So what did you think? What were you thinking as America dominated the foursomes to lead 4-0 yesterday morning?

Europe looked to be quaking in their boots but they just stuck in there, waited for weakness and it arrived. These players are just human beings after all. Though their stunning talents make them look superhuman, weakness and breaking point exists in each of them.

The fourball contests were dominated by the Europeans, breathing life into day two.

It's foursomes again, fourballs then follow later today. Eight points to be won, thousands of drinks to be consumed, millions of nerves to be frayed.

The galleries, noisy. The water, punishing. The pressure, telling. The momentum swings, exhausting. The drama, intoxicating.

Day one showed us what Ryder Cup golf is all about. There were water splashes, there were hammerings, there were spirited fight backs and there was fist pumping everywhere you looked.

Rory provided the final telling image of the opening day. By midnight we will know if his outburst was one which inspired or if it was simply a brief moment of insignificance.

Get your tee, scoring card and ball marker in your pocket, let's do this.
