    USA 10-6 Europe

Nelly Korda described this as "one of the top three shots" I've ever seen - and it was a total mis-hit from playing partner Allisen Corpuz in the foursomes earlier.

The US seemed to get quite a few breaks like this today!

    USA 10-6 Europe

Europe captain Suzann Pettersen has a steely glare in her eye as she gives her immediate reaction to a 10-6 deficit going into the final day.

"We've seen miracles before," she says. "Medinah. Germany 2015. We've given ourselves a chance. As long as there's hope, these girls will fight.

"10-6? It's absolutely doable. We just have to see if we can digest what happened today, recharge, wake up tomorow fresh and on any given day these girls can take each other down."

Charley Hull and Georgia Hall had lost their only previous fourballs match in the Solheim Cup to Stacy Lewis and Gerina Piller back in 2017.

Today was the 23rd time that a British pairing have appeared in the competition together but the first since Des Moines.

  7. 'We're going to get the girls ready' - Reidpublished at 23:43 British Summer Time 14 September

Assistant captain Mel Reid was talking at the end of the second day:

"Those last two matches were pivotal for us. We were talking as captains – we feel like we’ve not any momentum whatsoever.

"I feel that the Americans in foursomes and fourball have just been ham-and-egging it the whole time. They’ve been outplaying us to be honest,

"Those two points were needed but it’s a big deficit to do but its happened at Medina for the Ryder Cup boys and it happened in Germany for the USA Solheim girls as well.

"We can do it and we’re going to get the girls ready."

    Lydia Hall

    They have to believe.

They’ve got no other option. They have to go out and win at least eight of the 12 singles matches.

That’s the simplest message Suzann can give them tonight.

    That’s the bottom line

    Solheim Cup

Europe have been here before - but on the other side.

In 2015, with a certain Charley Hull, Anna Nordqvist, Carlota Ciganda and Suzann Pettersen in the side, Europe held a 10-6 lead going into the singles.

And they folded, with the US racing to a 14½-13½ victory.

Can lightning strike in the opposite direction?

    10-6? Just a flesh wound.

That'll be the message from Suzann Pettersen after they've drawn today 4-4.

Europe will need every ounce of inspiration - but can they do it?

For the final time today (until the first few posts tomorrow), hit the thumbs.

Will Europe get to 14 points and retain the Solheim Cup?

    Corpuz/Vu v Hall/Hull - Europe win 2UP

"Get in, get in!" are the shouts from the crowd but Allisen Corpuz is wide of the hole and the American duo concede to give Europe another point on the board.

Georgia Hall and Charley Hull give each other a hearty hug. It's been a long day for Hull in particular.

    Lydia Hall

The US pair will make the Europeans putt for the win. They'll want to make them earn it.

They will want to ruffle their feathers before the singles tomorrow.

    Corpuz/Vu v Hall/Hull 1UP (17)

Allisen Corpuz makes the green with a brilliant iron from the rough out wide, but the ball goes some 30 feet long while Lilia Vu ends up in the bunker.

Georgia Hall lands her approach shot about 10 feet from the pin, as does Charley Hull.

Europe should bank this hole, and the point, barring something extraordinary.

In case any of you are too young to remember the Miracle of Medinah, here's our report from 1 October 2012.

Who will be Europe's Ian Poulter tomorrow?

They'll need eight of them - but it's possible.

  17. 'Stay patient' - Pedersenpublished at 23:17 British Summer Time 14 September

    Ewing/Thompson v Ciganda/Pedersen - Europe win 2&1

Emily Pedersen looked disconsolate after missing a putt on the 14th green but a quiet word from captain Suzann Pettersen seemed to inspire her.

She hit a stunning putt at the 15th to seal that hole and then effectively clinched the point with a phenomenal approach shot at the 17th.

"Suzann just told us: "Keep two balls in play all the time and stay patient, you’re playing great', which we have [been]," Pedersen said. "We just haven’t been holing putts, I feel like for two days.

"We have played some good golf and if we kept plugging away, the putts were going to drop - and they did."

Emily Pedersen and Carlota Ciganda are not backing down from the Solheim Cup defence after winning Europe's first point of the afternoon.

First up, Ciganda said the blue team are still backing themselves tomorrow:

"I think we played amazing golf this morning and this afternoon," she said.

"Usually it’s really tough to play the Americans. They are playing some great golf and with the home crowds, it’s not easy.

"We just have to believe - we have a chance for sure.

"The Miracle of Medinah. It’s coming."

The face after Charley Hull unleashed that ferocious drive. You can see she is angry at herself - that she has to play another 15 minutes!

Hull has played in every match so far this weekend, including going down 18 in both sessions today.

"Shot Charley!" shouts a fan of European persuasion after Charley Hull hits a big and bold tee shot over the bunkers and on to the fairway at the 400-yard par four 18th.

It's further down the tracks than anything American duo Allisen Corpuz and Lilia Vu managed beforehand.
