  1. The Happening at Hazeltine?published at 00:34 British Summer Time 2 October 2016

Well, we had the Miracle of Medinah in 2012, what odds the Happening at Hazeltine? Probably quite long, whatever way Europe captain Darren Clarke chooses to jumble his order in the singles. Great day of golf today, but despite stellar showings from McIlroy and Pieters of Europe, it was American Patrick Reed who stole the show. There are highlights of the day's play on now on this very website (until 02:00 BST), or BBC 2 if you prefer. Good day to you.

  2. Focusing on 2014...published at 00:28 British Summer Time 2 October 2016

  3. I feel ashamed for my girlfriend - Garciapublished at 00:28 British Summer Time 2 October 2016

Sergio Garcia talking to BBC Radio 5 live: "I missed so many putts, I felt we both played great. They played nicely but didn't win it, we gave it away a little bit. You have to take those opportunities when you get them in matchplay at the Ryder Cup

On the atmosphere: "It has been quite poor. 85% of people are great. I love playing in America and my girlfriend is American, but the 15% that is really bad makes them look bad, and I feel ashamed for my girlfriend. But it is what it is."

  4. 'Tiger said no'published at 00:27 British Summer Time 2 October 2016

US captain Davis Love sums up how tense the finale was on Sky Sports: "I couldn't decide if I was hungry or getting sick to my stomach. Our guys played great. Europe did great but we were better than they were this morning.

"Everybody has gone out and played, most of the guys have got a point. We are ahead and that's what we wanted to do. We are in a good position and the guys are really pulling together well. It's hard to rest guys who win matches but they have done a great job and shown great attitude. Our guys are bonded together. We always get criticised that we don't get bonded. But this time we took it personally. We have to be focused for one more day.

"I kept wanting to take Jordan and Patrick out to rest. But Tiger has been watching them and he said 'no, no, no, don't take my guys out'. It worked and I'm going to put them to bed early."

  5. 'It's been done from a worse position'published at 00:22 British Summer Time 2 October 2016

    US 9½-6½ Europe

Europe captain Darren Clarke on Sky Sports: "Disappointed with this afternoon's result. Hung in this morning and had a few chances this afternoon but that's the nature of the Ryder Cup.

"We're going to have to work hard tomorrow. It's been done before from a worse position. We need to believe in ourselves. There is a precedent.

"This morning we holed the putts, this afternoon the US holed the putts.

Patrick Reed talking to Sky Sports: "We had a huge lead early in the first match and let it slip and I was not going to let that happen again. We knew we had to make a lot of birdies as possible, it allowed me to be a little more aggressive with this guy.

"I live for this kind of stuff, let's go some more. I can't wait for tomorrow"

Jordan Spieth added: "We are just getting started. I rode Patrick's back like no one has ever ridden a partner before. He is as good as anybody on the big stage and that was a lot of fun to be a part of.

"Tomorrow is more significant than either of the last two days. We need to come out and do our thing, play aggressive."

Cliff Pike: Lee Westwood or Russell Knox ... you choose. Darren Clarke did and it looks like a howler.

Joshua Lawrence: If only Lee Westwood could putt. Our victory chances gone? 9.5 - 6.5 is a long way back

    Reed/Spieth beat Rose/Stenson 2&1

So, Stenson has to perform another miracle... and he very nearly does, but his ball slides just by. Reed has two shots to win the match... misses the first but taps in the second.

  14. 'No one is home yet'published at 00:12 British Summer Time 2 October 2016

    Moore/Holmes beat Willett/Westwood 1UP

    BBC Radio 5 live

Danny Willett reacts to defeat on BBC Radio 5 live: "We had a good tussle. I struggled a bit, Westy was solid. We couldn't quite back one another up and hole the right putts at the right time. We had chances at 13 and 14, probably four putts slipped away.

"There's pressure most weeks but this is that little bit extra. It's a shame. We hit two great shots in there on 18 and couldn't capitalise. It doesn't change the job in hand. The job is to win all 12 tomorrow. Look at the score there, no one is on 14 and a half yet."

Rose putting from the collar, has to stick it in, but that never really looked in...

    2UP Reed/Spieth v Rose/Stenson (16)

Rose's tee shot isn't great at 17, let's see what Stenson can conjure. Pretty decent. But not as decent as Reed, who sticks his to within about 10 feet. Good job, as well, Spieth has gone swimming.

"It is exciting to see the way we have really performed as a team and some of the shots these guys are hitting are really amazing."
