Andrea Lee and Rose Zhang have been able to keep Celine Boutier and Linn Grant at arm's length in the second fourballs match.

Zhang points a finger in the air then gives a fist bump to her caddie after sinking a timely 12-foot putt for a birdie to in the par-five eighth.

Zhang and Lee have regained their two-hole cushion, taking the wind out of the sail of their European opponents.

    3UP Khang/Lee v Nordqvist/Sangstrom (9)

The tee is back on the 10th this afternoon so it's not driveable, but Madelene Sagstrom plays two shots nicely to get on the green about seven feet away.

But Alison Lee answers that with a spinning short iron that might just be a yard closer than the European.

    Zhang

“Guys, everyone by that tree needs to move right” says Rose Zhang’s caddie Olly Brett, with a distinctive English accent.

Zhang, who has gone well right off the eighth tee, almost onto the footpath steps up to her ball, then steps away sharing a little joke with the fans circling her.

Having settled again the American then lashes a superb shot through a couple of pines to a decent recovery spot up the left of the fairway, where most players have laid up anyway.

I’d have probably just taken my medicine there and flipped the ball back into play but these ladies make it look so easy!

  4. What have Europe got around the turn?published at 19:43 British Summer Time 14 September

    Iain Carter
    BBC golf correspondent in Virginia

Apart from that top match, it's really tight and we're now heading into that spell of the course where America have been really dominant, so what have Europe got around the turn?

Because that's where so many of these matches have swung in favour of the home team.

    Never in doubt.

A skip in the step of Carlota Ciganda as she wipes out the US lead in match three.

Not quite a leap for joy but a determined fist pump as she heads off to the eighth.

  7. USA turn in commanding leadpublished at 19:37 British Summer Time 14 September

    3UP Khang/Lee v Nordqvist/Sangstrom (9)

Alison Lee goes closest to making birdie on the par-three ninth, but a half is just fine for the American pair as they stride off the green still three in front.

It's a commanding advantage against this Swedish pair, and maybe Anna Nordqvist has just hit a bit of a wall after some fabulous play over the last couple of days.

    1UP Ewing/Thompson v Ciganda/Pedersen (6)

On Radio 5 Sports Extra, Lydia Hall's just described the divot created by Carlota Ciganda's second shot into the seventh green as "salmon-shaped".

Well, she'll be leaping like one in a moment if she can convert when she gets up there. That was a magnificent hit - and it'll be five feet for birdie.

  9. Grant shows determinationpublished at 19:28 British Summer Time 14 September

    1UP An Lee/Zhang v Boutier/Grant (7)

Gutsy from Linn Grant, who has not been at her best so far in the Solheim Cup, at the seventh as manages to slide in an awkward birdie putt.

"Come on!" Grant barks through gritted teeth. Determination is etched on her face.

However, American opponent Rose Zhang looks uber cool as she slots in for a birdie of her own to halve the hole and keep thei advantage.

It's nice to see Lexi Thompson holing a chip. In the past, we've seen her struggle with those.

That was really tough, half feet in bunker, half feet out, backwards stance but somehow she manages to get it out and rolling into the hole.

  11. Make that three...published at 19:23 British Summer Time 14 September

    3UP Khang/Lee v Nordqvist/Sangstrom (8)

Alison Lee gets in on the act again as she birdies the par-five eighth to put America three ahead in the top match and it's all going the home side's way at the moment.

  12. Stunning birdies at the sixthpublished at 19:22 British Summer Time 14 September

    1UP Ewing/Thompson v Ciganda/Pedersen (6)

    Oh yes, Carlota Ciganda!

Absolutely drained from distance and she's high-fiving the caddies and punching the air.

And then Lexi Thompson takes aim from off the grain with a chip and she's only gone and slotted it in.

    A lifesucker for the Europeans.

  13. Hull gets Europe back on the boardpublished at 19:19 British Summer Time 14 September

    Corpuz/Vu v Hall/Hull 1UP (5)

Hellllooo. Charley Hull's approach shot at the fifth lands nicely and spins back towards the hole.

She's well placed for a birdie putt and sinks it to heap the pressure on Lilia Vu.

The American feels the pressure and is unable to match it, which gets some blue back on the board again.

    1UP An Lee/Zhang v Boutier/Grant (6)

After a flying start by the USA it seems like a lot of the matches have toned down. The partisan home crowd certainly seem a little more sedate as the afternoon wears on.

A few half chances for birdies on the green at the sixth. Rose Zhang probably has the best of them but she is off target.

    2UP Khang/Lee v Nordqvist/Sangstrom (7)

Good dovetail again by the Americans at the par five, with Megan Khang just laying up to have good look in with a wedge for her third, enabling Alison Lee to have a crack at the green - which is a good one as she's right on line but just a touch short.

    1UP Ewing/Thompson v Ciganda/Pedersen (5)

The par-five fifth is an opportunity to cash in.

Carlota Ciganda has thundered her way down and left 12 feet for birdie. It's tentative though and the hole is halved.

As was the case yesterday, the slow play of Ciganda is seeing the fourball drop off schedule too - the group behind are having to wait.

  18. Postpublished at 19:02 British Summer Time 14 September

    Corpuz/Vu v Hall/Hull A/S (4)

A hopeful long birdie putt from Charley Hull stops up agonisingly short of the hole, but both Allisen Corpuz and Lilia Vu capitalise with a birdie themselves.

Nip and tuck in the final match of the fourballs so far.

  19. Khang doubles the leadpublished at 18:59 British Summer Time 14 September

    2UP Khang/Lee v Nordqvist/Sangstrom (7)

Megan Khang again is all smiles and fist pumps as she rolls in just a four-footer for the win to send the USA two ahead in this top match.

No signs of the Americans losing any pep in their step just yet.

  20. Boutier reduces deficitpublished at 18:50 British Summer Time 14 September

    1UP An Lee/Zhang v Boutier/Grant (5)

Celine Boutier claims one back for Europe after a careless blunder by Rose Zhang at the fifth.

Frenchwoman Boutier already has a birdie under her belt and watches on as Zhang misses a simple putt to halve the hole. A bit of complacency sneaking in for the USA, perhaps?
