptive and patience.

Before this rapid start, McIlroy talked about "letting the score come" to him and not trying to "force the issue" too much.

The birdies (and eagle) are sprinting towards him at the moment...

    McIlroy -11, Conners -5 (7)

I mentioned fairway bunkers, par fives and Rory McIlroy in the same sentence earlier.

That is where his drive on eight is heading.

He got out of there with par yesterday.

Well, the run of threes is over for Rory McIlroy but that four is timely enough as he tucks home for par.

It is indeed a par for Scottie Scheffler.

Rueful smile from the world number one.

Just like McIlroy did earlier, both Bryson DeChambeau and Justin Rose hammer their long putts up the sixth green well beyond the hole - maybe it's not as slow as they all think it is.

Rose manages to roll his in from 10 feet away and gives a little fist pump at saving his par, maybe that can be the catalyst for him to start moving in the right direction.

DeChambeau follows him in to make his three and stay wel in touch - the American often plays like this, seemingly scrambling and looking in trouble but managing to move along and make a score.

Boy that seventh green looks rolling.

But Rory McIlroy has the skill to navigate the undulation and it's a sophisticated approach to tee him up for par.

Given that tee shot, having five feet to make a four is good going.

  20. Scheffler 'playing very poorly'published at 21:00 British Summer Time 12 April

Scheffler’s body language doesn’t look good, but he’s playing very poorly for Scottie Scheffler.

It’s only because he is so good that he is still in with a shout.
