No room for error now for Suzann Pettersen and she's rolled out the indomitable Anna Nordqvist in the opening match this afternoon.

She has been majestic so far, and got a commanding fourball win yesterday alongside Madelene Sangstrom as well.

For the Americans, Megan Khang looked phenomenal with Nelly Korda on Friday. This could make for compelling viewing.

Right, the fourballs are just moments away. 'Hips Don't Lie' by Shakira is currently blaring away at the first tee.

The Europeans should get a psychological lift from Nelly Korda sitting this one out but quite a few players are going to need to step up to eat away at that four-point lead.

This was the scene at the back of the 18th tee a little while ago when the top two foursome matches came down to the final hole.

    Corpuz/Korda v Ciganda/Pedersen - USA win 1UP

Here's what world number one Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz had to say after coming from behind to win the first match in the foursomes:

"Nelly was playing really solid all day," said Corpez. "I hit a few squirrelly ones and she saved me there. I feel like every single time you play with Nelly, you think it's got to turn around at some point. Just be patient and keep playing the way they can."

Korda added: "It's great playing with Allisen, I have so much fun with her. She played great today and we make a really good team."

On Korda showing her emotions: "That's my alter ego Nori! I got announced at the opening ceremony as Nori so we have gone with it as a joke."

If Europe are looking for any consolation, at least world number one Nelly Korda is sitting out this afternoon's fourballs.

Captain Suzann Pettersen will hope salvaging a point at the 18th will fire up Charley Hull who she is rolling out again. It means the English golfer will be playing in every session.

    Vu/Schmelzel v Boutier/Nordqvist - Europe win 4&3

European pair Anna Nordqvist and Celine Boutier have been speaking after taking Europe's first point of the day, beating Lilia Vu and Sarah Schmelzel 4&3:

"I think we were very focused," said Boutier. "I knew what we had to do. I knew we were a solid pair and had to make some birdies. We played really solid and didn't leave many opportunities out there for them."

"I've never played with Celine before and I absolutely loved it," said Nordqvist. "It felt like a really needed point and it's nice to see some blue on the board. We just need to keep doing our best.

"I love this tournament more than anything. It's my ninth one so I'm probably closer to the end than the beginning. I'm just trying to just embrace every moment."

That's all the foursomes in. Honours even overall.

The Europeans got off to a flyer, but the Americans pegged them back on the back nine holes.

  9. Hull & Henseleit get on the boardpublished at 16:35 British Summer Time 14 September

    Ewing/Kupcho v Henseleit/Hull 1UP (F)

Jennifer Kupcho is unable to make amends for Ally Ewing's poor tee shot and with a gimmie putt for the Europeans the hole is conceded by the Americans.

A real battle for Charley Hull and Esther Henseleit on the back nine but they held their nerve at the end and got over the line.

Charley Hull with a big drive off the tee on the deciding 18th hole. The ball skips on down the fairway.

Esther Henseleit then produces a clutch iron shot to get on the green a matter of inches from the pin. A roar from their European team-mates on the final hole.

    Ewing/Kupcho v Henseleit/Hull A/S (17)

Charley Hull's ambitious putt for par from off the green for par whistles past the hole. With the Americans well placed for a birdie the hole is conceded by the Europeans.

Ally Ewing and Jennifer Kupcho have nagged away over the back nine and finally have their reward.

All square with one hole to play.

Lexi Thompson and Lauren CoughlinImage source, Getty Images

Team USA got their first point on the board today through Lauren Coughlin and Lexi Thompson, who have been speaking to Sky Sports:

"We just tried to go out, do our thing and have fun and we played some pretty great golf," said Coughlin.

Thompson said they were not affected by a great start for Europe across the foursomes.

"We saw a few of the leaderboards out there but we just tried to control what we could control with our game and our emotions," she said. "Swing freely and try to make each other comfortable."

    1UP Corpuz/Korda v Pedersen/Ciganda (17)

Carlota Ciganda fairway wood makes a fairly unpleasant noise out of the rough and although it makes the green it's way short.

Allisen Corpuz doesn't hit her approach properly but gets a bit lucky (not for the first time) as it settles at the back of the green and nearer the pin.

Looks like a full point coming for this USA pair.

  17. Hull opens the doorpublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 14 September

    Ewing/Kupcho v Henseleit/Hull 1UP (16)

Is the pressure is starting to tell on Charley Hull at the business end of the course?

Hull overhits her approach shot at the 17th into the penalty area, while American opponent Jennifer Kupcho lands hers firmly on the dancefloor.

    This could be pivotal.

  18. Europe secure point in final matchpublished at 16:13 British Summer Time 14 September

    Vu/Schmelzel v Boutier/Nordqvist - Europe win 4&3

A much-needed point for Europe as Lilia Vu's birdie putt on the 15th slinks right.

Anna Nordqvist and Celine Boutier put their foot down early and kept the US at arms' length throughout.

  19. Ewing's putter on firepublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 14 September

    Ewing/Kupcho v Henseleit/Hull 1UP (16)

Wowzers! Ally Ewing's putter is on fire.

She sizzles in another HUGE putt at the 16th for a birdie to heap the pressure on the European duo.

Thankfully, Charley Hull's superb tee shot on the par three has left Esther Henseleit with an infinitely makeable putt and the German keeps her cool to tap in and halve the hole.

With two holes left can Hull and Henseleit hang on to bank a point?

  20. USA go dormie in top match!published at 16:07 British Summer Time 14 September

    1UP Corpuz/Korda v Pedersen/Ciganda (17)

Carlota Ciganda races her lengthy birdie attempt way beyond the hole, and Emily Pedersen couldn't save par so the USA move one ahead with one to play.

That's a half point guaranteed for this unbeaten pairing and they just need to halve the 18th to grab the full point.
