  1. Divisional Round dramapublished at 03:22 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2021

What a Sunday of NFL action we had, as the Kansas City Chiefs kept their dreams of defending their Super Bowl title alive but only just - as they needed an unlikely hero in back-up quarterback Chad Henne to see-off a spirited Cleveland Browns.

The Chiefs were looking good until superstar Patrick Mahomes left the game with concussion, leaving 35-year-old back-up Henne to fend off a flying finish from Cleveland in a 22-17 success.

Kansas City will now host the AFC Championship for a third straight year - the first team ever to do so - as they host the Buffalo Bills next week. All eyes will be on Mahomes' fitness during this week's build-up.

Over in the NFC, Tom Brady marches on but it looks like Drew Brees will wave goodbye to the NFL after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the New Orleans Saints 30-20 to give Brady the chance to go and earn a shot at a seventh Super Bowl title.

Brady and Brees were overshadowed somewhat by their respective defences, and it was Brees who cracked under the pressure by throwing three interceptions as the Saints slumped again in the post-season.

For Brady, he now faces Aaron Rodgers in another superstar battle as the Buccaneers travel to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers for the NFC title.

  2. The final fourpublished at 03:15 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2021

And then there were four! After two weeks and ten games of nerve-jangling, bone-crushing play-off football, we're down to the Conference Championships to decide who will contest Super Bowl 55 in Tampa in February.

Will Tom Brady go for a seventh title and make history be leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a home Super Bowl? He first has to go to a freezing Lambeau Field and get through Aaron Rodgers and the top-seeded Green Bay Packers, who have looked the best team in these play-offs so far.

The champion Kansas City Chiefs are closing in on a title defence, but will they have Patrick Mahomes available as they host the AFC title contest for the third straight year? He could well be ruled out and give the Buffalo Bills the chance to return to the Super Bowl for the first time in 27 years.

Join us next Sunday for all the action as the Super Bowl match-up is decided.

    Conference Championship games

    • Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Green Bay Packers
    • Buffalo Bills @ Kansas City Chiefs

  3. The end for Brees?published at 03:03 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30-20 New Orleans Saints

It certainly looked as though Drew Brees was waving goodbye to the NFL at the end of the game, and the league could be losing three of its best ever QBs this off-season with both Ben Roethlisberger and Philip Rivers also possibly calling time on their careers after tough play-off losses.

  4. Brady - defence the keypublished at 03:00 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30-20 New Orleans Saints

Turnovers forced by Tampa Bay's defence was the key according to Tom Brady, who is no stranger to cold weather play-off games but after a move to Florida this year the trip to a freezing Green Bay next week to face Aaron Rodgers may be a slight shock.

"I think the defence was the key to the game, our defence got the turnovers we needed and it ended up being a great win for us. We had a bunch of turnovers last time and they did this time and that's usually the story of football games.

"We worked hard to get to this point, two play-off wins on the road is pretty sweet, and we've got to go beat a great football team who we know pretty well. Aaron's playing incredible and we're going to have to play well to beat him."

  5. Full-time - Brady's Bucs winpublished at 02:54 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30-20 New Orleans Saints

It was a tough grind throughout this game, but you just can't win play-off games if you commit turnovers and the Saints turned it over four times - the Bucs scored touchdowns off three of those and made the game safe with the fourth.

It was clinical if not flashy from Tom Brady, riding a strong running game and fierce defence into the NFC Championship game next week when they travel to Lambeau Field to face Aaron Rodgers' Green Bay Packers.

For Drew Brees, though, that could well be the last game of a fabulous career that will undoubtedly see him enter the Hall of Fame. And it's a pretty tough way to go out.

  6. Two-minute warningpublished at 02:49 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30-20 New Orleans Saints

Leonard Fournette, who is a strong play-off performer, gets the first down that ices this game as we take the two-minute warning with the Bucs leading by 10 and with the Saints fresh out of time outs.

