Neither Georgia Hall nor Charley Hull are able to spark into life on the 430-yard par four third hole, but Lilia Vu has the chance to win the hole with a birdie.

The American neatly curls a putt up the hill to seal it. Europe's sole bit of blue on the board is wiped out.

    1UP Ewing/Thompson v Ciganda/Pedersen (4)

Two opportunities for the Americans to take advantage on the par-three fourth but neither Ally Ewing nor Lexi Thompson can convert.

The hole is halved and it remains one up to the US.

  3. Europe chance missedpublished at 18:41 British Summer Time 14 September

    1UP Khang/Lee v Nordqvist/Sangstrom (6)

Madelene Sagstrom has about 10 feet down the hill at six for the win but, guess what? She fails to make it count, and lets Megan Khang roll in a comfortable five-footer back up the slope for the half.

    US fans

Tara and Denise are from Phoenix, which is the best part of 2,300 miles from here or a 33-hour drive according to a map app I've just checked.

They are following the Corpuz/Vu v Hall/Hull match and as you've probably guessed they aren't rooting for the English duo.

"We've seen some great golf so far and we're looking forward to this afternoon," says Denise.

"The US side is looking so strong right now and you can see that on the scoreboard."

    1UP Khang/Lee v Nordqvist/Sangstrom (5)

This Swedish duo will be keen to silence their buoyant American opposition, and Madelene Sagstrom is trying to do just that here on the sixth as she drills an eight iron to about eight feet .

She's in pole position to take this one.

  6. Ciganda wins third hole for Europepublished at 18:31 British Summer Time 14 September

    1UP Ewing/Thompson v Ciganda/Pedersen (3)

Now then Carlota Ciganda - this is a huge moment as she stands over a birdie putt on three.

Confidently stroked in and there's a little ripple of applause as Europe trim the US lead to one.

Europe finally win a hole in this afternoon session to get something on the board after a flying start by the USA.

Pars all round on the green at the second before Georgia Hall comfortably rolls one in. Hopefully that is a sign of things to come from Hall after a modest day with the putter yesterday.

    1UP Khang/Lee v Nordqvist/Sangstrom (5)

Anna Nordqvist sinks the long birdie putt on the fifth - she's about the only European you'd trust on the greens this week - and forces Megan Khang to make her short one for the half, which she does.

    Corpuz/Vu v Hall/Hull A/S (1)

Charley Hull gets the power right with the putter, but her accuracy is just off as she misses a tough birdie on the first. Neither of the American duo are able to respond, though.

All square after the first hole in the final fourball match.

On Friday, we had former United States President Barack Obama down on the first tee, today there's we've gone from a statesman to move superstar with Jessica Alba.

The Hollywood actress, who played famously played Sue Storm in a couple of the Fantastic Four movies was chatting to players both from teams.

The European players could do with some superhero performances over the next few hours to put themselves in the mix for the singles.

There's a lot of noise following this first group - there's a lot of noise wherever Megan Khang goes, and she's getting a few more cheers here as she fires her third into the par-five fifth hole to only about five feet.

    2UP An Lee/Zhang v Boutier/Grant (3)

Celine Boutier and Linn Grant both bag par on the third, but Rose Zhang has a chance at a birdie.

Zhang can only skim the lip of the hole, though, and it is halved as the European duo put a thumb in the dyke.

  15. US press home advantagepublished at 18:13 British Summer Time 14 September

    2UP Ewing/Thompson v Ciganda/Pedersen (2)

Beautiful shot from Emily Pedersen sets up a terrific birdie chance at the second.

Before she gets to it though, Ally Ewing is over her putter and converting from 15 feet. Suddenly Pedersen has to hole to halve it.

Oh and she's missed it. All the momentum with USA at the moment.

US captain Stacy Lewis has been speaking on the first tee: "They’re having fun and they’re just going and playing golf. I am not surprised. I love the energy - and we had the energy in that comeback in the morning.

"They just need to keep the energy up. These are two very long days and I guess four are playing this afternoon that got to sleep in. We’re definitely going to use this home crowd."

I am excited that this [pairing of Georgia Hall and Charley Hull] is happening this afternoon and hopefully they can do what Megan and Nelly did yesterday, bring out the best in each other and actually have fun.

Last year in Spain I just thought Georgia and Charley looked that excited to be there.

Hopefully we can get some fireworks this afternoon.

Suddenly the US are up in all three matches.
