Some big news from the USGA. And the players will be returning to Oakmont for the US Open in eight years time.
American Andrew Landry, who dropped four shots in three holes before recovering to end on three under in second place has just been talking to Sky Sports.
He said: "I just really fought really hard. I had a struggle there and I just told myself on nine that I needed to make as many pars as I could, and that is what I did from nine.
"The nerves weren't that bad, but eating has been a bit of a struggle for me. When you have so much time off you just want to get out on the course and I just wanted to get out there and play.
"The nerves are there for everybody and if you're not nervous there is probably something wrong. You don't have to make a bunch of putts out here, if you get in the right position off the tee it makes your life so much easier. It is about time that I am up there near the top."
-4 Dustin Johnson (US)
-3 Andrew Landry (US)
-2 Scott Piercy (US), Sergio Garcia (Esp), Gregory Bourdy (Fra)
-1 Daniel Summerhays (US), Andy Sullivan (Eng), Jim Furyk (US), Zach Johnson (US) (14), Shane Lowry (Ire) (13*)
Numbers in brackets signify how many holes they have played in their second round. No numbers mean the players have already completed their second round.
Gregory Bourdy has had a great day. He has come from nowhere to move close to the top of the leaderboard. But he may well regret the last hole of his second round for ever.
He had a share of the lead up to that hole, but a double bogey, including a missed putt from nine feet, sees him end his round with a three under 67.
Not only has he lost the lead, he is now down in tied third.
Dustin Johnson had a share of the lead at the start of the day. Without playing, he now has an outright lead.
England's Scott Gregory beats Scotland's Robert MacIntyre 2&1 in the Final of The 121st Amateur Championship at Royal Porthcawl. Well done Scott. Hopefully see you at the US Open sometime soon.
Worrying times and then sensational from Rory McIlroy. He finds his ball plugged in the sand and his attempt to get out of trouble is not too successful, with the ball resting on a bank in some rough.
However, you never write off McIlroy. Never. He dinks his shot out of the rough, the ball rolls down the hill and straight into the hole. It saves par on the fifth, but it could also save his hopes of making the cut.
Something to remember for later.

So it's been a mixed day for the British contingent.
Andy Sullivan and Lee Slattery have both shot -2, with Sullivan currently the best British player, in tied sixth on one under, with Slattery one shot further back in tied ninth.
On the flip side, unfortunately Lee Westwood, a one-time leader, has had six bogeys in his last eight holes and is currently +4 for the day and +1 overall.
Rory McIlroy also has had a mixed bag today, with four early birdies before a double bogey currently has him on +5 for the tournament.
Don't even ask about former US Open champion Justin Rose. He finished +6 for the day, +8 overall.
But who do you think will be the best British player come Sunday evening and do you think any of them can actually win it?

A chance to go back in front for Gregory Bourdy. And it can not get any closer on the 17th. It looks good all the way, it looks perfect, but it clatters into the left edge of the hole, wobbles and stays on the green.
Agonising for the Frenchman. He still has a share of the lead, but he was so nearly a solo frontrunner.
It is a six-shot swing in only nine holes for Lee Westwood. He will remember those heady days when he was out on his own in front on five under.
Fast forward two hours and now he is on one over after bogeys at six, seven, nine, 10, 11 and now 14.
Four holes left in this round for the Englishman. Can he recover or will his round get even worse?

Good spot Richard!

OK, who saw this coming? Andrew Landry seemed to be heading in only one way this tournament - down.
But nope. Despite dropping four shots in three holes, he recovered beautifully with three birdies in his last six holes, including both of the last two to sign for a one over 71.
That means he is on three under overall and sits in third, one stroke adrift of joint leaders Dustin Johnson and Gregory Bourdy.
The hot streak for Gregory Bourdy is over. After being seven under through 10, he has now bogeyed the 16th to lose his outright lead.
But he does par the hole, to bring him back as joint leader along with Dustin Johnson, who is not out on the course at the moment.
A double bogey for Bubba Watson, and now a double bogey for Rory McIlroy. And what looked like a good round has suddenly turned very quickly.
And now once again McIlroy is fearing for his future in the tournament after three missed putts on the 432-yard par four third.
As we have said, the top 60 and ties go on, the rest go home. For what it is worth, McIlroy, the 2011 champion, is now tied 48th on five over, with six holes still to play.
We talked about the 12th being one to forget for Bubba Watson. It certainly is. He rolls an attempted putt six feet past the hole and his pain finally ends with a double bogey seven on the par five hole. One to forget. And quickly.
Watson was inside the top 10, now he is down to tied 20th. All because of one horror hole.
American Andrew Landry has shown good character over the last hour. The surprise leader at the end of Thursday's and Friday's play dropped four shots in three holes earlier on today.
It looked like he would just fade away out of any contention, but he has responded strongly with birdies at the 13th and now again at the 17th to return to two under, and tied third. Well played, sir. Let's not forget, he is ranked 624th in the world rankings.
I dare say he will be nowhere near as low next week.
The 12th is a hole to forget for Bubba Watson. On the par five, his third shot is in the rough to the back of the green. He chips it from one bit of rough, to another bit of rough, still off the green.
He then overcooks his next attempt and lofts it to the opposite side of the green. A lot of work for him to still do on this one - and a damage limitation exercise.

David Penn: Westwood: smashing fella, great Ryder Cup player; excellent golfer but I said in 2002 he won't win a major as lacks killer instinct.
There are not many major trophies in the cabinet of the players at the top of the leaderboard and Oakmont is spitting out plenty of major winners.
Phil Mickelson is seven over after his second round, two shots ahead of 2011 PGA champion Keegan Bradley.
South African duo Ernie Els and Retief Goosen may have six major wins between them but they're ten over after their two rounds and there will be no repeat of Webb Simpson's 2012 US Open success as he's a sorry 11 shots over par.
It has been a great day for Rory McIlroy, with four birdies and no bogeys to ease his fears of missing the cut.
A great day could have become even better as he has just wasted an opportunity for his fifth birdie of the day. He swings a 12-footer just past the second hole, with the ball ending up four feet away from the hole.
That is now four successive pars for the Northern Irishman after four birdies in the first seven holes of the day.