Tom Brady is heading to his 14th Conference Championship game, and another mouth-watering clash with Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay.

  7. Turnover - Buccaneerspublished at 02:43 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30-20 New Orleans Saints

Make that four turnovers from the Saints! Mike Edwards gets the ball this time after the ball rebounds off the hands of Jared Cook when Drew Brees' pass was almost taken in front of the tight end.

The Bucs have converted all of the three previously takeaways into seven points.

  9. touchdown

Touchdown - Buccaneerspublished at 02:34 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30-20 New Orleans Saints

Tom Brady burrows over from close range - I did mention his expertise in the quarterback sneak and he's done it again! That's a seventh career post-season rushing touchdown for the great man.

He'd previously found Rob Gronkowski, finally for the big man's first reception of this post-season to set-up the touchdown. 17 straight points for Tampa Bay as turnovers kill the Saints again.

  10. Turnover - Buccaneerspublished at 02:31 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23-20 New Orleans Saints

Interception! Devin White spots Drew Brees throwing to Alvin Kamara, who sadly thinks that the ball will be delivered down field, and the Tampa Bay man can jump the route and collect another interception.

That's an interception and fumble recovery for White tonight and a third turnover for the Bucs - they've scored touchdowns off the first two.

  11. field goal

Field goal - Buccaneerspublished at 02:25 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23-20 New Orleans Saints

Ryan Succop boots a 36-yard field goal and it's the third lead change of the game with the Bucs going ahead again just inside the 10-minute mark.

  12. Postpublished at 02:24 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20-20 New Orleans Saints

Brady to Gronk is usually automatic but not this time as the throw is just out of reach of the big tight end who dives but can't quite gather the ball. Gronkowsi had a step on his defender there but that's the second time the throw just hasn't been good enough to give him a better chance of scoring.

  13. Postpublished at 02:20 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20-20 New Orleans Saints

Scotty Miller had some big games during the regular season, but this nice catch is his first target of the game and he takes it in for a big third-down conversion for 29 yards.

  14. Great play!published at 02:18 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20-20 New Orleans Saints

Great hands from Tyler Johnson to swivel and grab hold of a well-thrown ball from Brady. Not bad for a rookie, on his first target of the game, who only had 12 catches all season.

  15. Postpublished at 02:17 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20-20 New Orleans Saints

Bad break for the Bucs who not only see a big Ronald Jones run called back for a hold, but also could lose the running back as he lmps off the field with what could be a recurrence of his quad injury.

  16. End of the third quarterpublished at 02:12 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20-20 New Orleans Saints

It's going down to the wire as we expected with the two sides locked together going into the fourth quarter. It's all about nerve and not making any mistakes from here on in.

  17. Postpublished at 02:08 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20-20 New Orleans Saints

There's a dodgy call on the Tampa Bay defence on this drive for hands to the face, nowhere near as bad one Jared Cook got away with earlier in the game.

The Bucs defence stands firm though and the Saints have to punt it away.

  18. That's a recordpublished at 02:04 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20-20 New Orleans Saints

The Saints have done the business with the pass and the run this season, mainly downto Alvin Kamara being awesome at both! They've joined an elite squad here but could be in danger of failing where the other four succeeded.

Touchdown - Buccaneerspublished at 01:58 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20-20 New Orleans Saints

Leonard Fournette catches a pass from Tom Brady as the Bucs make the most of the turnover again, that's the second turnover they've turned into seven points today.

Brady's throw is a bit low but Fournette manages to scoop the ball up at the second attempt before diving over the line for a tied game.

That's the ninth straight game that Brady has thrown two touchdowns in.

  20. Turnover - Buccaneerspublished at 01:55 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 13-20 New Orleans Saints

This time the Bucs do get the turnover as they force a fumble from Jared Cook after he caught a pass from Brees. Winfield gets the punch in on the ball to dislodge it and Devin White picks up the loose ball and takes it down to the New Orleans 40.
