  1. Europe up - For you dadpublished at 19:48 British Summer Time 1 October 2016

    D Johnson/Koepka v McIlroy/Pieters 2UP (5)

The gent who caught the Brooks Koepka ball on his backpack - according to some was the father of Thomas Pieters. Maybe he tried to hide the ball so his boy could win this hole.

Young Thomas doesn't need such help as he uses the fact he drove to the green to eagle the par four. A super putt, never moved off line once.

Incidentally, his dad had to move until the ball on his backpack hit the deck. Koepka played from there but none of these big hitters could match the touch of 6ft 4in Pieters.

Rob Suddaby: The end of Star Wars always gets me fist-pumping. Even though I've seen it 78 times.

Ollie Baines: When Norwich City actually manage to hold onto a lead going into injury-time!!!

Theotherrw: What gets me fist pumping? My local rugby club scoring a last minute try 2014/2015 to stay in national 2 north!

    Reed/Spieth v Rose/Stenson 1UP (1)

Reed gets chocs away at the second and finds the fairway, but playing partner Spieth tugs his tee shot left. Here he is with his second out of the sand and what a shot that is, chance of a birdie.

  4. 'Holmes fired up'published at 19:45 British Summer Time 1 October 2016

    A/S Moore/Holmes v Willett/Westwood (3)

    Fred Funk
Former US Ryder Cup player on BBC Radio 5 live

That was a great putt and you can see how fired up Holmes was right there. With all I said about him being quiet and shy he is still a fiery competitor and he loves to win. We saw that there.

This is really an intense match. They keep putting it in on top of each other.

Danny Willett is on one after that chip in on two, following it up with a solid birdie putt to halve the third hole.

  7. Look at the picture closely...published at 19:42 British Summer Time 1 October 2016

    D Johnson/Koepka v McIlroy/Pieters 1UP (4)

It's bombs away with this fourball. Thomas Pieters - big hitter. Rory McIlroy, arms of steel. Dustin Johnson - crushes it for fun, Brooks Koepka - a rocket man.

They all try to drive the par-four fifth hole at 311 yards. Pieters makes it. Rory is through the back of the green, Koepka hits a big one and... it lands on someone's backpack. Are you kidding me?

  8. 'They really want that point'published at 19:41 British Summer Time 1 October 2016

    A/S Moore/Holmes v Willett/Westwood (2)

    Fred Funk
    Former US Ryder Cup player

They all have something to play for. They really want to get a point for the team. You never know here, Willett was out of position on the tee at the last hole, out of position in the gallery, and then chipped in.

  9. 'We have to get back on a roll'published at 19:40 British Summer Time 1 October 2016

    US 6½-5½ Europe

USA captain Davis Love on Sky Sports: "We are still pretty positive and still playing well. We know we need to get going and this would be a great session to do it in. If we can get some red on the board we'll be happy.

"We have to win a few matches and get back on a roll. We have some power here on a big golf course so hopefully that will happen.

On the half in the final match of the morning: "It hurt. That was half a point we'd like to have. Sergio made a bunch of putts coming in so you have to give him credit.

"We knew Spieth and Reed were running out of energy yesterday, but the way that match ended made them want to get out there and do it again."

  10. Putting for parpublished at 19:38 British Summer Time 1 October 2016

    USA 6½-5½ Europe

    Carin Koch
Last year's European Solheim Cup captain on BBC Radio 5 live

You can sometimes use this format and have someone go for the par. Sometimes you like to hit it a little bit firmer and not worry about the one coming back.

    A/S Mickelson/Kuchar v Kaymer/Garcia

Garcia with a clutch putt at the second and in it pours. Big smiles from Garcia and rival Matt Kuchar, they all look like they're having a ball out there.

  14. Postpublished at 19:36 British Summer Time 1 October 2016

    Reed/Spieth v Rose/Stenson 1UP (1)

Stenson rams home a 15-footer for a birdie at the first. Reed misses left, looking for a break that wasn't there... Spieth misses to the left as well, Europe into an early lead.

  15. What a shot!published at 19:35 British Summer Time 1 October 2016

    D Johnson/Koepka v McIlroy/Pieters 1UP (4)

"Be right, be right," Brooks Koepka says with a swagger. His tee shot on the par three is honing in on the pin, five feet left. Thomas Pieters is a shade further back, Rory McIlroy off the dancefloor.

The four-time major winner is in danger of being briefly overshadowed so he chips majestically, jumping on the spot as his ball clips the cup and stays out. What a shot, what a roar.

It's down to Koepka and Pieters. Both crumble. Hole halved. Inches between success and failure. We are dealing in inches folks.

  16. What a shot!published at 19:32 British Summer Time 1 October 2016

Spieth fires his second into the first green, before Stenson follows him on. Rose also with a peach, they have the hole under siege. On the second, Garcia is all over the flag with his second, it's all going off out there...

That's Sergio with a fist-pump that says it all about he and Rafa Cabrera-Bello's magnificent fightback against Spieth and Reed, but what is it that gets you throwing a passionate arm in the air to celebrate? And were you cheering along with the Spaniards?

Up on the third Thomas Pieters and Brooks Koepka birdie to halve. There are birdies everywhere you look right now, scoring is low as this lot just egg one another on.
