The Cleveland Browns have had a fantastic season, the best they have had in a very, very long time. Unfortunately for them they are going up against the best team in football, the Kansas City Chiefs. I think the Chiefs are going to have a very big victory coming off their two bye weeks.

  2. The Scot hoping to cause a shockpublished at 20:02 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2021

Cleveland Browns @ Kansas City Chiefs (20:05 GMT)

The Cleveland Browns will need to prove plenty of people wrong to keep their NFL season alive beyond this weekend, but for Scottish punter Jamie Gillan that is nothing new.

The 23-year-old ‘Scottish Hammer’ grew up playing rugby as a fly-half before his family moved to the United States in 2013. He played college football at Arkansas-Pine Bluff and was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Browns in 2019.

“We know this is a huge game, but you don’t make this game any bigger than any other,” he said.

“You go into every game, every snap, every throw like it’s your last because you never know. We’ll just keep going, not overthink it and stay ice cold. Treat it like every game you’ve played.

“I love proving people wrong. When people say you’re not going to do something, I think, ‘Right bro, hold my beer’. You get some inner drive from that.”

Support is also coming from back home where Gillan’s exploits have turned a whole new group on to the game.

“All my mates are getting into football. My gran and grandad have been watching from Dunbar. Usually it’s tea and biscuits at 7 and in bed by 7.30 but last week grandad said he heard my gran turning on the TV at one in the morning to watch because she couldn’t sleep.”

  3. Will Chiefs need a comeback?published at 19:59 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2021

Cleveland Browns @ Kansas City Chiefs (20:05 GMT)

The Kansas City Chiefs are eight-point favourites against the Cleveland Browns tonight, which seems fair enough, but the game may not go so smoothly going on recent history.

Patrick Mahomes had to engineer comebacks in all three play-off games last season, including the Super Bowl of course, and last week the Browns came flying out of the traps against the Pittsburgh Steelers to effectively put the game to bed early.

Last season's Divisional Round clash at Arrowhead Stadium saw the Houston Texans go 24-0 up before being blown away by Mahomes and company.

Don't be surprised if we see something similar tonight.

  5. Is Brady the GOAT?published at 19:51 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2021

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New Orleans Saints (23:40 GMT)

Some say that Tom Brady gets too much credit in the media, but how can you not laud a six-time Super Bowl champion who is still breaking records, with a new team, well into his 40s?

He's the oldest play to win a Super Bowl, the oldest player to throw a play-off touchdown pass and led arguably the most dominant team we've seen in the league for two decades of success.

Brady is also 13-2 in the Divisional Round so will be tough to beat tonight.

Brady has the records, and more importantly the rings, to have every right to be classed as the greatest of all time.

  6. Sunday's NFL actionpublished at 19:49 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2021

The final four will be completed tonight in the NFL, as the champs enter the fight and two legends go head-to-head to face another legend for the place in the Super Bowl.

Tom Brady and Drew Brees are both in their 40s but will fight it out in the play-offs for the first time tonight as the Saints entertain the Bucs. As if it couldn't get any better - Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers face the winners.

First up though, the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs make their play-off bow against the surprising Cleveland Browns. Patrick Mahomes hasn't played for three weeks, will he be well rested or rusty?
