It has not been a good for the Republic of Ireland at Euro 2016 as they were turned over by Belgium 3-0 in the latest group match.

Everton's Romelu Lukaku scored twice, to leave the Republic needing to beat Italy in their last group match to have any chance of making the last 16.

The games come thick and fast at the Euros and the next one starts shortly as Iceland take on Hungary. Follow all the action with our live text here.

  3. Brits fighting to make the cutpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 18 June 2016

The projected cut currently sits at six over with a host of Brits battling to make the second half of the tournament.

Chris Wood will be sitting nervously in the clubhouse after a par round of 70 leaves him on five over.

Paul Casey (sporting some stylish sunglasses) and Matt Fitzpatrick are currently six over, midway through their second rounds and just within the cut off, while Jamie Donaldson is two shots further adrift on eight over having finished his second consecutive round of 74.

The cut will see the top 60 players (and ties) advance to the last two rounds, with everyone else having to watch on from the sidelines.

  4. Reality bites hard for Westwoodpublished at 16:42 British Summer Time 18 June 2016

It has all gone wrong for Lee Westwood. Just over an hour ago he was five under, out in front, and dreaming of glory.

But reality has hit hard. A stinking run of five bogeys in six holes, the latest of which coming at the 11th, has taken a sledgehammer to his hopes of winning this.

He is now level par for the tournament, but three over for today.

  5. Bourdy moves out in frontpublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 18 June 2016

We have a new leader. France's Gregory Bourdy, ranked 126th in the world, is in front.

He turned professional in 2003 and, although he has four European Tour victories to his name, this may well be the best day of his career.

He is carving up this extremely tough Oakmont course. In his last 10 holes, he is seven under, with his latest birdie an eight-footer on the 14th.

He is six under for today's round, five under overall, and on course for the lowest total of the tournament so far.

  6. Mixed fortunes for Westwood and Bourdypublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 18 June 2016

What a difference an hour makes. Lee Westwood was out in front on his own at 3.30 BST, but is now back in tied fifth.

He has now dropped four shots in his last five holes. Is this the phase of play that will be prove devastating to his hopes of winning his first major?

Elsewhere, France's Gregory Bourdy now has what Westwood had, a share of the lead, after another birdie, this time on the 13th. His current form - six under through the last nine. Stunning.

  7. Rose and Donald strugglingpublished at 16:28 British Summer Time 18 June 2016

It may be sunny out there but there are a fair few Brits still struggling around Oakmont today.

2013 champion Justin Rose is +8 after his second round of 76 which included nine bogeys.

Even worse off is former world number one Luke Donald who is nine over through nine holes of his second round.

  8. First error from Watsonpublished at 16:23 British Summer Time 18 June 2016

Obviously, I have just cursed Bubba Watson as he has just dropped his first shot of the day on the par four second.

He was 20 feet away and just gives it a gentle prod as it storms downhill, picking up pace. But it just drifts off and he will be back to level par.

  9. Consistent from Watsonpublished at 16:20 British Summer Time 18 June 2016

We have not mentioned Bubba Watson yet today, so time to correct that.

He had a quiet day yesterday as he took his son - and Jason Day's son - to the cinema, while world number one Day was playing both his first two rounds, picking up an overall score of five over in the process.

Well, Watson has been super consistent so far today. Ten holes, ten pars, and on one under overall.

  10. Bogey - Worrying for Westwoodpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 18 June 2016

Gregory Bourdy has stormed from nowhere to move second, and he has just missed a birdie chance on the par five 12th which would have given him a share of the lead for the first time this weekend.

Bourdy is, however, in second place on his own as Lee Westwood has dropped his third shot in four holes with another bogey - this time on the ninth. Worrying times for the Englishman.

  11. State of the playpublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 18 June 2016

Just a reminder, that we are still playing catch up after the storms on Thursday decimated the opening day's play.

The third round is expected to start later today with the players playing in threeballs off a two-tee start.

However, not all third rounds will be able to be completed today, so a few unfortunate ones will have to finish their third round and play their final rounds all on the same day tomorrow.

The organisers are still hoping that play will finish on Sunday night as scheduled.

  13. Birdie - Vital birdie for Landrypublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 18 June 2016

Andrew Landry looked like falling away from contention after a run of dropping four shots in three holes between the sixth and eighth.

Well, maybe I wrote him off too quickly as the American, a shock leader at the end of play on the first two days, has just birdied the 13th to move back inside the top 10 on one under overall.

  16. Westwood stabilises after two bogeyspublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 18 June 2016

After two bogeys to firstly lose the overall lead, and then lose a share of the lead, Lee Westwood has stabilised with a much-needed par at the eighth. He had been in the bunker earlier in the hole, but a good up and down saves his skin.

  17. Eagle - Bourdy sprints up to tied secondpublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 18 June 2016

From nowhere, France's Gregory Bourdy has sprinted up the leaderboard to move into joint second - level with Lee Westwood.

Bourdy was one over after round one and drifted out to two over with a bogey on the first hole of round two. But then he has a hot streak. An incredible hot streak. Birdies at the fifth, sixth ninth and a spectacular eagle at the 11th take him only one shot off the lead.

  18. Westwood finds the sand after losing leadpublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 18 June 2016

Over to the eighth and England's Lee Westwood has plonked his tee shot into the middle of a huge bunker. But it is a safe up and down to keep him hoping to make par.

He is trying to avoid his second bogey in a row after a dropped shot on the seventh saw him lose a share of the lead.

  19. Birdie - What a day for McIlroypublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 18 June 2016

This is a charge up the leaderboard from Rory McIlroy. He started the day aiming just to stay in the tournament. But now he is in great form and has just picked up his fourth birdie in seven holes.

The best round from anyone so far at Oakmont is the five under 65 from Daniel Summerhays and Louis Oosthuizen, well McIlroy is on course to beat that total.

The memory of that seven-over-par round of 77 on Thursday is fading fast. McIlroy four under through seven and on a much more respectable three over. He is now just outside the top 30.
