    2UP Mickelson/Kuchar v Kaymer/Garcia (13)

Kuchar has made a monster disappear at 13. That's a birdie, the downside being we are treated to some shoulder shimmying from him and playing partner Mickelson. That was horrible, sent a shiver down my spine. The shimmy, not the birdie.

Gents, that sign behind you reads 'lavatories upstairs'. That to me offers the perfect chance to nip away for a comfort break and have a detailed read minus the time pressure you may face at the table. Enjoy.

    3UP Reed/Spieth v Rose/Stenson (11)

The American team needs you, Patrick Reed. Spieth has been so indifferent. Spieth is kind of just playing out, it's bizarre.

    3UP Reed/Spieth v Rose/Stenson (11)

It's all on Stenson at 11, he's got a birdie putt from about eight feet out. A clown in the gallery shouts something as Stenson is about to putt and the Swede steps away. Rose sends some daggers the clown's way, Reed tells them to cut it out, before Stenson gets over his ball and misses. Luckily, Reed misses as well and the Americans remain three up.

The 15th cooking in the late afternoon sun, blue sky and autumn trees reflecting in the water feature, two huge temporary stands without a seat free, the vast, expectant galleries snaking along the fairway and green. They're here because they know that drama is coming their way, again and again and again.

  7. All on the linepublished at 22:39 British Summer Time 1 October 2016

    A/S Moore/Holmes v Willett/Westwood (13)

The match moves to 14. This hole has been extended by 50 yards but JB Holmes is a big hitter so he will be thinking of taking the fairway bunkers on the right on.

This match now looks critical. Europe have a major winner in this pairing, we know he can handle it when it's all on the line.

  8. 'This shows how good they are'published at 22:37 British Summer Time 1 October 2016

    D Johnson/Koepka v McIlroy/Pieters 3UP (15)

    Carin Koch
Last year's European Solheim Cup captain on BBC Radio 5 live

This is a must make of course for Dustin Johnson, but he has got a good putt here up the hill. He can just go for it and it's the best possible position for him.

Wow. That just shows how good these players are as there is so much pressure and they just do it over and over again.

  9. Postpublished at 22:36 British Summer Time 1 October 2016

    D Johnson/Koepka v McIlroy/Pieters 3UP (15)

Stay calm, stay calm. Dustin Johnson extends this top match by converting a little right to lefter on 15. America's hole courtesy of birdie. Europe three up, three left.

    A/S Moore/Holmes v Willett/Westwood (13)

If you're of a European persuasion, the 13th hole brings bad news as JB Holmes holes his birdie putt with Lee Westwood and Danny Willett floundering. The only match which looks close is back to all square.

    1UP Mickelson/Kuchar v Kaymer/Garcia (12)

Sergio with a monster on 12! He shrugs, as if to say: "Why did you ever doubt me?" Mickelson misses with his birdie attempt, meaning Europe are only one down in the penultimate match. Garcia smells another comeback...

    D Johnson/Koepka v McIlroy/Pieters 4UP (14)

Rory fired out of bounds on 15 and will not have a say in sealing the match here. Still, someone was happy. This guy has a new ball for his round tomorrow.

  14. Splash!published at 22:31 British Summer Time 1 October 2016

    Moore/Holmes v Willett/Westwood 1UP (12)

Lee Westwood knows where this is going on the par three. Get another ball out of the bag Lee.

Just the one-hole lead to protect so Danny Willett needs to come up trumps. JB Holmes sends his ball down this 248-yard stretch and he likes it, over the pin and it stops dead, six to eight feet.

This is a big match now, the one most in the balance. What have you got Danny?

    3UP Reed/Spieth v Rose/Stenson (10)

Stenson of Sweden thrashing it down the 11th and he's almost made it on, that was some serious humpty. Rose, too, going with three wood but he hasn't hit it quite so well.

    Moore/Holmes v Willett/Westwood 1UP (12)

This match is really intriguing, as you know they want to get two up and you know the Americans want to get back to even. It would be huge if they got to two up with only a few holes to play.
