Much better from Cleveland, mixing up big runs and handy passes to get right down into the red zone and knocking on the door for a welcome touchdown.

Nick Chubb finally gets his legs moving as he breaks off a 23-yard run while carrying some Chiefs along for the ride. That one run gained more yardage than the Browns managed on the ground in the entire first half.

This is what Kansas City does on defence, this is Steve Spagnuolo’s magic, he's going to take something away from you, he's using Tyrann Mathieu as his chess piece and he's going to move him around so you never know what he's doing.

The Browns need to change up their play calling a little bit and get some pass completions going so they can open it up for the run game.

  4. Field goal missed - Chiefspublished at 21:51 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2021

Cleveland Browns 3-19 Kansas City Chiefs

Harrison Butker has had a few problems this season and he lets the Browns off the hook with a miss from 33 yards that hits the left upright. The dreaded doink!

What a start to the second half by the Chiefs' defence, and it came as Baker Mayfield looked to get the passing game working after the run game has failed to catch fire. They've averaged almost 150 yards per game rushing this season yet they've managed just 18 so far.

  6. Turnover - Chiefspublished at 21:47 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2021

Cleveland Browns 3-19 Kansas City Chiefs

Interception! Tyrann Mathieu picks off Baker Mayfield as Jarvis Landry rather sat and waited for that throw. Worst possible start to the second half for the Browns.

Plenty of talk on the hit from Daniel Sorensen and you'll hear plenty more about it after this game and beyond with it being such a crucial moment in this game.

That and Patrick Mahomes' toe are the big talking points at half-time as the Chiefs look like having a comfortable lead - and Mahomes does have an outstanding 33-1 record when the Chiefs lead at the break.

Let us know your thoughts on that first half, and the second, using #bbcnfl on Twitter.

I'll tell you right now, both of those quarterbacks feel pretty good about what they can do. Right now the Kansas City Chiefs' offence looks unstoppable, Patrick Mahomes can sit back there and do exactly what he wants to do.

I’m worried about the toe a little bit but he can get the ball away quickly before it causes any problems.

Cleveland needs to stop making these mistakes, stop the turnovers and stop the penalties. If they can score straight after the half then they’ll feel like they can get back into the game. It’s going to be hard but it’s not like they’re getting totally outplayed.

  9. Half-timepublished at 21:32 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2021

Cleveland Browns 3-19 Kansas City Chiefs

And that's half time. A one-yard rushing touchdown for Patrick Mahomes, followed by a pass to Travis Kelce, who dashed home for a 20-yard score and the reigning Super Bowl champions are looking strong in this one.

The Browns may live to regret that Rashard Higgins fumble as he dived for the line.

At the break, it's Cleveland Browns 3-19 Kansas City Chiefs.

  10. field goal

Field goal - Chiefspublished at 21:30 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2021

A 28-yard field goal from Harrison Butker in the dying seconds of the first half gives the Chiefs a 19-3 advantage.

That play could just change the entire game, if the Browns score a touchdown then they get the ball back in the second half and they’re in prime position to take this game over.

That’s why we say great teams don’t beat themselves, they don’t make mistakes that can cost them the game and that’s exactly what the Cleveland Browns have just done. The receiver shouldn’t be so greedy there.

I’m OK with the call, we understand the rule, if you fumble into the endzone the offence know it’s a touchback, you have to break the imaginary line to score, we are all aware of that.

Andrew Priestley: A game-defining moment. Just like Dez Bryant vs the Packers in the playoffs all those years ago, the WR’s attempt to stretch for the end zone and the TD has cost his team possession of the ball, never mind the 7 points.

Harrison Short: Surely illegal use of the helmet from Daniel Sorensen there? Very harsh on Cleveland there after they were starting to tick.

  13. Postpublished at 21:25 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2021

Cleveland Browns 3-16 Kansas City Chiefs

Cleveland could have been facing a half-time deficit of only six points, now after that Higgins fumble it is still 13 points and the Chiefs have a minute to stretch that further.

  14. Postpublished at 21:23 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2021

Rashard Higgins grabbed hold of that last one, but then luck is not on his side seconds later.

He collects a 25-yard pass from Baker Mayfield and dives for glory, but the Chiefs' Daniel Sorensen dives into him and Higgins fumbles the ball over the line.

Browns thought they were about to get their first touchdown of the game, now they've lost possession.

A heart-breaking turnover for Browns fans and that could be a big moment in this match.

I like the play calls when they're in a spread formation for the Cleveland Browns. Baker Mayfield can do a lot of damage in a spread formation, just like he did in college. He can see across the field at what he's got and where he's got the advantage and make the most of it.

  16. Postpublished at 21:19 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2021

Baker Mayfield is getting the arm going now as the Browns creep into field goal territory. A 26-yard pass moments ago, followed by a 24-yard completed pass to Rashard Higgins.

  17. Postpublished at 21:16 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2021

Can the Browns end the half on a high?

They still have hope as Baker Mayfield launches it for a 26-yard pass, which is caught by the leaping David Njoku and that's a first down at the Cleveland 46-yard line. Still a long way to go, though and there's the two-minute warning.

That toe problem is clearly becoming more of an issue for Patrick Mahomes. He is getting some more medical attention with three minutes of the first half still left.

The Chiefs will be hoping to get a big enough lead when they can take Mahomes out of action and give him a rest.

Remember, the winner of this one plays against the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship game next Sunday.

  19. field goal

Field goal - Harrison Butker (Chiefs)published at 21:07 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2021

Cleveland Browns 3-16 Kansas City Chiefs

Cleveland do well to stop the Chiefs getting their third touchdown of the day, but the hosts are still in range for three more points.

An excellent 50-yard field goal from Harrison Butker is good and that gives the Chiefs a 13-point advantage.

Mahomes can't put weight on that front foot and that throws off his rhythm and accuracy.
